Hey dread... And to each using TWRP, I couldn't find the right one on goo.im so I just downloaded the file from their site... And adb push recovery from my pc... All done.
Actually that was the first terminal session that I used win8 for... And it worked perfectly!

Thanks, Ryan. I saw that PA recommended updating TWRP but I couldn't figure out how to do it within Goo. Know how?
Also, saw that 5.0 is the exp build. I'll give it a shot.
Yes, to update twrp in goo, all you have to do is boot it up, give it root access, hit the options in the upper right, and hit Install OpenRecoveryScript. It will download it and auto flash it from there.

Perfect, doing that now. 2.3.1 is the latest? I believe I was on 2.2 previously.

I updated it to 2.3.2.1 using that method today. If there is a newer version out there, you'd have to manually flash it through the terminal. It worked just fine for me though, so you should be good.
jhawk, are you a Kansas fan? I lived in Lawrence for a couple years, love that town.
Indeed I am. I wanted to go there for college to get totally immersed in the whole basketball atmosphere, but it never came to be. Still a big time fan though oddly enough. Not a common team for a New Yorker to be a fan of, even if many would consider me to be a fake New Yorker since I've lived in Upstate/Western NY my whole life.
Yeah, upstate NY isn't really NY.
I went to UNC for a semester before transferring to culinary school (my wife is a UNC grad). Never got to see a basketball game. She went to one where Michael Jordan was present!
But, if I have to pick a second fav, it'd be Kansas. There fans are fun and just as rabid as Tar Heels.

A co-worker of mine did their graduate work at UNC, and she carried so much shame to say that her oldest daughter did her undergraduate at Duke. It's always extra fun to tease her about it too. I had quite a predicament almost 10 years ago when Kansas lost to Syracuse in the national title game and got a lot of flack from people back then for rooting against the "Home" team.
Saw the link on the homepage, but thought I'd share with you Anti in case you hadn't seen it. Apparently they found another way of unlocking the DNA bootloader, but it seems to be done through quite a bit of ADB.
If I got the DNA I would need a video tutorial of that process.

It also involves a using the dev tool after all the hacking, so it's a complete warranty voiding, no going back. Unlike our nexus devices that we can relock and no one would ever know. If somehow the Nexus 4 makes it's way to Verizon, who would jump ship?
Sorry to barge in, but I just wanted to share that I had a heart attack when I installed 4.2, went into twrp and tried to change roms. NOTHING WAS THERE! I thought I HAD the latest recovery. I did not. I upgraded and everything's there. I'm on leankernal 5 for 4.2 exp 1. I like it muuuch better than stock. I miss the sourcery mods, but will upgrade to sourcery when Eagle gets back from vacay and makes it. Sourcery is de bomb.

I thought about that before. I believe I would just keep with Gnex and wait.

Heehee...what Steven said!
Steven, did you upgrade recovery before hand? Which 4.2 ROM did you install?
I flashed Paranoid without following their first direction (which was BOLD and in RED) about updating TWRP.
Fortunately, no hiccups.

Good early morning Gnexers!
Wow, everyone's jumping ship from JBSourcery to try the latest and greatest, huh? Is 4.2 worth it? I think Ginny and I will stick to JBSourcery until they release their 4.2 ROM
Got ready though: flashed TWRP 2.3.2.1 in preparation!
EDIT: I don't know if you guys read this or not, but it explains WHY the new TWRP 2.3.2.1 is required for a full Android 4.2 ROM:
Quoted from Androidspin.com -
"With Android 4.2, Google introduced multiple users as a new feature. In order to accommodate multiple users, Google is now giving each user a their own folder for storage. If you upgraded to 4.2 from 4.1, then the 4.2 ROM will look for a certain file in /data to determine whether it needs to migrate all of your files to the new multi-user data structure. By default, 4.2 migrates all of /data/media to /data/media/0.
A problem arose though with custom recoveries. A custom recovery retains the /data/media folder during a factory reset. When you factory reset and then boot a 4.2 ROM again, the 4.2 ROM will migrate everything in /data/media again. It will migrate your files every time you factory reset. This multiple migration is what resulted in some people having their files moved to /sdcard/0 or even /sdcard/0/0 etc.
In TWRP 2.3.2.0 we have corrected this problem by ensuring that we do not delete the special file during a factory reset. However, if ended up having your files upgraded you will need to move or merge them back into /sdcard. Also, if you have moved your TWRP folder from /data/media/0 to /data/media so that you could restore backups while using prior TWRP versions, you may now need to move the TWRP folder back into /data/media/0.
As a special note, if you restore a backup to a prior version of Android, you may have to move your files out of /data/media/0 and into /data/media to be able to see them again."

Morning... Early birds!! Or at least it's early for CA!
Last day of a long weekend. Going to spend most of the day taking down our prized salt water fish tank, selling most things... But may end up just giving the rest to the local fish store. So sad... Huge investment over the last few years, but not nice to the live animals to travel, so it has to come down before we move.
The only other thing on our list to do today... Get my wife a new phone from VZW. I am very curious to see what she chooses!

Sorry bud. We've been going through that for years. We can never actually close a game. Last night was flukish for us.. But then again our hearts were in it. Tough game all around.
UC, I thought I was on the latest recovery. I was not. I'm upgraded and all is well with the world. Additionally, I'm glad to have provided comic relief to everybody here. I hate you. I hate you all! :-)

Well, you may be good for a laugh or two, but it's still good info. Didn't think it was all that important. I mean it's not like that step wasn't bolded and in RED!
(yeah, it was and I still didn't upgrade. Sue me )

Hey Ryan, FWIW I popped for the RAZR MAXX HD yesterday and it blows me away. Keep in mind I am coming from a DX on 3G to this on 4G. The speed is unbelievable (as you already know from your GN). What took half a day to download (4,000 contacts via Exchange) took about 10 minutes. Screen is spectacular. Of course, I'm not a rooter and modder (thus far), so bootloader aside, it is a great phone. Build quality is solid and radio is perfect, even in sketchy areas. Same exterior dimensions as the DX, so not overly huge for a lady. Let us know what she picks.

Hey all... So just got finished transferring my wife's phone line from her parents Friends and Family plan over to my account. Lost my unlimited data.
Also the csr on the phone at VZW told me that I would significantly pay less if I moved from my current plan of 450min talk/unlimited text and data to the share everything plan.... And then got mad at me when I pointed out that our current plans were $105/mo total vs the new share everything plan which would be $160/mo+ taxes was not significantly saving me any money... I suppose she did not like my argumentative nor sarcastic voice when I pointed that out... Well, it's done now... So she can find a new phone when we get to a vzw store sometime soon. Lol

Leave it to Verizon to sell saving you money by making you spend more.

Sorry Ryan... something tells me we'll ALL be losing our unlimited data soon. They'll change their terms again. We'll go kicking and screaming, of course, but I give it a year at best

That's a great plan, Liamo, but I'm one of those folks over the proverbial barrel. Verizon is the only network that has decent signal in our area... and 4G signal at that. So we're sort of locked in and at their mercy if we want to use a cell phone at all.

+1 to that Chief!
Honestly its one of those things.... (first world problems and all...)
My wife was laughing at me the whole time because I knew what was coming... And she could tell there was nothing I could say to change the outcome.
Strongly considering Straight Talk here.
Verizon is a stronghold on you, but I guess I'm just tired of their locked down, bloated phones. Least I have until May or so to decide (I'm not paying an ETF).
I'm going the prepaid route after this contract. I unfortunately have until the 15th of December next year for that option to be available without paying an etf. If google continues this trend of low priced, high quality hardware gsm nexus phones, it will make it very manageable.
