The Ultra Maxx will have a 3500 mah battery. That thing will last a few minutes.

We dropped the delivery service and are on streaming only at this point. But, seeing as we don't have cable, we use the hell out of it.

Vaporware is always impressive. Love that March 2014 delivery, maybe.

Very lofty goals. But it will be a beast if it comes to fruition. Probably looking at a 2GHz quad core with 4gb of RAM, 128GB of storage on-board, and a 720p display. Be interesting to see what kind of battery they can squeeze in there.

New Droid phones

"Motorola X8 mobile computing system" — a new 8-core chip with 2 application processor cores, 4 graphics cores, a contextual computing core, and a natural language processing core.

The Maxx is listed as lasting 48 hours.

10 megapixel camera on the Ultra, 1080p video with a f2.4 lens.

Mini is 99, Ultra 199, Maxx 299 pre order now at doriddoes dot com and available August 20th

Anyone who gets the device from now until September 30th gets gets six months of free Google Music All Access. Not bad.

That was less than 10 minutes!

If only it wasn't a Verizon Droid. Great hardware (except for the subpar camera).

"DROID Zap, a feature to share photos to anyone with a DROID within 300 feet "

For the life of me I cannot figure out why Google doesn't intervene and give these guys a standard of sharing photos. Vanilla Android uses NFC to initiate a bluetooth transfer, Touchwiz uses NFC to initiate Wifi Direct, and now Droid ZAP apparently uses an entirely different method only available between Droid devices.

Stop the madness and use ONE system! I prefer the Touchwiz version...NFC to initiate wifi-direct. That way there's no inadvertent sending to another device in the room, you touch backs of phones and boom, photo/video sent.

That can work a couple ways. I would also be happy with ONE mobile payment system, as my phone has access to ZERO currently. Thanks VZW.

So don't know if this was a fluke or not, but I just received the email from VZW announcing the new Droid phones, and even though I have my phone set to silent, I got the loud "Drrroooiiid" notification sound on my phone. Pretty shady if they can override my device settings like that for promotional purposes.

Default I am such a sucker for these stories :-)

Back in September of 2005, on the first day of school, Martha Cothren, a Military History teacher at Robinson High School in Little Rock, did something not to be forgotten. On the first day of school, with the permission of the school superintendent, the principal and the building supervisor, she removed all of the desks out of her classroom.
When the first period kids entered the room they discovered that there were no desks.

'Ms. Cothren, where are our desks?'

She replied, 'You can't have a desk until you tell me how you earn the right to sit at a desk.'

They thought, 'Well, maybe it's our grades.'

'No,' she said.

'Maybe it's our behavior.'

She told them, 'No, it's not even your behavior.'

And so, they came and went, the first period, second period, third period. Still no desks in the classroom.

Kids called their parents to tell them what was happening and by early afternoon television news crews had started gathering at the school to report about this crazy teacher who had taken all the desks out of her room.

The final period of the day came and as the puzzled students found seats on the floor of the deskless classroom, Martha Cothren said, 'Throughout the day no one has been able to tell me just what he or she has done to earn the right to sit at the desks that are ordinarily found in this classroom. Now I am going to tell you.'

At this point, Martha Cothren went over to the door of her classroom and opened it.

Twenty-seven (27) U.S. Veterans, all in uniform, walked into that classroom, each one carrying a school desk. The Vets began placing the school desks in rows, and then they would walk over and stand alongside the wall. By the time the last soldier had set the final desk in place those kids started to understand, perhaps for the first time in their lives, just how the right to sit at those desks had been earned.

Martha said, 'You didn't earn the right to sit at these desks. These heroes did it for you. They placed the desks here for you. They went halfway around the world, giving up their education and interrupting their careers and families so you could have the freedom you have.

Now, it's up to you to sit in them. It is your responsibility to learn, to be good students, to be good citizens. They paid the price so that you could have the freedom to get an education. don't ever forget it.'

Ms. Cothren is the daughter of a WW II POW. In 2006, The Veterans of Foreign Wars named her 'Teacher of the Year.'

Well, that sucks bad eggs. With the Nexus 5 and G2 out of the mix, my choices are either a New Droid or a Moto X and I may as well pounce on the Moto, although I see little hardware improvement over my 1-1/2 year old Galaxy Nexus. The software had better blow me away, and no doubt development will be strong for it. And the price is right!

Chromecast? You've got my attention. Will this finally solve GoogleTV?

Since I have smart TV and blu-ray players on both TVs, I really have no use for it, but I really think my wife could use it in the classroom at school.

It seems the blogosphere and play are at odds as play lists it as shipping in 1-2 days.

They said it was coming to Amazon, so I'm waiting to see if it's prime eligible so that I get free shipping.

There sort of is. My Logitech Revue has an app for it, but it's a system app. Plus the device is next to impossible to root without hardware modification so I can't yank it from the root directories. Is there one for Kindle fire devices?

If not, with the release of the sdk, maybe amazon will make an app to support it that would be available to all?

I haven't looked on a long time but the last I did people were trying to get the app to work with not much luck. I'll have to check if there was any progress tonight after work.

My Sony NSZ-GS7 Google TV Player has Amazon Instant Video and it FINALLY registered my Prime account! Free movies for the Darling Bride

So you might want to look into it. Costlier than Chromecast (which looks like a Google TV replacement or something) but I have no issues with it...

EDIT: Got my Leap Motion Controller today! And MAN is this thing sensitive! It's gonna take a considerable amount of time for me to get the hang of this, but it's great technology for what it does

Just ordered my Chromecast from Amazon. It is indeed prime eligible, so I got free 2 day shipping.
