You'll be fine! The Gnex is nearly impossible to brick.
Yeah, just don't use the command "fastboot delete bootloader" or replace the bootloader with a bad one and you should be able to recover from anything else.
First problem, ever, with my phone. It was scary! LOL
We've all been there at some point or another. At least this phone is so easy to fix because of how open it is compared to quite a few other phones. For that reason, among many others, I will be Nexus 4Life
Yea you can move your back up and put on new phone after rooting and your good to go...
Yes there you can use ADB and obtain a backup that way
The commands are out there I don't know it off the top of my head but wigz nexus toolkit on xda will make a backup from there
While in that toolbar you can flash back to stock and relock. All with out touching your phone
Well, I was wrong. I assumed I would be able to open my GNex on my computer, but neither the Mac or the PC sees it. Looks like I'll lose everything I had on my phone that wasn't backed up to my computer.
I'm still dumbfounded as to how I lost root? At no point did I do an OTA. I ended up losing some numbers and all my text messages. The pics and video are no big deal. I would say most of those that I would want are probably on Facebook anyways?

Sorry for your troubles Captain. I would be in the same boat. Even though I have TiBu set up to back up automatically and to back up to drop box, it does not back up to drop box automatically. Thanks for the reminder!
Well color me impressed. The iphone has an app that takes a 360 degree panorama by itself. You stand the phone up on a table, start the app and it uses the phones vibration to turn it 360 degrees.
I think I might keep my phone where it is at for a bit LOL
92 apps trying update at the same time now.
You do know you can make a flash able zip through TiB and flash in recovery so they are all done and not re download them for the market?
I have done and saves hours... But if I am not mistaken this feature is unlocked if you pay for pro

Sorry man but starting from scratch could be a good thing every once and awhile

can't wait for this phone, got a razr and have been loving the phone. but,as my girlfriend pointed out, I keep comparing the device to the nexus. Just the other day i was showing her the screen and how bright it is, only to mention the nexus and how its even better!
hopefully i dont get run around trying to exchange my razr!
You might as well get the nexus 4 its price is very similar.

Why what happened yesterday? Did you nearly brick it?
I was going to flash the new Sourcery and Gapps. When I started Titanium it said I wasn't rooted . I thought maybe it was glitch with the app and decided to flash anyways. The only downside to Titanium not working at that point was some of my newer apps would have to be reinstalled from the market, so I figured what the heck. Went into CW, did everything to flash as normal, started phone back up and it wouldn't do anything. I was being told Setup Wizard was not resoponding and something about gapps? I managed to get the phone turned back off and tried again. Same thing happened. Went back into CW tried to restore a backup and for some reason I had none?
I hadn't used Wugs Toolkit in forever and wasn't sure if I still had everything installed but I plugged my phone in anyways and flashed back to stock, completely wiping my phone. So I lost everything, obviously.
Coincidentally, I mentioned two days ago how I wanted to flash back to stock. Reason being just to wipe the phone and possibly get rid of any little things that might get left behind from adding and removing stuff that might bog down the phone. But the way it happened I never got a chance to save the stuff I wanted.
I have no idea how I lost root? I never did an OTA. No, I didn't brick it. But considering I never had a problem with phone like that, to me, it was scary. My hands were shaking the whole time.

Ye when I first rooted I thought I bricked it or something as I was stuck on the startup screen for 5 minutes but it eventually started up. I was shaking the whole time but bow it starts up really fast. Must of been a first time thing.
Searching for Sugar Man. Highly recommended! This guys music is wonderful! The movie(documentary) as about an artist from the 70's named Rodriguez. He was/is virtually unknown in the States. Although, because of the movie he made it on to Letterman.

Halon, that sucks - I wonder what happened that broke your root?
ATTENTION readers!
Yes, lurkers, even consummate crack-flashers get nervous. My pulse speeds up every time I start to ROM my phone. At least Halon had an idea what to do to get his phone working again. Ask lots of questions BEFORE doing anything!

I think it's generally the consensus that the Galaxy Nexus is virtually un-brickable. But we've all seen the posts: "Help! I did something and now it doesn't boot up!" Just a friendly reminder to folks to do their due diligence and know what they're doing and WHY before they do it
All too often, I think it's one of two things:
-their rooting method is flawed
or
-they don't have a backup/nandroid to fall back on
If both those were avoided, we'd see so much fewer problems.

I think Dread is right, backup is really the key. I am guilty of using Tibu to back up on the phone but bad at putting it on the computer or drop box. Lessons to be remembered for sure.
I use to be so lazy when it came to making backups and exporting them to my computer as well. I learned my lesson real quick when the GSM 4.1 port came out and kept having weird issues that would result in my phone randomly rebooting and then subsequently getting caught in a bootloop. With no backup for 4.0.4, I flashed myself back to stock (manually because I'm hardcore like that ). At least this device is so easy to fix, and as long as you don't mess around with the bootloader partition, it seems to be unbrickable.
Morning all! Been quiet the past few days, trying to enjoy the last few days of my vacation with the kids since I'm back at work today. Hope everyone had a great new year.

Good morning all & Happy New Year.
Starting 2013 off with a cold or something - extremely congested and can't breathe. Took some meds this morning, hopefully something kicks in sooner or later. Oh well means 2013 can only get better from here on out.

Never export my backups to the pc. Even if I have to start fresh it's no problem. A few apps I need to log into and I'm ready to go, no problems.
Wish I could say the same. It's been a huge pain installing everything to a new phone. Granted, most of my important stuff was synced to my computer, but there still are some things I lost that I won't be able to recover.
I can't get JBSourcery to install on the new phone. I've redownloaded the .zip file, tried both TWRP and CWM and both give me an error message "assert failed getprop ro.product.device"
I'm now going to try another ROM but any suggestions?

Happy New Year everyone!!! (Yes, I know I'm late)
The house is finally back to normal and it's quiet again. My uncle and cousin were here and I love them dearly but having people here for 5 1/2 days is wearing on a person's patience. And they're kinda nosy so I kept mostly to mundane things like Words with Friends. This is actually the first day that the laptop has been out in over a week.
Hello from Moscow! Wasn't able to drop a line in here before leaving, so I'm hopping on the wifi here in the airport to pop my head in! We have a stopover for about two hours here before flying the rest of the way to Israel. I'll try to say hello again when I can, hope all of you are well!

Welcome back oh great leader hope you had fun...
So we all must ask what is everyone's resolutions?
Mine is so common lol I am gonna keep losing weight I have dropped 25 pounds in the last 6-7 weeks so it's more of a continuation
Well, my new nephew was born yesterday. Samuel David.
I told some folks at work and they responded, "That's a really Jewish name". Made me laugh as the mother is a pretty serious Irish Catholic.

That's a new one for being Jewish... Normally gold Stine Steen lol
My wife, was like huh, it's just a very biblical name.
We were trying to guess what it'd be. They're a very traditional family. Two daughters already: Elizabeth and Catherine. This name seems to fit with the "tradition". Hehe
Ha! No.
I was hoping they'd go with mine, Daniel.
But, I guess that might have been "weird".
My middle name, Eaton, is the same as my fathers'. Comes from an old ancestor who we thought came over on the Mayflower, but later discovered it was something my grandmother made up.

Good morning everyone - its crazy that its Thursday already.
Dealing with tons of issues at work so I will be in & out today, but my car finally gave me its first check engine light over the weekend. Hopefully nothing serious - it seems to be driving just fine for now so we shall see if I can diagnose myself after pulling the code tonight.
