BTW - I'm going on record here - I do not believe that there will be a Google Edition of the HTC One.

If there is then Boomsound would be lost (Beats is proprietary, and Beats is required to get the volume and sound promised out of the stereo speakers) and Zoe and the other HTC camera features would be lost.

I know that I'm bucking the word of a significant someone who's spreading this - but - that's my opinion.

Well, if it does launch on other carriers, as it appears to be, guess it won't be a Droid which is a good thing. I'm interested..... Really just hope it has a Maxx sized battery though and a decent camera.

Why wouldn't it be a DROID? Oh ye of little faith. Verizon will happily delay their version a month or more to shoehorn 3GB of bloat.

Well, they've already done a Droid X, so what would they call this one?

I completely forgot about Google Translate!

No mention of camera. Also of note, the above quote is from a Japanese blog.

After looking through the FCC papers the only thing I noticed was Bluetooth 4.0 and pretty much everything else made no sense to me. There was the standard letter of confidentiality and a list of vague features. Oh. And test complete date was April 30.

And I just noticed this: This product utilizes an internal battery that is not removable.

Hello watering hole! RL has kept us busy, we rent our beach house to vacationers in the summer so we have spent the last two weeks preparing for the tourists and moving for the summer. But we are settled now in the much cooler mountains and have time to breathe. Some of you may remember I was having intermittent trouble with the nexus 7 dimming to black when rotated into landscape. I was just getting ready to send it back to Google when you will never believe with what I discovered. It only happens when I am sitting outside with... Wait for it... Polarized sun glasses on! Take off the glasses, no problems. Lol, who would guess that, not even Google knew.

Okay, so GOOD NEWS: JBSourcery 5.3 is finally out

BAD NEWS: TWRP apparently has an issue in its wiping. Even when wiping data, there are things left un-wiped:

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=41185553&postcount=3317

Read and weep, fellow TWRP users. I really love TWRP but I'm tempted to give CWM another try again

I was just about to post the news of Sourcery.

On another note, I don't understand the writeup posted on XDA. I've read it twice and I'm not getting it. Any ideas? I use TWRP 2.5 FWIW.

I find it weird that the wiping issue always seems to track back to Sourcery. I'll have to take a look myself on my other devices to see if maybe it's device based.

The article is claiming that twrp is leaving behind user files even when performing full wipes that should wipe the device clean.

That post doesn't make any sense to me. Twrp skips wiping data/media when you do a factory reset.

This is by design, because that's your "internal" SD card.

The user is still seeing the '0" folder because its in data/media (aka on the SD card)

Based on his post, its doing exactly what it should be

See, I get that part. However, when I used CWM, the clockwork folder was on the virtual SD, which, regardless of recovery, doesn't get wiped during normal wiping procedures when flashing a ROM. If it did, you wouldn't have a ROM to flash in recovery, because the SD would be wiped. So I don't get the user's example.

Maybe I need to read it again?

Except I think the claim is that he choose to do a full internal data wipe and that got left behind, not a simple factory reset. Or, at least that's what I thought was being said. I just did one of these on an S3 two weeks ago and there wasn't anything left; so if there is indeed an issue it must be localized on the gnex.

Even when you wipe data, it skips /data/media by design.

Actually, wiping data and doing a factory reset are the exact same things. This os because cache and dalvik cache are in /data as well

Twrp for the s3 behaves the same way. You still have all of the files in /data/media after a wipe

If it did wipe data/media, all your ROM zips, photos, and twrp backups would get wiped

Yeah, that's what the factory reset is suppose to do. But there is a separate option in twrp that enables complete wiping of the entire internal memory, including media, similar to what happens when you unlock. That's what I think the post author was talking about, but I could be wrong.

Ah yes, the "format data" option

If that is indeed what he was doing, then that's an issue. I guess that's not how I read it, but I'll go back and read it again with that in mind

Edit
Looks like it didn't make it to the "destructive option"

But his use of wipe throughout still throws me off.

Only way to be for sure is to test it

Yeah, I sold an S3 on here two weeks ago and used that option to wipe it clean before I sent it off. It worked perfectly, nothing left behind. Which is why the whole mess confuses me, and the only common denominators are the Gnex and the Sourcery rom.

Is it safe to use Clockwork with 5.3?

Good morning, folks. If it's good.

I'm a little depressed today, with bittersweet emotion, as we must bid farewell to the Sourcery ROM project:

Team Sourcery Forum • View topic - The Sourcery Conclussion

JBSourcery 5.3 is the LAST Sourcery ROM, the pinnacle of their efforts. Let's enjoy the heck out of it.

@HALON: I can't imagine why you couldn't use Clockwork to flash 5.3. In fact, it looks like Team Sourcery is advising against TWRP.

