The HD isn't $159 I think - I think that is the regular 7" Kindle Fire with just upgraded internals.

Nice price drop on the Kindle Fire to $159 plus a bump in processor and RAM. Add to that the Fire HD. Awaiting price.

Wow, the PaperWhite looks very impressive! And the free nationwide 3G thing is very bold too. I may just have to make the jump on this one - I've stubbornly stuck with physical books forever, but I gotta say, the PaperWhite might have changed my mind.

Three new Kindle models — $179 for 3G, $119 for Wi-Fi, and old Kindle gets a slight upgrade and a $69 price.

EDIT: And the Kindle Fire HD is impressive as well! Wow, big score for Amazon here, and we still haven't gotten to the rumored smartphone.

5GHz Wi-Fi Spectrum, which is awesome. OH and two antennas - dual antenna design seems to be the wave of the future. Thumbs up to Amazon for that.

Hmmm.. this MIMO thing is a little over my head. I guess it's supposed to improve reception? Why don't more devices incorporate this?

Unless this thing drops in at $200, all this yap won't mean nothing because you're still paying for all of this to be hampered by the Amazon overlay.

This should help:

In radio, multiple-input and multiple-output, or MIMO (commonly pronounced my-moh or me-moh), is the use of multiple antennas at both the transmitter and receiver to improve communication performance. It is a fork of Android, not a skin like Sense or Touchwhiz. That's why it doesn't/can't ship with GAPPS.

Me neither, but I think that's just a side effect / plus to Whispersync for Voice. I just imagine getting on the train, reading my book then getting to my car to finish the drive home and starting off where via my radio where I left off reading. That just blows my mind.

I applaud Amazon...$199 for a 7" Fire HD. Very nice. Specs above the N7, but I still wouldn't want the Amazon interface. I want Vanilla Android.

Kindle Fire 4G!

It's looking more likely to me that we'll see a phone of some sort. They've laid all the groundwork. Nationwide 3G and 4G, Whispersyncing/cloud technology, etc.

EDIT: XD And of course on cue it ends. Perhaps the rumormongers heard "4G" and got confused, thinking that 4G would automatically mean a phone.

Kind of a lousy entry at the $499 pricepoint IMO. An LTE modem and an extra 16GB of storage for $200 more.

The price of ownership is great, don't get me wrong, but what are you going to do with 250 MB of data? Definitely not for heavy data usage.

More than likely. Thought we were going to see a phone. Guess not. Couldn't see owning that over my N7, but I know some people love the Fire. If I had a child, would probably get this for them. Really nice parental control stuff.

Sorry, conventional bicycles do enough damage to the family jewels...don't think I'll ride a bike where I'll be strapped in and quite literally hanging by my ...well, you get the idea.

For media consumption, I would assume the Kindle wins...Amazon Prime is a great service and adds a lot of perks. That being said, the only issue I see is if you bought one of these kindles with the intention of rooting/roming, I would be afraid of the new hardware - who knows what drivers will and wont work with the likes of AOKP or CM10...

I will keep my N7, but I am definitely buying a Microsoft Surface as a laptop replacement. I'm just hoping that GPU in the Surface will be good enough to handle some of the games I play now - Guild Wars 2, Diablo 3, Battlefield etc

edit: I'm talking about the Surface PRO with the ivy processor in it btw
