The event for Htc's first flagship phone of the year has started. (sarcasm)

The never version of Sense is called Blink Feed. Or, Htc version of Windows Phone for Android.

I don't see Verizon listed in the press release, if anyone was interested in it. I think Verizon will get a different version.

I honestly have NO idea what phone I want to get when my GNex time is up.

Honestly I feel I could last MUCH longer if the camera on this thing was decent - its pretty awful honestly.

You know, that's exactly what pushed me over the edge!!

We were out with some friends a few days ago in downtown Chicago, and of course we were all taking pics. I pulled out my trusty Nexy at the Bean and snapped a few photos. My wife's phone-that-shall-not-be-named turned out with stunning pics! Mine looked like crap. That's when I finally gave Nexy a sad look and decided to take her out to the woodshed.

Not to mention that her 4G signal is always full in the same spot that mine is at 1 bar or on 3G signal. But the picture comparisons were just too much.

I'm now waffling on maybe activating an old droid that my dad gave me and waiting til the SGS IV, or maybe taking the plunge now and going with the sheep.

I really love my DNA, camera is much better, and i get fantastic signal... And since you are ok with the iPhone, the non removable battery and no sd card isn't a deal breaker...

Have you experienced an S3 yet? I think it is a great phone and I'm sure the S4 will be even better.

Yes, I'm going to check out the DNA before I buy anything.

My dad has an S3 and loves it. I've played around with it some, and it's pretty good, but doesn't really blow me away. I'm tempted to at least wait out the S4 announcement and see what's what, though...

if all the roumours come true about the S4 including the samsung enxos(sp) processor that thing will be a wet dream to any techie ... it could almost be the phone to end all ... to have octa CPU and GPU with 2 GB of ram ... what more you you want let alone need in a smartphone? i mean it would be better then 95% of all other computers in use today

I don't understand why Oems are still releasing devices with non removable batteries with less than a 3000 mAh capacity. It's practically a crime consisting Motorola released the Razr maxx a year ago and no one has followed that example on their flagship devices. If it wasn't for those locked bootloaders.

Here ya, Jhawk. Only thing that would give me to go the sealed back route is a pretty rugged, splashproof phone which some of the new Sonys are.

Oh, put ME on the hook, will ya?

It's really hit or miss: my son is on JB Sourcery and has a few squirrelly issues that I don't have. I have found that Popcorn v12 is a pretty snappy kernel when flashed with 4.5.5... but yeah, there is some lag nonetheless.

Could be that our RAM is filling up with "stuff". Could be it's just tired.

Could be that the Nexus (much like I suspected of the OG Droid before it) has a "self-destruct" chip in it that tells it to start acting in infuriating ways right about upgrade time. Do I smells a conspiracy?

All I can suggest is what you've likely already done: clean caches, keep running apps to a minimum, move what you can to internal memory... all the usual suspects.

And wait it out until (a) March 14th when the SGS4 is unleashed or (b) late May when the Motorola/Nexus X is put out there for us to salivate over.

Fortunately I'm still very happy with my GNex so I'm not in a rush to replace it. (A better camera would be nice!) I got an iPad mini for my birthday so that satisfies my geek need for a while.

That said, the S3 does look nice so I imagine I may be tempted by the S4.

Now I have a conundrum. Thanks to a heads up post from EarlyMon, I have become aware that I shouldn't use my big tank battery because it had apparently swelled /expanded and isn't safe. If I want to buy a second one, it's going to cost me 35 dollars before tax and shipping when I originally bought it for 15. Do I do it or go back to using two batteries?

It feels weird being this thin. I had gotten so use to the thickness the big battery added.

Check with VZW. I think they put all of their GNex accessories half off when they EOL'd the device. The may still have some OEM extended batteries.

Thanks for the tip, my employer discount gives me an extra 25 percent off accessories. So that might be a good route.

Edit: Verizon website doesn't have any batteries listed under all accessories

Wouldn't trust their website for anything.
I remember several years ago having to buy a new charger for my flip phone which was quickly discontinued. It may have been way back in the store, but they found it nonetheless (and it was quite cheap).

LOL. I know, I know. It's not my first choice of platforms, but the iOS is the only format supported for my pilot manuals.

