And I just just picked up a note 3 on vzw today.
Wish I could turn off the home button so I can carry it in my pocket. Lol.
Hope everyone is doing well! Have a great weekend all.

Somehow I feel like there's a setting to do this. I recall I was able to disable powering on with my S3. Maybe it required root? Check through the loads of settings and you might find it.

I did a search with S-finder and manually, and can't find any setting that allows a Note 3 to disable the home button. That said, I have Apex Launcher Pro that allows me to define the use of the home button, including "Do Nothing". You might experiment with that and see if it's something that works for you

It really is a great device and I am certainly excited about my phone again...and it is big. But man..The clarity the battery life and the speed. Holy smokes!
Nexy has been relegated to a digital photo frame for now. Hope everyone's weekend is going smoothly. Enjoy your day!

Did you see the miracle Hail Mary pass that won Auburn the game against Georgia? WOW!

On a more personally exciting note (no pun intended), my wireless charging S-View cover for the Note 3 is on its way to me after a 2-month back-order! Now I have a standard Note 3 S-View cover to sell...

I LOVE wirelessly charging this phone (try it: you'll never go back to wires), and I love the S-View cover. But I can't use both at the same time. Now it's the best of both worlds!

Yeah I was watching it live. Crazy, but I suppose justice was done, because I don't think Aaron Murray made it in the endzone on 4th and goal to score the go ahead touchdown. But yeah, definitely one of the most amazing finishes to a game that I can remember.

Good morning everyone! Hope you all had a great weekend. We were at an anniversary party last night for a couple who has been married 63 years, and they still pick on each other. Wow.

Watched the season 3 finale of Breaking Bad last night as well. (very mild spoiler):

AMAZING SHOW!!

I don't know how I missed this for 5 years, but I'm kind of glad I did; I can't imagine waiting 6 months to see what happens next. Tonight, Season 4 begins.

(Don't spill anything to me if you've watched it, please.)

But awesome show.

I loved my Note 3, Ryan. When I switched to T-Mobile last week, I had the full intention of sticking with it on the GSM version. But they loaned me a 5-inch phone while I waited for the Note 3 to be shipped to the store, and I realized how much I prefer a slightly smaller screen. Plus I never used the S-Pen on the phone, really (I use it on the Note 10.1 all the time). So I decided to go with the G2. I actually prefer the G2's screen (edge to edge, practically), the battery life is about the same, and there is almost a "silky" feel to the screen, I have no idea why.

Enjoy your Note. It's a great phone.

I thought about it. But to me, they both are very similar phones (hardware-wise), except that the G2 has that edge-to-edge, almost no bezel look that the Nexus just doesn't have.

And so the main difference is software, and I just am not really feeling the kitkat flavor. I'm kind of turned off by "stock" android at the moment, and I'm a fan of the LG UI.

Fair enough, I have heard lots of people liking the LG skin on the g2. They have come a long way in 3 years.

Han, I missed Breaking Bad when it was on TV too. I started watching it a few months ago on Netflix and would get so caught up watching it. I would start watching an episode about 9PM and was still going at midnight because I couldn't turn it off. I watched through the midpoint of season 5 (all that is on Netflix) in less than a month.

Yeah, it's great! I wasn't feeling the whole "humorous" vibe of the first season or two. It's like it couldn't decide whether it wanted to be a quirky sitcom or a show along the lines of "The Shield" (one of the best 3 shows in the history of TV, IMO). I'm glad they decided to go with the latter. There is still some dark humor in it, but not so much like it was in the beginning.

The guy that plays Jesse is a great actor. I was kind of annoyed by him at first, but he really grew into the role.

Yeah, the show and cast really hit its stride late season 2 and into season 3. Really good stuff.

If that is one of those penny auctions, make sure you understand the fine print. You are only bidding a penny at a time, but each bid cost you $0.10 and you must pay that whether you win the auction or not.

That's still a really quick turn around. Less than a month . I knew the Moto X would be the first non-Nexus though once we got the T-Mobile Moto X 4.4 leak.

Frustrating that I've heard nothing about an AT&T 4.4 leak or soak test.

Nothing yet Kaat Should know something tomorrow. Think the doc is going to schedule a time to induce.

Wife is due for an upgrade and the S3 is having some issues. She really likes the Moto X. I'll work on her S3 this weekend, likely flashing a TW ROM before we go for a new phone.

And you realize there is no backup for your work.

And that the lousy Acer OS just randomly decided to wipe the boot sector of your hard drive.

Honestly, I'm not sure how it affects a Shared plan (which we're on), if the lady goes with a subsidized price on the phone. I got mine through the device payment plan so it's not subsidized, but I pay for it over a years' time.
She just wants the fancy wood grain ones, but no idea if/when it'll hit Verizon.

Yeah, I think it is zero effect on shared plan. I'm still protecting two unlimited, which is mostly why my wife is sporting a used S3 and I'm still using the GNex.

Laptop boots up fine. Can still log in with finger print scanner. My desktop loads up. But as soon as I try anything...nothing. I can click on any program in my task bar but nothing comes up. Click on Chrome 3 times but nothing there. Anything I click on, Task Manager says is running.

Yep, it was a hard price to swallow, but I just wasn't ready to lose unlimited.
I imagine both of you have upgrades available? Thinking of any plans before the end of the year?

Of my three lines, one that was already on a tiered plan was upgraded to a Note 2 (goofy looking phone in my opinion). I got Pam an S3 used for a good price, so she is still unlimited and has an upgrade available. I'm biding my time for a phone either used or full retail. I'd like the Moto X but its a bit much for me. I spent some extra goof-off cash on a new N7, but that was my own fault for bashing my original. I honestly may wait for the Moto G to make it to VZW and further bide my time.

Sounds like you can't even get to a restore point, which would be my first resort.

Boot to safe mode?

Well, when the POS Acer drive committed seppuku, this is how I fixed it. I got in the car, went to Best Buy and bought an HP.

At least yours boots, so maybe you can connect to a peripheral and save your data?

I have an HP. I like it. Little over 4 years now.

I said some magic words and I'm running malearebytes right now. Then I'll see if anything will run.

Had malwarebytes run and MSE. As soon I try Chrome or IE...nothing.

Sorry to hear about your computer troubles halon. I wish I could help, but my knowledge is clearly more basic than yours.

So did everyone see Verizon's COO is announcing "the reinvention of the wireless customer experience" tomorrow at 2pm EST. Anyone want to take a guess at what that means? Even less value in a plan?

So a bit of a scare tonight, got home to see the two boys across the street driving their golf cart rather stupidly, turning sharply to get on two wheels. I just got finished telling my son he was to never ride on the cart with them, and was about to walk in the house, when I heard a crash, followed by one of the boys screaming. I sprinted over there and found the cart on its side with the younger boy underneath it. He was the one screaming about his leg. I lifted up the cart and his brother picked him up and we took him inside their house. His mom and her boyfriend were in there, and thankfully it seemed both boys were alright. But the golf cart was mangled, the whole roof support structure turned into a pretzel, and the roof and windshield were broken. It's a miracle those boys weren't hurt.
