So I think I have found my thesis topic, I'm going to do it on rapid prototyping / 3D printing, especially the metal variety. Here is an example: it is made of steel, with a spiral staircase inside of it. (you can see the light reflecting off the steps at the top, and through the window). Could make one badass chess set
Also found out I am being made a sub lead at work. It's the first level of the leadership track at my company. Of course until you hit official management, all leadership positions are "permanent" frocks. no pay increase. but still kind of exciting. Great way to finish off the year

Anyone else thing it would be a great tactical move on Google's part to leave Google Maps on the iPhone for several months, maybe even a year, and then pull it from the store and force them to go back to the crappy Apple maps? LOL I bet they would get some to switch to Android that way.

Nah, it would just piss apple users off to never switch. No, nothing will be as effective as what Apple did themselves

The worst part is that they actually might because it violates the TOS for the app store. I think one of the conditions is that you may not release an app that directly competes with an apple app.
Though I think they'll make an exception in this case because the backlash would be out of this world.

I know that apple lets exceptions through for big name companies, which is why I believe the iphone has chrome available, but an individual developer cannot make an app that directly competes with an apple app. Every app gets submitted for approval by apple themselves and if they feel it competes, they reject it.
So not only does apple not want to compete on the open market, they don't want to compete in their own app store.
I don't know about everyone but its been a great week finals are over passed all my classes went to an amazing concert lastnight fells good man lol :-D

Morning folks! Being cold and having to work today prohibited me from sitting out under the stars last night for the meteor shower, but boy did I see a nice one while driving home last night after a Christmas party. It was about 9PM and this thing lit up the sky like a fireball! The wife and I sat out for the Perseids and the Leonids this year in a very rural area and a great view but none of those we saw were anywhere near as good as this one.
We saw a lesser one a few minutes later. Just to see any at all while driving with all the light polution is pretty amazing and means it had to be really bright.

Good Morning and Happy Friday. I need some MHL help. I purchased the "Juiced Systems 5 in 1 MHL Adapter - Supports MHL/USB Host/SDHC/MicroSDHC/Micro USB Power - Galaxy Nexus and NEXUS 7 Tablet" and am not sure if I am using it correctly. I need to be able to see the contents of an SD card. I downloaded Stickmount from the play store and it sees the device, and mounts it, but the folder for the card appears empty when it is not. Any ideas?

Good morning and happy Friday! I don't know if any of you stayed up for the meteor shower early this morning but it was 22 degrees at my house and I stayed out there 12 minutes and saw 15 meteors... including a fireball that lit up everything! It was spectacular.

I'm weak and take something every time I feel sick . It's just hilarious having voice or nose issues while lecturing . Though I'm sure they'd rather just have class canceled, but my students aren't that lucky.

Speaking of muscle relaxers and randoms....Anti, I can't take much more than an asprin or come to work or risk being sent home without pay for a few days or permanent termination and ban from all sites like mine. So I have to either tough it out with no meds or stay at home the entire time I'm on meds. Good thing I'm like Pup though, never been a fan of taking any meds unless I'm REALLY REALLY hurting.

Yeah I don't take medicine much, but I was really hurting. won't be doing it again that's for sure.
Boy, that didn't take long...cue the inappropriately timed gun control debate. It's an absolute shame to use a orrible tragedy like this as fuel for your own political agenda. News outlets and politicians need to keep their traps shut about it.
Edit: I'm not getting into whether I'm for or against gun control or the politics, just stating that this incident or any others should not turn into a debate about it, ever.

I feel bad for the families of the victims, and really sad for the young children that had to witness this. Stealing innocence at such a young age is a shame.
