As someone who hasn't flashed anything in a while, remind me - if I'm flashing something like the new LeanKernel as well, that would be in between flashing the ROM and Gapps, right? (ie. between steps 4 and 5 on the Team Sourcery page)

Also, the Team Sourcery page recommends allowing apps to restore from the Market, but I was thinking I'd just restore from my TiBu backup this time around. Should I follow their instructions exactly? Sorry for the annoying questions.

Apps - I restored user apps from TiBu. I have never allowed the market to do it. I think that's a personal preference though.
Razor,

I'll second BabyBlues. Conventional wisdom is to always flash ROM, gapps, then reboot before flashing any mods or kernels. I'm pretty sure if you don't do that way hell will freeze over and dogs will be sleeping with cats.

As far as kernels, I had a lot of luck with LeanKernel on ICS, but since being on JellyBean my battery seems to do better with Franco. Of course, every phone is different.

I restored my apps via TB on Sorcery with no ill effects (other than the fact I can't stop drooling, have a twitch in my left eye and can't pronounce the letter "L".)

Ahh, genius. Where is the zip located so that I can flash it?

EDIT: Solved, had to create the zip in TiBu itself.

Yikes. I had no idea how close I was to dooming the world last time I flashed a ROM.

EDIT: Congrats on 1,000 posts, Captain! We salute you.

Phew, okay, so everything is flashed, apps restoring from TiBu now. Someone tell me how to get into Google Now on this thing, it's what I've been looking forward to most!

Morning guys and gals!
So Sourcery really is that good eh? I'm still on CNA 3.3 (I think) and pretty happy with it, but maybe tomorrow I'll give Sourcery a shot.

Good Morning!

Unfortunately for me, JB Sourcery is Verizon only.

Today I turned 32. I am beginning to feel old. 2 not even 2 and 1 year olds and a 9 year old wear me out.

Yeah, I've seen little kids wear parents to death. Couldn't imagine having kids myself.

@Razor, you may also want to sync searches in Chrome on your PC. You get a lot more informative cards in Google Now that way.

Morning all! Hurricane Isaac is predicted to hit New Orleans directly on the 7th anniversary of Katrina. That is messed up. Hopefully the levees hold and its a lot weaker than Katrina was.

Hope everyone had a great weekend, mine was short, busy, but pretty fun. My church has a family worship service on Sunday nights that is geared towards kids and parents together, my kids love it. Plus we had a pool party that afternoon, which was great.

Happy Birthday jhtalisman. Don't feel bad, I am 4 years younger and I am worn out by my young ones and have been for 2 years now, so its not an age thing

Morning all! Hope everyone had a good weekend. I'll probably be scarce this week. Got some work duties that will likely keep me out of office most of the week.

Morning all!!
Hope everyone's weekend was good. We are still reeling after news that our jobs are moving to Texas, and were not very productive this weekend. Instead we spent some time with friends, discussing options and getting suggestions. Discussing with family went better than we expected...just not sure how to think right now. Although we did find out that we need to have a basic decision by the Monday after our Saturday 9/22 wedding...
Hope everyone has a good week!!!

Good luck on the decision, Ryan. I imagine life in TX will be a little different than that in CA.
Seriously, my first time going to CA (being East Coast bred), I literally thought it was a different country. Only driven through TX so can't say a whole lot about it that I know.

Good luck making that decision! Its scary and daunting but make sure you weigh all your options. And I don't think I knew before today that your wedding is on my daughter's birthday!

Morning Anti, I agree, it is messed up! We are on our way back to the coast tomorrow. Its been a great summer in the mountains but we can't wait to get back to the ocean. It may be hurricane season, but the next 2 months are the best on the Carolina Coast!

Yeah, definitely. I was exploring some of the settings and gave it access to pretty much everything, but it still shows me the "sample" cards. Will those disappear eventually?

PS. Thanks to everyone that helped me last night

I have to choose to get the "sample" cards, not sure why they're showing up for you automatically once you've finished the setup.

Once you start getting cards, the samples will go away unless you choose to see them

Sorry, I was a little confused - it's not the sample cards, it's the one card that says "Cards show up here when you need them". What I need is for it to go away, it's covering my other cards! XP

Argh, stayed up too late last night flashing this ROM - I'm dragging today at work.

EDIT: Went and got one of these; for any other non-coffee drinkers like me who need something in the morning, this stuff really gives you a kick in the pants:

I asked the other day but the thread that BB pointed me to was mainly sports related.

Anyone know of a site that has cool (preferably dark) walls?

TIA.

Good Grief!

We're clean flashing JBSourcery 2.1 on my son's Nexus. Has TiBU Pro, and we're batch restoring apps. Then we flashed the TiBU zip to put it in the app drawer without signing in to Google.

But EVERY app it's restoring stops and asks permission to install based on the app's permissions! I have to hit "Install" or "Cancel". Of course, we're installing each one... then we have to choose "Done" or "Open". This is taking FOREVER!

What is going on?? Mine just batch installs everything with one button push, this is two finger presses per app!

EDIT: Plus it's repeatedly granting TiBU Superuser rights.

This is gonna take all DAY...

I know Stigy and I both use wallpapers from the collection in this thread:

[WALLPAPERS] Pure Black & Bright Colors [227] - xda-developers

There are lots of good ones there, and the poster, atticus182, has made many other collections as well.

Sourcery has a no wallpaper option. That's what I use. I like it all black.

That sounds like a bug. I didn't do 2.1 yet though so I don't know why it would do that.

Who here has an OG and when was the last time you flashed a ROM on it?

I may play in the next couple of days just for the cool factor...

Wasn't there something in the JBSourcery thread about the new version of ROM Manager messing things up somehow? That's the only thing I can think of if you're doing a clean install. Did you check the MD5 and everything, Chief?

I checked the MD5 TWICE: on the PC download and on the phone before installing. I do NOT have ROM Manager installed, as I no longer have use for it.

Nothing in Settings that I see would affect it...

JBSourcery 2.1 was a little buggy for me. I did the update. Sometimes the phone would take up to 3 seconds to wake up. Same Franco 241 kernel.

Back on 2.0 and all is fine.

Yeah, my son's getting bootloops and L-O-N-G boot times left & right. May have to throttle him down to JBS 2.0...

Just flashed Franco 241, so far so good. THANKS captain. Btw, I dirty flashed the 2.1 update, no issues. I will let you know if Franco causes any hiccups

I just got in from a long (but fun) day at Six Flags Great Adventure. It was just what I needed. Lots of rides, lots of laughs and Funnel Cake!! I'm such a sucker for funnel cake.

Just flashed the newest CM10 nightly. Had to try the one on my birthday, I'll look into some other ROM's to try out my next night off work.
