Why do they have to make their phones look so MEAN? I want a nice phone with clean lines and they give me some military-looking thing. I was military, I did military stuff, I don't want military looking stuff anymore

I'm not sure what I'll end up with... but this is the year. Come on, Verizon Nexus 5
I thought the leaked photo on Engadget just looked like an oversized Razr M.
Not bad, but still nothing all that enticing. At least Moto seems to embrace on screen nav buttons.

That evaleaks picture looks like capacitive buttons, non software buttons

It's unusual that they would go back to capacitive buttons considering that the Razr M and Razr HD had software buttons.

The picture does look slightly shopped though. Not convinced it's real yet.

Yeah, the fact that Motorola started using software buttons last product cycle, and that Google is in complete control makes me skeptical that they'd willing choose to use capacitive buttons.

I like capacitive buttons so no screen space is wasted.

That is true, but capacitive buttons mean you need more bezel to make space for them. Plus you can make software buttons disappear to use that screen space if running the right custom rom. But that is the beauty of choice, we can both get what we prefer.

UFC is the new boxing. Anderson Silva didn't even wanna fight. He knew when he stepped into the ring it was going to be his last. I guess 38 is a good time to leave the sport and give it to an upcoming superstar.

Some friends and I were discussing this very thing. One friend thinks Dana and company were in on it, I think it's just Anderson. The first shot that clipped him wasn't even that hard, the first hard shot came when he was on the ground.

Thanks and happy end to the 4th of July weekend - let's wrap it up safely and with rare good grace

Not much to do here with the rain STILL falling. We have thus far received over 7" in 4 days. I had to grill in a sprinkling rain yesterday, simply because the steaks wouldn't keep any longer. I know our lakes are low, and the reservoir is getting down to bothersome levels... but come on! Just a wee lil' bit of sunshine in there somewhere would be kinda nice

I don't know how many of you have actually gone to one of these MMA events, whether it be UFC, Strikeforce, etc. But since the sport is still outlawed here in NYS, I can't go anytime soon unless I want to drive 4+ hours. I find it weird that NY is the only state in the country that actually has a law forbidding it.

I posted this over in the Moto X thread(for the Ultra though)... Found something new about the battery. They used two...SNN5924A 2130mAh and SNN5925A 3500mAh. The mAh numbers were right in the report. So I'm guessing Ultra and Ultra Maxx?

Those numbers are from the FCC report.

3500MaH is a nice sized battery, and a display like that will need every bit of it! I can't imagine NOT having a Maxx if the two are remotely similar. I like bigger phones anyway

I just think he's already accomplished what he wanted. Its time for him to move on and let the sport go. Anderson Silva didn't show up last night. He looked out of shape and bored. He needs a new hobby. Maybe a trainer or even commentator.

Good morning everyone - "happy" Monday.

It is unbearable in the office, seems like the A/C is not on or at least not on high enough. I'd rather be sitting at home wasting my own money on electricity than be here right now.

Yeah we also had rain 8 days straight. Yesterday was the first day without rain, and of course what do I see on last night's news? Tropical Storm Chantal predicted to be off the FL/Ga coast by the weekend. Grr.

Staples has cut the price of the N7 to $199 and $179. Nothing huge but still cheaper than before.

Ha! She says, "Why do I get the hand me down phone?"
Been reading some comparison reviews this morning and, really, it's not a huge upgrade. She just has some problems with her Bionic (the camera especially), so hopefully she'll be in better shape with the Gnex. Will have to get her a new micro SIM since the Bionic uses a regular size one.
My contract is up in December and we'll reevaluate upgrades at the point, but like Jhawk said, looking around Swappa, Craigslist, and Ebay, this was a pretty good deal.

The only area you'll really notice an upgrade is in battery life. That S4 processor in it really does give you 3.5-4 hours of screen time with the same size battery as the oem extended gnex. You got it cheaper than when I sold one on here a couple months ago for 300.

As for your contract, you should really give T-Mobile a look since they do already have LTE in D.C. and by that point the Nexus 5 should be out; as long as there aren't supply constraints like there were with the Nexus 4 I know I'll be trying to upgrade to it as well if it has more official LTE capability.