After using it for a few weeks I can honestly say I'm still a die hard Android fan!

Got my fingers crossed, it is in process now. I have the stock boot animation in process. I will check in when i see where i end up.
I know it's been a while, but I tried these steps to unroot and lock, and it didn't work.

Did you have to uninstall SU first or something? It just seems to reboot for a while and then I'm back setting up JBSourcery.

If you have your access to a computer, your best bet is to flash a factory image through the bootloader. This will wipe it back to 100% factory stock with nothing from left you left behind.

Evening all! Happy to see everyone. My nexus 7 just successfully took an OTA and did not lose root... YAY! On A Nexie note, I too have had a lot of lag lately. Thinking about using Wugs to go completely stock, un root and lock. Then start over, any thoughts?

What ROM are you running Copa? Before going stock (gag), you should wipe and consider JDX (the ROM formerly known as JellyBelly) Pretty fast and stock-like without the bells and whistles of some of the other ROMs.

Welcome back Capn!
I agree JDX/Jelly Belly is worth a shot, I like it because it's smooth and pretty close to stock.
Hope everyone is having a good week so far. Had a crazy day today making up for the day off yesterday... But all is well.

Had to make an extended phone call to samsung this morning, having some issues with the Apps ID needed for my TV and blue ray... Seems Noone knows why I can't add my CC#, lol. Was pretty fun to walk through the script with tech support tho.. Haha
Also finally got the gaming computer brought down and hooked up to the TV.. Tomorrow mornings game of choice? Skyrim! Oh and I am still trying to figure out the best way to get the cable shows of our choice through the Internet.. More about that soon...

I did that not to long ago. After about 2 weeks or so I flashed Sourcery 4.5 and I have been have lag and just plain weirdness. I'm currently waiting for 4.6 to see if there is a difference.

Good to see Capt. Ron back! This is just a fun place to check in.
Grandma has an unrelated question. It's probably simple, but it's late and I'm afraid my brain has no more to give: I need to forward a work number to my Gnex. I have followed all the steps on the Yealink office phone , but the calls still don't come to MY cell. I will check in the morning. This old girl just needs to stop.....now. Good night, young people.

Morning! So i guess that means SwiftKey Flow Beta will be expiring soon huh? I really like that keyboard, so will definitely be supporting swiftkey 4.

Had a delta flight run off into the grass/mud here in Savannah last night. Came in hot, and tried to make the turn for the last taxiway, but didn't make it. I just pictured Cap'n facepalming at his colleague.

She is a sweetheart. However, I'm a Today Show person.

And that's why every station has their own show - different preferences.
(And I'll be nice and keep my opinions to myself on this one)

I'll admit, part of it is that since we use an OTA antenna for tv, NBC comes in the best, and that's generally the reason why it's the only channel we watch.
Plus, I love Kathy Lee and Hoda when I can catch em.

I love the fact that they built it into the normal SwiftKey app so that I don't need to buy a other just for the flow. I probably would have, but like the fact that I don't have to.

Good Morning all and thanks for the suggestions. Captain, I am on Sourcery 4.5. I think I will see if sourcery 4.6 makes a difference and if not, i am going to try JDX. If I do end up relocking and returning to stock, i wont stay there, just go there to try and clean everything up and then unlock re-root and flash again. However, Halon did this and has had "just plain weirdness" that is a great way to describe my issues. EG, sometimes the screen is black and i can not get it back on , then it randomly comes on by itself. Other times, i can not answer a call and finally, it freezes.

However, I do still love our Nexie and do not think I will be upgrading soon, plus, so far nothing i "need" more, lol. Have a great Hump Day everyone!

Morning all... I agree.. Drooling over Glass this morning.
Also, since Google is having a developers meeting here in Austin in a couple of weeks, I am trying to score the pass needed to attend. Would be fantastic!
Hope everyone has a great hump day!

Small update on the Media Center this morning... Lag on audio syncing with the video on streaming episodes from both A&E and History shows.. Not sure why since NBC, CBS and ABC shows are synced properly... Going to try out an HGTV show next, see what happens. Might be the connection I have with TWC, not sure yet.
