I like the show a lot, but some of the differences from the books bother me. I haven't sat down to watch any of this season yet, though. And I really didn't like book 4 at all, especially coming off of how good book 3 was. The newest book is good but considering how long it took to come out, I was still disappointed.

Game of Thrones is more or less fantasy, right?
If so, I've really no interest. Can't stand LOTR. Tried to watch it a couple times but just bores me to death.

Don't watch too many shows. I love The Daily Show and Colbert since I'm a politics junkie and other than that, usually food related stuff.
Also, anything comedy related (Parks and Recreation, Arrested Development, Bob's Burgers).
Movie wise, just about anything except fantasy. I can do sci-fi for the most part though. Wife is the one who loves fantasy and is a lot of the books she reads.

Good Morning all, RL has been keeping me busy but i have been trolling. Wow, what a wet and cool spring we have had, here it is May 7 and we are still struggling to get past 70. The ocean is cooler than usual, that might not be a bad thing when hurricane season starts June 1. Have a great Tuesday!

By the way, just to follow up on my previous post - the ZeroLemon extended battery has an NFC chip as well. Puts it above lots of other batteries IMO.

Yes, it's fantasy, but it's pretty different than LOTR. LOTR is the quintessential example of what's known as "high fantasy" - fantastical creatures, magic, a focus on one or a small group of protagonists and their singular struggle against a force of evil.

Game of Thrones is closer to "Sword and sorcery" fantasy, although it contains certain elements of high fantasy as well. Game of Thrones has constantly shifting viewpoints; rather than one main character (ie. Bilbo, Frodo) it has a huge cast, it gives you different viewpoints of the events of the books and adds a very interesting depth of perspective. However, there's really very little of the "sorcery" part present. Game of Thrones is very gritty fantasy - battles, battles, and more battles; court politics, intrigue, backstabbing, plots, and lots of character development. The characters in LOTR hardly ever change, their alignments are set and we don't get much in the way of development, with of course the notable exception of Frodo fighting the influence of the Ring. Game of Thrones has the most character development of any series I've ever read, and I've read a lot of fantasy. There's storylines upon storylines taking place all over the world that the author created, it doesn't focus on just one group of characters. It's about as different from LOTR as you can get while still being called fantasy. It's getting more and more mainstream acceptance, so it's definitely not just for fantasy readers. I'd really recommend it - why not try watching an episode or two of the show and see if it draws you in?

Saw, Splay. Interesting.
Just loaded up the latest Paranoid with HALO. Pretty cool. Trying Pie controls again for the first time in forever. Only notification I'd really like is a battery percent. Emailed Roman (dev for Dash Clock) to see if he could add a battery notification to that widget. Would be nice to have for the lockscreen. ROM has been a little buggy though. Already froze up twice (after a complete wipe before loading, didn't restore anything with TiBu).

Well, grabbed a deal on a refurbished 32GB Nexus 7, $129 plus tax after rebate. So I'll be back in the Nexus game once it arrives.

That said, the company's thrown a handful of surprises that may change one's mind. For one, to solve the ergonomic issue, the Xplay comes with a single-hand mode dubbed "Free Touch": shake the phone sideways twice and you'll get a small window mirroring the current screen in your preferred lower corner (as pictured above) in real time, thus letting you tap your desired spot or scroll the web page with your holding thumb. What's more, you can also set your preferred window size to suit your thumb.
Vivo Xplay boasts 5.7-inch 1080p screen, dedicated audio chips and nifty single-hand mode

Afternoon folks.

Could BGR get any more Apple-biased? You're right "geniuses". It's definitely no iPad

Google Glass Analysis: Google Glass is no iPad | BGR
As much as I don't like BGR, I sorta agree. The iPad, when released, really was pushing the bar in terms of what tablets could do. Sure, Windows tabs had been around, but awful outside of business uses.
Google Glass really is something revolutionary and has no other corollary to compare it to. It's something that will need development and future iterations to be as common as a smart phone or tablet.
I'm excited for the future of tech, but Glass isn't something I'm ready to jump on anytime soon.

The thing is, Glass wasn't meant to be an iPad or anything similar. It was meant to introduce a whole new category of device. That's much bigger than the iPad. The iPad was honestly just a bigger iPhone and still is

Sooo Discount Tire has amazing customer service.

Because I bought the "replacement certificates" last time ... no questions asked, I have two brand new tires on their way to me middle of next week to replace the tires that won't hold a bead on the wheel.

Hi folks, been absent for a week or so, I "think" I read everything back, but if I missed it, then get well, congratulations, wipe first, backup, good job, and I can't wait. I hope that covers everything.

Life has a way of testing your merits by taxing you in every way it can at once. I'm good. Most of my distractions are positive, thought work will probably wind up being a net negative.

James Franco, who will play a writer who accidentally caused the death of a child... will be played by Bill Cosby.

Don't see anything wrong there. It did say read more in the blurb.

Not great, and yes, I touched it up for contrast and size, but, I pulled in to a convenience store as this storm was rolling over the mesa towards the mountains. This is pretty gray, sometimes the clouds take on thermonuclear colors.

Just had my phone, but the best camera is the one you have when you need it.

New Mexico, facing east to the Sandia Mountains.

PS - Nevermind, the upload really smacked the size and details. Fwiw, those mountains are just under 5,000 feet higher at their peak than my vantage point there.

I put that here because that's the view Han may be seeing if he's out here.

PPS - Here's a link to a bigger one.

Great shot Early. Seems like one would soon expect a landing of the Close Encounters mother ship.

Neither.

Plain old shot on my LTEvo, then Apple Preview to crop out the foreground (wish I had a better foreground, it hurts the composition without a bit more), minor exposure / contrast settings, then downsample from 3k wide to 1600 px wide.

Shame the CNET authors don't realise that you can't use the sd card for apps any more.

Don't think I've ever done it, but no more Apps2SD? Is this a JB thing?

Without root, apps2sd just trades off one internal storage partition for another, for a net no change.

Getting apps to the actual sd card is more work altogether and doesn't help if the app insists on writing to the /data partition, as many of the larger ones do anyway.

Yeah common problem. Verizon CSRs have the same problem.