Yeah, It seems that they're really only for medium & large city residents. Getting even 15 miles away from downtown areas and it degrades pretty quickly. But in those area where it's good it's phenominal. They really have picked up their service along the main interstates though which makes traveling with them less of a headache.

That's my problem. I'm sure T-Mo would be just fine in DC where we spend the majority of our time. But, the second we leave, how would it be?

Does anyone here watch Big Brother (the TV show)?

I know its horribly reality TV, but its the only one I still watch consistently and is still my favorite.

Yeah, I helped my situtation out by porting my Verizon number to Google Voice. I never gave anyone my new T-Mobile number. So when I'm in a good service area, I use Groove Forwarder to foward calls to my mobile number. If I'm in a bad service area but with WiFi, I use it to send them to Gmail which allows me to receive them with GrooveIP and use that VoIP client to take my calls. Texts come through either way as long as I have an internet signal, even if it's EDGE. It's not perfect, but I feel it's satisfactory considering I'm saving $110 dollars a month.

If we ever do decide to swap over to Tmo, that sounds like a great method.
(and I'm sure I'll hit you up for help setting it up )

Ugh, I have an unlimited wash pass to a local car wash that has been down for a week and a half due to a lightning strike. My car is filthy! #firstworldproblems

Good news for the day, teeth cleaned and no cavities. On the downside the wife ran over a machine bolt and needs four new tires.

It's not one of those track car washes right?

My car will never, EVER go through one of those.

Motorola Droid Ultra

Where is the speaker? Never mind. I see three little holes at the bottom. I hope those 3 holes release BIG sound.

the camera is said to be a so-called 10-megapixel RGBC model, which will apparently contain an extra sensor (the “C”) that helps establish white balance and exposure. The end result is faster captures and, more importantly, better-looking shots in more diverse environments.

Looks like a possible speaker grill surrounding the camera if you look closely.

I really hope that's not the phone...if so Motorola hasn't changed a bit. Pretty good hardware packed in a terrible looking phone with no innovation whatsoever..other than Kevlar backing! OMG!

Key features I want in my next phone:
-1080p (would settle for 720p) screen
-Good low light performing camera (megapixels are over-rated...just a marketing ploy for the most part)
-Front facing speakers
-High capacity battery

The HTC One comes the closest at this point. Battery capacity falls short of my expectation.

I've said I would never get another HTC phone, but if they had a removable battery I would get the HTC One.

I forgot that requirement...I would accept the HTC One battery as is if it were removable. Otherwise I want a massive battery if not removable.

Ugh - mom is up for a new phone and I just don't know which way to steer her. For ease of use I'd put her on an iPhone (yeah, yeah, I know but believe me, it would simplify things I think), but she is used to Android so it's not like learning a brand new thing. I want her to look at the Note 2 since she has issues with the screens on phones not responding to her touch so the S-pen would be a huge asset. I'm just worried about the size of the phone compared to her Incredible2. I think next Monday may have to be 'phone outing day'.

Geek - I was thrilled to hear you're having 2 boys! About spit my water across the keyboard at Weston & Easton though.

I had an amazing weekend with a friend and his kids. We went to Ocean City, NJ yesterday and spent the morning on the beach (and have the sunburn to prove it) and the afternoon on the boardwalk. I loved it. Our daughters got along really well all weekend.

Hope everyone is having a good day!

Thanks BB Glad you, and others, got a good chuckle out of the Weston/Easton thing.

Sounds like you had a fun weekend!

You know, I thought having only 16GB and a locked up battery would be issues for me on my N4, but this thing lasts all day with 5 hours or more of SOT.

That said, I, too, am unimpressed by these new Moto phones. Even the current vaporware that is the X seems compromised.

Demands for my next phone are...

1080p IPS panel
Quad-core processor (currently have that and it's all I need)
2GB RAM (Got that, too, but I'd take moar)
16GB ROM (Again got that, too, but I'd take moar)
Good low light camera
And of course, it must be a Nexus
