I just got into this line of work a little over a year ago. I woke up one day in 2009 and decided to change my career path and choose welding. So I went to a trade school for 18 months and now I have this job. Never welded a day in my life until June 2009.

Damn Jagermeister! Need to go grocery shopping but still feeling the effects of Jagerbombs. I work nights too, usually get home in about an hour and a half. Guess I will play some more Crysis 2 while I get a little bit more in the the correct frame of mind.
For those who like dogs and pools, the final day before the District's public pools close, they have Doggy Day Swim where folks can bring their dogs for some pool time.
So cute. Dog days at D.C. pools - The Washington Post

You mean the monsoon like storm that my dad and I watched blow in? Thankfully we were at a restaurant under cover when it happened. Panoramic of Lake George as the storm came in (the stuff that looks a bit like fog is the rain being blown out in the winds)

So this weekend, the time came to where my little brother and sister would get a smart phone. I wanted to get my sister the Nexus but she insisted on just getting one of the free android phones verizon had to offer. I was going to give my brother my old Thunderbolt as well.
The Samsung Stellar had just come out 2-3 days ago and was a free-on contract- android phone.
I was actually blown away!
-It uses a Super Amoled + display (non pentile) - its 800x480 resolution but at a 4 inch screen it looks pretty good!
-Internally - it basically has the same hardware as the Galaxy SII did on the other carriers - 1.2ghz S3 processor, 1gb of Ram etc
-Get this: it comes with a 2100mAh battery! I had to pay extra for that in my Nexus
-Ships with what's basically the nature UX from the SIII - comes with 4.0 out of the box including S voice
-Speaker is very loud and clear
The only cons - and this is probably why it's free- 3.2mp camera with no flash how ever it does have zero shutter lag.
I was blown away and did not feel bad now for getting her a "free" phone...sad to say but this blew the DROID Razr out of the water - the only thing I like more about the Razr are the colors/materials
We also switch our plans to the share everything plan. I was the only one who had unlimited and I gave it up (I know you're thinking WTF MAN) but it made since because it only increased our bill by $30 (including the 2 new data plans) and it bumped us to unlimited minutes, and now we have a 10gb pool of data. My brother and sister both live on campus at the dorms so they are always on WIFI so that means I get most of that pool anyways.
One sad thing about the verizon store was that the Galaxy Nexus was no longer on display They also didn't have the LG VU which I was curious to see... Anyways, Verizon needs to get its phone situation straight. It made me realize that besides the SIII and the Nexus - Verizon's got nothing. Absolutely nothing.
Wow I feel like this post should have started out as "Dear Diary...."
The only real somber part of the whole thing was - naturally - MY part: for the first time in my life, I had to present an award posthumously to the widow. I was nervous as all get-out... from carefully crafting the speech to be respectful of her recent loss, to actually figuring out what to say to her when I handed her the plaque. All in all, it worked out well... I got that feeling, anyway.
I hope I never have to do that again. I enjoy doing this sort of thing... but this took it to a whole different level in terms of sensitivity.
Nice to be DONE with it and back in the Watering Hole
I've finished watching every episode of Stargate SG-1, Stargate Atlantis and now Stargate Universe. The latter was such a good show. Too bad it was canceled after 2 seasons. It was better than most shows on tv now. There was supposed to be a movie to end Universe but the writer had to cancel it so the tv show ended with a 'sortofa' cliffhanger.

Evening all, another full day of getting a house ready for new tenants arriving tomorrow from Michigan. However, check out the sunset we were treated to when we got home, courtesy of our Nexie

Haven't seen much of Atlantis or Universe, but SG-1 is a great show. One of my all-time favorites.

Sup y'all. Rough day. Glad my Niners won and my baseball Giants are on the verge of winning 2 of 3 over the Dodgers. Thank you sports gods. BTW, did anyone see that shenanigan blown call in the Niners game? 75 punt return against us only stood because the stupid NFL won't budge over a total of 4M dollars split between the real officials who are being locked out. The amount of money these refs want, collectively, mind you, is ⅓ of 1 percent of the entire revenue of the NFL! Ridiculous! Pay these refs please! I am begging you. These replacement refs are horrible!
That is all.

I think our friends have a 70" Aquos or something? All I know is it's insanely huge, too big for their small basement. He's a sports nut though, so it's nice to watch football on it.

Good morning everyone - happy Monday!
17 days until I go on vacation to Ocean City, MD so excited for that.
Jets won this weekend (blowout, woot) and my fantasy team is 1-0 as well. Good, relaxing weekend all around. Did some fixing of the car as well - took this pic yesterday of my rear wheel - love how it sits.
Hope everyone's weekend was exciting and fun filled. Looks like a busy week ahead at work too.

Certainly not on the way but if you make it into the District, hit me up.
We usually avoid DC on the way down and especially since me and the lady decided to leave after work its gonna be an even better idea to avoid that area. But thanks for the offer - maybe on the way back if we decide to head that way.
By the way if anyone is looking for web hosting 1&1 has been nothing short of amazing for me. I have been with them since 2006 (which I didn't even know) after I left GoDaddy and just had a problem with a cancelled package auto renewing. Called in, got a person in 2 minutes and the contract was cancelled and my credit card was credited for the full amount. I am so happy.
Topeka Capital Markets analyst Brian White went as far as to call it the “biggest upgrade in consumer electronics history,” in a note to investors Monday morning.

HAHAH I read that this morning - of course it was over at BGR, go figure.
I can't wait until the hype is over - all the [real] tech blogs/journalists are saying even though its Apple and people just buy it because its an iPhone if it doesn't do something big and game changing then its gonna flop and you might see more Android/WP8 converts than ever.

A little breezy, mut mostly dissipated before it made it to our area.

He loves it. We lost the Neon's as the balances aren't quite right yet. He got over it quick when I had him fish them out with a net and flush them down the toilet.
Pam wanted to get some $15 fish but I wouldn't let her. Just a couple of $0.99 ones until the ecosystem gets established.
Thanks, Razor!
Anyone use a Roku? What's its functionality without cable? Doesn't look like it needs it. Our cheapo Blu-ray can stream Netflix and Pandora, but not the others. Might look into it.
Edit: NM, bought it. We use Amazon quite a bit to stream and it's a bit of a pain to hook up the laptop to the tv to do it, so this will be much easier.

That's awesome dread! Will you let me/us know how you like it? I've really been wanting one of these.
