Pup, I strive each day to make my son's life simple and kind, filled with love and attention. For these things I am proud. And it fills that empty feeling each time I hold him in my arms, read him a book or tell him how much I really love him.

And without my wife, none of this would have been possible.

When I pick Evan up at day care and he runs full speed and leaps into my arms, I know I'm doing it right. It ain't a parenting magazine or the right guidance, it's knowing that you love them unconditionally. Thanks jmar.

Oh, NO:

My, uh, rather eccentric dad & step-mother just had a life-altering event.

They have had a Cocker Spaniel named Julie Sue for FOURTEEN years. This dog was in poor health and allergic to literally everything. Literally. Everything. They spent hundreds a month on vet bills and meds to keep this dog alive: Julie was their BABY, more so than either of us human kids ever were... my sister and I even joked that maybe they had some sort of bizarre suicide pact in case the dog died.

Julie just died.

My sister lives closer than I do and was asked to go help bury the dog. They are going to be hopelessly inconsolable for who-knows how long. My Dad, 72 and in not that good health himself, does not need this strain on his heart.

I pray she has the right words to say and things to do to help ease them through this. I'm 6 hours away, and kind of helpless here - except she advised me NOT to call them. *SIGH*

Well, looks like I have a personalized pet grave marker to order in a hurry

I dunno was going to 'Like' your post but somehow it didn't seem quite appropriate.

Loosing a pet is hard. Even though they're technically property, they do end up being part of the family.

I'm sorry Chief.

I'm sorry to hear this. My grandfather (also in ill health) lost 2 of his 3 beloved dogs a week apart after I moved away. It was troubling but a month or so went by and they found an adorable pup that they fell in love with immediately. I suggest this after a bit of grieving.

I wish your family the best and offer my condolences.

I'm very sorry to hear this Chief. It's very hard to lose a pet as they are a part of the family. I think more so after kids have moved away.

Someone I know posted this for me when we had to put our dog down earlier this year and it made me realize how lucky we were to have her for as long as we did. Maybe it will help your parents in the near future:

"Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Thanks folks. The story is far more complicated and convoluted than I typed up there, and I won't bore you with the details: let's just say it's a VERY stressful time in their lives right now. With this, I'm very concerned that it may be the tipping point for one or both of them. We're going to have to tread VERY lightly on this one...

Ugh, Chief, I'm so sorry to hear. My parents have gone through similar things as they have filled their empty nest syndrome with dogs (one of which has since passed). I wish them the best and empathize with your worries.

Ok, so I am downloading JBSourcey 2 as we speak and then GAPPS 2 for sourcery. They are recommending a clean install; but like Chief and BB, I so want to dirty flash it. Anyone try it yet?

I did and it failed - but JBS admitted some downloads were bad because of the server being hit so hard. I will try again later though. If it fails again I'll clean install.

Looks like you can add 2 - I don't know about changing the others. Go Settings > JBSourcery Control Center > Lockscreen Options > Slider Shortcuts.

Good evening, chicos and chicas. I have something I must confess.

I caved and bought a maxiPad. My wife is thrilled. I bought a Transformer initially and ended up returning it in favor if the dreaded black Apple.

But what scares me is that I love it. The retina display is surreal.

That is all.

Good night.

Thanks, I dirty flashed 2 and now can add the extra buttons to the lock circle. Nexies seems a little shaky, not as fast changing screens etc. I am going to restart and give it over night to settle and then see where we are.

Congrats on 10k BB!
Morning everyone. Boy am I still tired. I feel like a baby who needs much more than 4-5 hours of sleep like some folks can pull off. Ah well, at least it was nice to come back and sleep in our own bed after two restless nights away from home.

Morning Copacetic. So far so good. I flashed a dialer mod and lock screen and no issues.

Mine is doing good this morning as well, I dirty flashed V2 and the new GAPPs, had some lagginess restarted again and the left it alone all night. Still seems stable now. Glad yours is going well too, so much quicker than a clean install.

Good morning everyone - its great to be back.

Been offline for a while, just enjoying life and celebrating my birthday with friends and family. Thank you to all for the birthday wishes & to those who PMed me with them - feels real great to get all those!

Going to catch up with the thread in a bit, yesterday seemed to be a busy day at work so two quick pictures. First of my car after yesterday's cleaning and then one of a special something I broke out for last night's birthday dinner.

Morning all! Congrats BB on 10K!

My condolences to your parents Chief. My wife's dog went missing on 4th of July, and she was connected at the hip with that dog, it had got her through a really crappy time before we met. To this day she will tear up when she thinks about it.

So a crappy start to the day, ran over some roadkill and it got its revenge, a bone punctured my tire. Thankfully it was a slow enough leak I got to a gas station to change it (had to drive 10 miles after light came on). And its repairable which is really good, considering they were 2 month old tires!

Morning all!

Sorry to hear about the family pet Cheif. Wife's parents had their 15 year old family pet die last week. Always sad.

Sucks about your cut tire Anti! Glad it can be repaired though.

So everyone has suckered me into flashing Sourcery ROM. Flashed 2.0 this morning. Figured it was a good time after my phone locked up and then wouldn't boot. Just wiped everything, re-flashed the bootloader, flashed the ROM and GApps and I'm up and running again. Only problem is I can't get Google Wallet. Any ideas why??

Going to try to sneak something like that into the next update I post. We shall see if it gets rejected or not. I tried something like that originally, but hoping to get a different reviewer.

They have the apk listed under jb sourcery tools, device manager, extra apps. If that one does not work, I can pm you the apk I use.
