Nothing like finding a few unrepresentative cases to drag a competitor through the mud.

My favorite is this little gem "I bought this phone on release day, only to find out a few months later it was never going to be updated, and even the new apps weren't going to be compatible anymore". Oh wait.

Morning all... Been lurking, but not replying much for a few days. Busy as heck around here.
Headed out to Austin tomorrow, see if we can find a house to rent. Busy busy at work training new people to cover our jobs while we are gone this week as well as at the end of the month while moving... Packing... Etc.
Got our new tv this week! Absolutely love it. The colors and clarity... Excellent! The wife said she likes the small bezel, and that the picture is the full tv. Guess we did not realize how cropped the old tv looked till we got this one. We ended up with the UN46EH6030.... Love it!
Happy Hump Day to all!

So went running last night, and I am very pleased with our neighborhood's participation in christmas lighting. Almost half the homes have at least something, and there is probably 2 dozen that have full house and landscape lighting. I would say it was very Christmasy, except I was running in shorts and a t-shirt

You probably have a custom recovery loaded on the phone. Get this app (free and written by another mod here)
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=sa.root.toolkit

One of the options in there will tell you what recovery you have installed and another will let you flash back to the stock recovery (which you need to have in order for the OTA to install).

I hope this helps. If you have any additional questions, feel free to ask.

No, it will just replace the custom recovery with the stock one and allow you to apply the OTA.

I flashed the stock recovery..... I deleted the OTA data, and let the phone find the update again, when I let the phone reboot to install the update it failed again with the downed Android.... Here is what it says:
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
Installing update...
Verifying current system...
assert failed: apply_patch_check("/system/app/ApplicationProvider,apk","13b2f4b91d21fdff3e72f637 45255dd4d9c1a","08db09578758c61cf5c8ec895b1331a5fa 4cc349")

It sounds like a system app is either disabled or deleted. If you go under apps in settings, scroll over to the all heading, then scroll all the way down to the bottom, is there anything marked as disabled?

Yes, Google Current & Talk are disabled... would these be considered system apps since they are default programs on a stock phone?

Nevertheless, I enabled them and re-ran the update and install.... same thing.....

Our church has a couples party, and along with the white elephant gift exchange, is a tacky Christmas sweater contest. I figured if I got an old red sweater, and covered it in sticky tack, I would be a sure winner.

I am getting a fail on language download every time... nevermind, I got it.

Dread - watched that, got mixed feeling on it. Perhaps it is just the trailor, but it just doesn't scream out star trek to me.

Anti, had no problems on the install and setup. Have you tried another language to see if it would work?

Actually, it did take me a couple tries and the download was SLOW (on 4G), but it stuck eventually.
My guess is their servers are getting slammed now?

This thing is a TRIP! And the prediction is scary accurate...

I never liked Swype but I bet I could get used to this

I've been enjoying Slide It, but with all this excitement I'll try Swift Key again. I used to enjoy it's predicative nature, but I liked the ability to slide.

I am trying it out for the day. I've always liked Swiftkey's prediction ability, but I always preferred the layout of the stock keyboard. One thing the stock keyboard didn't do that this does is it can delete part of a word and not the whole thing if you made a mistake.

I've always been a fan of Swype but with the latest stock keyboard on 4.2, I'm completely satisfied with stock for the first time in my history of owning Android phones.

BTW...appears a Google Now update is out:

Google Now update makes holiday travel easier

That looks like some slick stuff with the update. Sometimes I feel like I only scratch the surface of what I can do with Now.

Using it to type this now. I is going to take some getting used to coming from Swype, I will keep wanting to lift my finger for the spaces. Doing so, however, does make it more accurate :-)

Is it that honestly that good? I am currently using the stock 4.2 keyboard and its fine for me. I never got used to swiping, but I guess I can give it a shot.

Oh well - here goes nothing.

Happy Thursday everyone - almost Friday, woohoo!
