NOT off to a good start today. Neck hurts worse than it did yesterday, youngest was up at 3am thinking it was time for the day to begin (and still up at 5:15 W when I left the house), and at work I shook my powdered creamer to break up the lumps and the lid popped open and got it all over my desk.

Sorry for the bad start to the day Anti, it will get better. Dread, I wiped everything and flashed the latest Sourcery this am. For me, clean flashing really takes no longer than dirty flashing. I use Apex or Nova so setting up the home screens is easy. Log back into a couple of different accounts and up and running. When I dirty flash, I risk spending a lot more time if it goes bad.

Morning folks! Hope yours gets better Anti - and have someone look at that neck: cervical stuff you do NOT wanna mess with!
Good points Copacetic: but I have a massive number of alarms to set back up, as well as all that sundry stuff (Sounds for each account, bootanimation, replace the 4.2 deskclock with the old 4.1 one). I'd rather dirty flash anyday. Well, I'll try it and if it fails? I'm backed up & ready to wipe if I have to

You are so right on that point. Setting up sounds and such takes me the most time. And of course then their is all the re-setting up of Sourcery. Now if I could only back up all that....
So far, so good on the new version!

First batch of home-brew is in the fermenting stage (in the Mr. Beer keg) right now - I just hope my lack of patience for things like this doesn't get the best of me but I want it in there for 2-3 weeks then its off to the bottling phase. Best Hanukkah gift ever!

The Mr. Beer came wit a starter kit of an American Light - here is the flavor profile for it. Pretty excited to try it though - just gotta do the hardest part & wait.

Pale Straw color, mild in flavor and lighter bodied with a crisp, dry finish. A true to character representation of our nation’s favorite beer style. Serve ice cold for a clean, refreshing taste that has passed the test of time.
Good luck, Stigy!
I've made dozens of home brew but haven't in a couple years. It can definitely become addicting.
That first batch will disappear in no time but you'll learn that the last bottle is always the best

I'd like to see our carriers do what some of the foreign ones do - replace the no-smoking lights that everyone knows about with a personal devices light.
Attendants are always upset with me after the landing announcement - which I never hear because I travel with my tunes cranked.
^ Yes! I get "stupidly" nervous around times when I should be turning off my device so I turn down my music or take off my headphones in case I miss the time.
Reminds me of a Simpsons episode when Bart turns on his Gameboy(?) and the plane starts crashing, and he turns it off and it's fine.

I'm the naughty one that turns my phone/ipad on Airplane mode and tucks it in my purse until they say electronics can come out. If it's not sending/receiving any data it can't interfere with anything. And it saves time when I can use it because I don't have to wait for it to boot up.
I'm all for allowing most electronics. I agree with no cell phones and devices should be put down during the safety brief, but other than that it's ridiculous.
I'm cognizant of this fact and try to cycle the "No Smoking" sign on departure as soon as possible and wait as long as possible on descent to cycle it again.
I also only put my phone in airplane mode and just turn the screen off for departure, whether flying as a pilot or as a passenger.

Happy 12/12/12 to everyone as well.
BTW I do the same - my phone goes into airplane mode and just turn the screen off. I use it to listen to music for the flight. I mean there are some airlines that provide their maps on iPads now - the passengers need to be able to use electronics on the flight.
BTW on the beer related front, we have fermentation!

I had a mini panic attack this morning......I was browsing the interwebz and then realized it was time to get moving so I closed the browser and hit the power button to lock Nyxie. When I got out of the shower I went to check if my lovely insurance company got back to me yet.....but couldn't. Nyxie was unresponsive!!!! Power button didn't work. Had to pull the battery and it took forever to boot back up. Seems to be ok now but it was not a cool feeling to have a dead phone for a bit.

Hope everyone is having a good 12/12/12!!
Sounds like the screen of death / sleep of death that happens to me sometimes. Not sure what actually causes it, but my two fixes are a battery pull or to press the power button and volume buttons a few times and give it a minute or two. It usually kills whatever process is hanging up the device and starts to work again.
It is scary / annoying though.

You guys are my brain trust and I need your advice.
I turn the sounds off at night, but I would like to whitelist family members so their calls and texts can override the silent mode. I have found some whitelist and profile apps that let ringers through, but not text alerts.

Have you checked CritiCall? It's in the Play Store. After being in a wreck and stranded for hours because my Darling Bride was asleep with the phone by her bedside - ALL SOUNDS OFF! - I installed it on her phone so MY number would ring through despite her settings. Not sure how many numbers you can whitelist with it, but I like it.

Do you know of an app that will accomplish this?
Muchas gracias in advance.
I use Bedside. It gives me a night clock and silences the phone for alerts, calls and texts except for the phone numbers I white list.

Thanks guys. Heading to the Play Store now to check 'em out. Hopefully they allow texts to get through as well.

Holy Smokes! I have an unopened bottle of Jonnie Walker Gold label in my cabinet... I bought it in 1999 and it remains sealed. But even that can't hold a candle to FIFTY year old scotch!

Chief,
Glad you like it. Like I said, once I found it, it has worked wonders for me.
So on the way home, super packed bus. Woman about my age is sitting next to me and naturally I look over to see what phone she has (that's ALL I'm looking at!). And, she has a Nexus!
I ask her if she likes it and says she loves it. I mention I don't see them too often but she says she sees them all the time.
She has a really cool green android Cruzer case on it.
It wasn't rooted or anything so I showed her the "magic" of Sourcery. Yeah, I'm a geek like that. She was pretty impressed and wished me a nice night.
Fun times.

I hope you didn't ask her to beam with you, what would your wife say?!
Since I bought mine on launch day, I've only seen 3 other nexus phones. One was my GF's, one was my cousin's (who just sold it to get the Note 2), and this one random guy in the cafeteria where I work.
Speaking of launch day, 3 days until the official 1 year anniversary of when us Verizon launch day users got our hands on them. Man time flies.

Wow, i can't believe we have hit a year in just a few short days. Made me think about the salesman at my Verizon store... He is probably already gone, but I love my nexus more each day. I really don't know if i could switch to a non nexus phone. Hmmmmm...... Happy almost Anniversary all you release day buddies!

The one Roosevelt put together was the best. It was the Hitler vid about the pre-release issues. Pretty sure I can't link it anymore () but you can find it on Youtube. Loved it.

Yes that one was epic. It was the perfect release given what we were going through at the time.

Yeah, it's a bit more of a "sane" place without her. I know we all hope she's alright and returns soon. No doubt she'll come back, take one look at me and scream at Steven "you made HIM a Mod????"
