Morning folks! Wednesday night/yesterday morning was quite the adventure. Wife apparently got food poisoning and couldn't keep anything down. After just a couple of sips of water, a few minutes later it would come back up. So after about 10 hours of her throwing up every hour we went to the ER and they got a couple of liters of fluid in her and some nausea medication. Didn't get home and get any real sleep till about 9AM.

She's feeling a little better today, obviously weak and very sensitive stomach still, but able to keep fluids down. So things are back on the up and up.

Nice, just 2 weeks out from moving back to the land of sunshine, and what do I get in Chicago?

Sunshine and warm weather!

Argh!

Geek, sorry to hear about your wife! Give her our best wishes.

Just poking my head to make sure you're all doing well Definitely need to update my ROM, the GNex has been been crawling lately and getting lots of force reboots. I think I asked this last time I came around, but what ROM are you guys all using lately? Is the newest version of JBsourcery better on battery life? I definitely need something that's going to let me get more use out of the phone. I'm getting around 4 hours usually these days before I need to hit the charger.

Also, what's the latest on the Moto X? Is that still the most appealing successor for when we're all due for upgrades?

I'm currently running jailbroken 6.1.2

I have my eyes open on the Moto X and the Note III though.

I have to admit that I do prefer the solid glass and metal of the device over the Nexy, and thereís still a lot of customization you can do once youíre jailbroken (nowhere near as much as Android, though).

But Iím not sure if I like it better than Android, though. Everyone always goes on an on about how much better the iOS apps are than the Android ones, but I donít really see it. Some are better than Android (iBooks is wonderful), but some Android offerings are better (video players especially!). I think I will come back to the fold when the Note III or the Moto X comes out.

Uh oh. Perhaps I've waited too long to update my ROM. My phone is now stuck in a restart loop :/ Not a bootloop, it does get to my menu screen, but before it can load everything, it restarts all over again.

...Anyone got any thoughts? Haha.

EDIT: Tried a battery pull, blowing out some dust, etc, put battery back in.. same thing. Gets to menu screen, but before icons load, it goes back into reboot. Argh.

Hmm, I haven't made a backup in a while either - bad Android owner

Honestly, I'm considering just doing a factory reset. Should I even bother? Does that bring me back to the stock ROM/kernel? I doubt it will re-lock the bootloader, but maybe it would undo some of the damage I've done. Can I get a system dump of all my apps without getting into my phone before I erase everything?

A factory reset will delete USER data on the phone... but it won't fix a corrupt ROM. You can try just re-flashing the ROM / Gapps without a data wipe. That may fix your issues and you won't lose anything.

Do NOT, though, try to dirty flash from your old ROM to a new one. That will require a full wipe

I mean, I'd love to do a full wipe and go to a new ROM, but I can't get my phone functional enough to put the new ROM files on it. Argh.

Will try re-flashing - thanks!

No, I can go into recovery, thankfully. But how can I upload files onto my phone from recovery mode?

Haha, yikes, I forgot I finally installed TWRP on this thing.. but I haven't used it yet I have no idea how to flash things!

EDIT: Okay, re-flashed the ROM and GApps, did not wipe anything. Crossing my fingers.

EDIT2: Ugh, still won't stay on more than a few seconds before restarting. Aaaand I lost my JBsourcery customizations.

If you can get into TWRP, wipe cache, Dalvik, factory reset. Install ROM and Gapps (you can stack the zips) and swipe. Reboot system

I hesitate to wipe everything, because I think it's the ROM that's corrupted. Anyone know much about Mac SDK? Are the commands the same as Windows SDK?

Problem is, Razor, that the user data has settings and configuration data in there for the ROM. If a fresh ROM is flashed, it's looking at the old settings and configurations (which may actually be the culprit). and may cause conflict. You can try to dirty flash the ROM, but if that fails, a full wipe is the next logical troubleshooting step.

Hi Copacetic!! Was wondering where you had gone. Glad all is ok. I had a problem at one point (don't remember which version) and it resolved after I turned off WiFi.

Really appreciate your help Chief. I suppose wiping everything will be inevitable, but what's the point if the ROM is corrupted, you know? I'm working with NYCHitman, who says the SDK can be used to load new files, but he's only used the Windows version, not the Mac, which is what I've got. I just need to know if the commands are the same.

I'm sorry, RS. It's never fun when the phone acts up and it doesn't help when your friends make jokes about it.

Speaking of acting up, recently I quite often find my phone (AOKP 5) searching for GPS, which of course is a huge battery drain. What's the easiest way to find out what app is is the culprit?

Good luck RS. I had that issue once. Can you just try wiping cache, but not data?

if you're referring to adb commands do a search in the VZW GNX ATR section. I and others have posted them many times in that forum. I use a mac as well.

On a Mac from within the folder -

./adb-mac rest of command line
./fastboot-mac rest of command line

Trophy,

I'm a long time Broncos fan, but although I have no dog in the Alabama vs Auburn rivalry, my favorite bumper stickers of all time was the one I saw that said "My Two Favorite Teams are Alabama, and who ever is playing against Auburn!"

I'm tempted to order a similar t-shirt or bumper sticker for my U of Utah son who absolutely hates BYU.

You might wanna take a look at Better Battery Stats. You can find in the Play Store or if you are a member of XDA, here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=15869868

Good luck RS... Hopefully you are up and running in no time.
Congrats BB! And how is the Ta-Ta total going?

Hope everyone has something fun planned this weekend. Up early and ready to go back to bed... If only that were possible!
Got taxes filed this week. Have a new butcher shop, with salami and cheeses, to find and purchase from today, and looking forward to a big family Skype with my entire family later today!

Morning Ryan!

Busy weekend for me, working this morning, then this afternoon getting together with my wife's mom's side, and then church on Sunday and her dad's side.

Hope everyone else has a great Easter weekend

Default Vacation, not so much..

We went to DC fit the week. It started well but then I landed in the hospital after blacking out and coughing blood. It turns out I have step pneumonia, which became septic (blood infection). I went into the ER then they out me into ICU fit the night because I was in bad shape.

You see my bp had crashed too lie as my body couldn't fight off the sepsis.

They hit me with all sorts of stuff to stabilize me. I hit out if ICU and into a regular bed last night and was finally able to her some sleep. I feel much better. I hope they release me by tonight..

Take care all.

Steven

i'm still bothered by the Dumervil situation. It made it a little worse when he got picked up by the Ravens.....at least we got Welker though. That will be huge.

Razor, have you tried Wug's Nexus toolkit? That will take you all the way back as far as you need to go, reflash Recovery, etc.
