Wow, that Flashback vid from 1995 is amazing. Just 17 years and it all came true!

I remember the Internet in 1995 and it was barely out of the Bulletin Board Service era... and for them to go from a dial-up world to envision THIS just really impresses me.

I just thought it would be another headline since the headlines were already posted. Plus it gives credit to the awesome devs.

No, it was not that. It was the news it self. I think you missed my point, not your fault though

I just bought an S3, but left verizon in the processess of doing so (ETF). Hence my previous post, sorry for the confusion.

No problem, my brother has the s3 so naturally he's all giddy about it.

I saw that. They got it spot on. As for me, I was on the internet starting in '93.

Morning everyone!
Anti, living room looks great, love it!
Wow, so if Amazon really does make a 10" 4:3 tablet, they better lawyer up against Apple. What other tablets out there are the same dimensions? The Touch Pad?

That looks great Anti, it the same (close enough when not side by side) as my bedroom so I am biased towards the color.

Morning all!

Management here is twiddling their thumbs and not doing anything about getting me promoted. It's been over 2 months since I became elligible and completed all the tasks necessary. Have had 2 meeting requests to talk about what else needs to be done and if I need to do anything else and both were cancelled at the last minute. So I took some action and filled out an application at another place of employment that I had been debating on for about a month. They pursued me and wanted me to apply but I was hesitant. So we'll see what comes of that.

Bummer on management dragging their feet but good luck with the other opportunity. There's nothing wrong with options.

Thanks! Really don't intend on leaving, but it'll be interesting to see if they could match or beat what I am making now. Hours would be longer but the work would be more in line with what I want to do. No clue if they pay for the overtime there or not. Some places do pay their engineers OT but some don't. I guess we'll see if I get an interview request.

This story has been updated since posting; in addition to the gift cards, the Play store is now also supporting a "wishlist" function where you can add "apps, books, TV shows, movies, music, and magazines", perhaps to show to potential gift-givers, or to serve as some kind of shopping cart like any online shopping site. Interesting stuff.

Good luck SVT...always a difficult position to be in.
I am currently looking and applying, does not seem to be anyone hiring around here, and I have a supervisor who reviews us low so that he can keep us where are are....instead of encouraging advancement....

I know the feeling man, except the supervisors here are TOLD to review us low so they don't have to give us as big of a bonus or pay increase. Last year they told managers that no one could be given a single exceeds expectations on anything in their service review :P

How many of you actually use a security feature to unlock your phone/tablet?

Yeah, similar here, we have a 5 bracket rating system, and through my supervisor telling us stuff we weren't supposed to know, we discovered that engineers are prohibited from recieving a score that puts them in the top bracket (biggest raises). That bracket is limited to the manufacturing and administrative side of the business only.

I use a pattern lock.

A few months ago I saw a news show where they left some smart phones lying around in public. It was amazing how many people snooped on the phones. Even many of the honest people checked out the obvious confidential stuff before returning the phone.

Haha! Nah. I've always been anti PIN or Pattern unlock. Just wanted to swipe to the right and be ready to go. With the addition of the ability to add your other credit/debit cards to Google Wallet (I didn't have a Citi Mastercard), I added my debit card and thought, maybe I should PIN lock the phone too for extra security.

Necessary? Thoughts?

If my daily patterns were different I may have a different outlook, but I am either at work or at home 99% of the time and my phone is rarely more than three feet away from me. Yeah, I may do a pin lock if I add my debit card to wallet though.

My phone never leaves my person long enough for anyone to look at anything on it.

Not sure if that's a good or bad thing.. maybe both?

Anyone see this. I tipped it for the Uniquely Android series. Looks pretty cool.

I'm like some of you, my phone never leaves my side. I anticipate getting tired of having to enter a PIN to unlock, but it gives me a little peace of mind knowing my debit card is behind two layers of security.

Nothing for me either. I am on and off it so much, and it never leaves my side either. I want to waste as little time as possible getting into my phone to waste some time

I tried face unlock for gits and shiggles, and I used to use pattern lock.

But now I've gone back to the regular launcher, I love having access to my camera and Google Now from the lock screen.

Yeah, I will probably remove the PIN for those reasons alone. Really nice being able to access that stuff quickly.

So I need to express my pure joy for a development today. For whatever reason, I have held on to 4G at my desk all day. Of course, as I am typing this I lose data completely, guess I jinxed myself.

Go figure.

Hopefully the move to a new desk location improves my lack of service. Sometimes I can check my "time without service" and its about 20-25% and it kills my battery.
