Tbh history have never showed much history over here anyway. Other channels show more historic programming. History over here show programs such pawn stars ice road trucker american restoration and programmes of the sort, never really any history related show. They don't really live up to there name.

History Channel used to be pretty good with REAL LIVE HISTORY stuff. Now it's junk. My theory? The average viewer out there isn't interested in real live history stuff: they want junk. Ergo, Honey Boo Boo and the myriad other crap on TV. History Channel has to pay the bills, so junk it is.
Ye i agree. Plus I think all those shows are fake. Storage wars for example. Personally I would much rather watch a documentary on WW2 or something than any of those shows.

Do you remember when History Channel used to have shows about history?

Sad commentary on our society, if you ask me...
Oh, you didn't ask me
Have you ever listened to this podcast called Stuff You Missed in History Class?
You can search for it in an app called Beyond Podcast. Pretty cool snippets.
Seems like everything on TV is fluff nowadays.

Okay folks, I need you to help me out of a technological quandary here...
The Darling Bride has approved an expenditure. ONE. Of two choices:
I can buy a 256GB SSD for my 4 y/o, 15.6" Vista G-speed laptop for $180, making it incredibly faster and more productive than it is now. OR I can buy a new $1100 17.3" Win7 N-speed laptop with Blu-Ray player, 750GB hard drive and basically changing my life for the better... but at 9 times the cost. I certainly don't NEED 750GB of space, and I don't WANT another hard drive. It would be a long time before I could afford a 750GB SSD to replace it. BUT: For $130, I could buy a 750GB Hybrid Drive with all the speed and none of the cost. PLUS of course the SquareTrade Warranty on both.
Samsung 840 Series SSD for the POS?
Or the HP dv6-7014nr with a hybrid drive at 11 times the cost?
You would think this to be a no-brainer, but it's not for me... besides, my mind is fried tonight. Can you just give me some advice here? THANKS GUYS
Normal life expectancy for a laptop is 18 - 24 months I believe. So you're already on borrowed time perhaps. What components might fail relatively soon? I'd go for the new system.

I'm the wrong person to ask. If you give me more than one choice I go for the latest and greatest, most expensive and top of the line. But since you asked...I'd get the laptop in a heartbeat
I dislike choices.

It has already failed once. SquareTrade to the rescue! So yeah, it's on borrowed time. I may have to splurge for once in my life... but there's a lot of other stuff in real life here that ought to take higher precedence. I'd lose sleep spending more on a computer than I have ever spent.
But I'd have a heckuva laptop to surf on while suffering from insomnia
Was watching a hockey game at the sports bar not too long ago and it was a Canadian channel. I saw a cell phone provider commercial...1GB for $60/month.

And if I remember correctly, Canadian carriers trap their customers for 3 years, and we thought 2 years was bad.

The entire cell phone service is completely absurd. It needs a huge overhaul. I wish Google would do a national cell service that would turn the system on its head.
So I've decided to part ways with Nexy. Sniff sniff....
I have gotten too used to my apple devices that I've decided to make my transformation complete. I have an iPad and a Mac. It's now time to go over to the dark side completely and let the sweet mindless evil consume me.....
But hey, I don't think Chief will bar me from hanging out here from time to time, right?

You're welcome anytime Han. Sorry that Android didn't do it for you but it's not a universal OS. There's enough room on this planet for both Android and iOS
Chief, I recently put a 250GB SSD in my 3 year old laptop after the hard drive started to fail, and it definitely made it a kid again.
My reasoning was I can get a good price on an SSD by itself, a LOT better than any full system would charge to upgrade to an SSD anyways. So when I do finally get a new laptop, I will just get one with a regular hard drive and move the SSD over myself.

Great thoughts, Anti.
Yeah, I figure that the new laptop, hybrid hard drive and SquareTrade on both will run about $1500 and there's no telling how long it would be "top of the line".
Sure, it'll do everything I want or need it to do and I would expect it to last a good 4 years. Still, that's $375 a year for the privilege of replacing my aging laptop (which I might sell and offset the cost by $150-$200).
Or like you said: $150-$200 for an SSD and turn my aging laptop into a much faster (but still aging) laptop.
Haha, it was the most liked comment on YT.
Apparently there's 3 more youngins growing up. One is already learning the mandolin. Can't wait to see if something comes of it!

Good morning everyone - nice 3-day weekend for me and back to work today. Really hurting from the gym yesterday, but the good kind of hurt.
Everyone that has flashed JBS 4.5.6, how is it performing for you. Lately on 4.5 (regular) I have been seeing a ton of lag when unlocking the phone and typing on the keyboard. I want to attribute it to the amount of apps I have so I am going to do a nice big uninstall today because I think I am at around 200 total apps and that seems like quite a lot honestly.
Also planning on doing my first all-grain homebrew recipe this upcoming weekend. Going to be a simple, one malt / one hop recipe to get me started, but should be very delicious nonetheless. I bottled my Pilsner and Blue Moon clone yesterday with the day off. Cannot wait for those to be done - pretty stoked on those.
Chief - did you pick up a Vavo from UDS, that honestly gets a bit more use than my Capta does because it sits on my side table next to me bed. BUT they're Kickstarter releases have been awesome so far - cannot wait to see what else they have in store for us.

Also this is an awesome extension to DashClock - not sure if anyone posted it and I skipped over it or not, but its worth posting again. I honestly think this is what the lock screen widget SHOULD have been.

No Stigy, I don't have a Vavo but I DO have my Capta and use that thing every night as my bedside stand for Ginny. I still have the issue, though, with cables wanting to go everywhere but where I want them to... and Snable will fix that, so I DO hope it gets funded.
I've been on Sourcery 4.5 since it came out and it has had a lot of lag and just acting weird in general.
Clean install? Haven't had too many glitches with AOKP, on the stock kernel. Crossing my fingers that the Gnex isn't reaching eol with ROMs. Remember when my Droid was just limping along with later Gingerbread ROMs.

Ah yeah I hope so too - just backed it. Pretty excited about it if it makes it, which it should.

Stigy, if you need any tips or help with the brew/recipe, let me know!
Definitely will do - going with the Brew in a Bag (BIAB) method this time around so we'll see how it goes! Really excited to try it out.

Probably double posting, but just saw this.
I've been seeing the same thing lately in 4.5 (from a clean install). Home screen redraws and lag on the keyboard and in Chrome.
Maybe I will go to AOKP - dread you liking it? Is it 4.2.2 based?

Ha, know what you're talking about but never tried it.
I have a massive 60qt cooler and hand made cpvc manifold I use. Works great but my efficiency isn't the best with batch sparging. My brew pot is awesome though. Welded a nice drain pipe for it. Works okay unless I use too many whole leaf hops.
I've also tried the no chill method and the resulting beer turned out fine so if you don't have a good chiller, give it a shot.

I installed it after I completely wiped my phone and started over.
Don't ship any Sim card, as the buyer will need to get their own.
Ok, but what happens if I do ship it to them? I jumped the gun and told them I'd send it because I'll be getting a new one with my new phone.
What I'm planning on doing is this: After work I will go to Verizon and purchase my new phone and activate it on my current line. The Nexy will obviously be deactivated.
I will then ship the Nexy out to the buyer, presumably with the 4G sim card installed. Once he activates it on Verizon, all will be good, no? His 4G usage won't show up on my bill, right?

The sim is tied to you. Just let the buyer know you found this out and you won't be sending it along. My speculation is that it would be useless to him anyway, but I'm not sure if any of your info is on it.