Quick question. My brother has a galaxy nexus, Verizon, and looking for an extended battery with a tough case (like a kraken) or should he just have multiple batteries for backup?

Hey TJ,

I have the single extended battery in the phone, and maybe you could suggest to him one of these as backup:

Amazon.com: New Trent: iCarrier IMP120D - (12000mAh) Heavy Duty 2A/1A Dual USB Ports External Battery Pack for the Apple: iPad mini, the new iPad 4 / 3 / 2, iPhone 5 / 4S / 4 /3GS, iPod Touch all gen; Samsung: Galaxy Note, S4 / S3 / S2, Nexus ; HTC:

Now he may not NEED 12,000 mAH ( ) but I have a New Trent 5000 mAH extender and it works great.

Yeah, he works in the field so that isn't going to work well for him. That's why he was looking for a rugged case to accommodate an extended battery

Anyone hear any rumblings of Straight Talk launching a "CDMA BYOP" - Bring your own Verizon phone - option?

From what I'm reading it was to happen back in March?

Upon further reading they had it back in April for a short period of time and the stopped it with no answer of if it will be back. And it was for non SIM card Verizon phones. That pretty much means phones no Geek would want.

So I updated to JBS 5.3 and all text messages in SMS are white and it won't let me change the color. Barely readable.

Hey y'all. Sorry about the last release of Sourcery. Never took the chance to try it. Maybe they make a comeback when KLP is released? Ya never know!

Hey Jmar!

I have restored Ginny with 5.3 on it, I must say this Black Magic thing is pretty amazing: go from stock Gapps to inverted Gapps with the flick of a switch! So keep it turned ON and the MMS text won't be white on white.

All is good so far...

It's nice brother. And if you live in an LTE area (T-Mobile), there's a nice hack that I use to get it!

I mentioned it a few days ago, but here is a Yahoo story on the guy that is walking across the US. He is a really nice guy and I'm glad I met him. He stayed a week here in Altoona so his girlfriend could come visit. We hung out at a sports bar a few nights and today I took them to the train station so that she could head back home. He should be checking out of his hotel right about now and starting the walk again. Somewhere around 3,000 more miles to walk.

His first interview was here in Altoona then someone from Yahoo found out. I even think some news station in Utah might have done one also? It might become bigger than he anticipated?!

If you Twitter, follow @McHrebin

With everything wrong in the world it is nice to have a feel good story. I mentioned to him before I dropped him off it seems kinda fitting that he's a Veteran and he's starting the walk again on Memorial Day. He laughed and said yeah it is.

The unexpected people you briefly meet in life...

Question for those of you who have installed Sourcery 5.3 and BlackMajik Gapps. Is there a way to get GTalk back? It installed Hangouts, but I haven't moved to it, because of the issues with contacts in Hangouts. Is there a way I can go back?

I did use TiBU to b/u GTalk before updating, for fear that I would get Hangouts. Can I just re-install? Or am I going to BORK things all up?

Can't help you there. I don't use GTalk so someone else will have to chime in.

Today was a very good Memorial Day. Our annual ceremony on the Courthouse Square was attended by over 200 people in the sweltering sun- standing room only! My speech was well-received (as were the others), there were bagpipes and white doves released. Well worth the sunburn I got.

I hope you each took at least a moment out of your holiday to recognize and remember who paid the price for your freedom to spend the day as you like.

Have you tried the new Maps on your chromebook? I've yet to activate it.

P.S. Good morning early bird. It's 1am here. Up early for work bread?

Yep, work starts at 5:30am.
Haven't tried it on the Chromebook, but I'm guessing it'd stumble even more than it does on my laptop. I'll give it a shot later today.

Morning all! Is so nice that it's already Tuesday

We had a busy weekend, but lots of fun, day trip to Atlanta on Saturday for the Atlanta zoo and the World of Coke, Sunday my wife was gone all day so I had the kids, we played and cleaned up the playroom. Then yesterday went to the pool, then saw epic with the kids, and then grilled out.

Had a little scare, one of the reasons my wife was gone Sunday was her cousin graduated high school. As the only two children of that generation on that side, they are very close. Well got a call yesterday, she was on her way to Key West with some friends when they had a blowout on the interstate, the driver (mom of one of the friends) lost control and the truck flipped 4 times. Thankfully no serious injuries, although she got the worst of it, with cuts on her arms, legs, feet, and face/head from flying glass, including one on her head that needed quite a few stitches.

Good morning everyone - not many pages to catch up on it seems, but I will do so when I am caught up on my email from the past week.

Just wanted to drop in and say hi - Disney was an absolute blast. I made a consolidated picture of all my favorite pictures from the trip. I will check back in later.

Hope everyone is doing well.
