Wow, gotta love that, Motorola just announced they will honor warranties of Dev devices even if they have unlocked bootloaders.

Flashing the first known KK ROM for my G2!
Looks to be not without bugs, but whatever. I'll try it.

You'll like it. It's pretty cool.

I keep tapping my Nexus 5 waiting for the screen to come on. That was a nice feature.

Haha. I imagine it won't be working with this ROM at all (perhaps tap on but not off like current AOSP ROMs). I've messed with KK a little on my Gnex and like it quite a bit.
Just need to be sure I can flash the LG camera apk since the AOSP one is utter garbage.

Has the dev community been embracing the N5 like they did the GNex when it first came on the scene?

Knock On will work since its built into the Kernel - Knock Off you can get working with Nova and an app.

Yeah, still digging through the XDA thread (dang those things move fast!). Care to elaborate how to do it with Nova? Honestly want to give GEL a shot and hold off on Nova for a bit.
Whelp, flash is over and it managed to reboot. Time to set this puppy up!

Oh yeah. There are a ton of roms, kernels, etc. for it already. I'm like a kid in a candy store. I've flashed about 5 so far, and I'm really happy with the Hammerhead Cataclysm. Stock KitKat with a few tweaks, very fast.

I wish the Nexus camera was a little better, but it's passable. I really liked the LG camera with all of its modes.

Knock on will work no matter what. Knock off will work with Nova (see below), or by simply tapping on the status bar no matter what rom you're on.

Download an app called Screen Off. You will have to activate it within the app itself, and then with Nova (you need Prime), go to gestures and settings, pick double tap, assign it to an app, pick Screen Off, and you're good to go. Now whenever you double tap on homescreen, it will turn off.

With Gummy's 4.4 ROM you can assign another nav key to turn the screen off.
So I can run GEL and still get it all. Sideloaded the LG camera apk and assigned that to the quick launch in the lock screen. Pretty satisfied thus far.

Well this is interesting:
LG to focus on TV and move away from smartphones: report - Smartphones & PDA Phones
Wonder what that means as a G2 owner? Development is fine so I'm not concerned about updates. Think no more LG Nexus devices?

I believe I used this one and assigned the LockerActivity to the Double Tap gesture in Nova: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=turn.off.the.lights&hl=en

Digging the GEL so far, but I may move back to Nova since I love gestures so much. Slide to Now is okay, but it's easily accessible from the slide up gesture. More importantly, I just want to get rid of these giant icons!

(one thing I'm noticing though is considerable battery drain. Not sure if it's because I'm messing with the phone more or if it's actually happening. Google Play Services is taking up the bulk of battery usage. Is this normal?)

Try it with location services off.

Also there are some cool extended nav bar apps if your rom doesn't do it all. No promises that they'll work with the latest.

Need to have GPS turned on (never turn it off).
How does it mesh with Play?

Works fine for me and I never turn off GPS.

How often you actually need location services vs apps and services just banging away at it are two different things.

If that doesn't work, clear data in play services.

Looks like I can't do anything in regards to cleaning data/cache for Google Play Services. Not sure why it's consuming so much battery, but I'm getting concerned now.

Still trying to figure it out. If I disable Location Services, I can't use my GPS for anything, no? That's not going to roll with me.

Incorrect compadre.

I keep location services off and get my Google Weather updates via GPS and navigation works fine as well.

Still don't understand. If I turn it completely off, Maps doesn't work. Keeps telling me to turn it on.

Edit: Looks like any other app that needs GPS prompts me to turn it on. Don't see a way I can isolate usage of GPS per app.

I'm running the latest Maps and I've been pulling this stunt for a year and a half.

I occasionally zero in GPS using GPS Status and Toolbox - reset data and download aGPS data. Something you want to do from time to time anyway.

After doing that, pull up Maps, refuse the option to get high accuracy via wifi and location services.

Pull up the satellite layer.

See if it doesn't work.

If it doesn't, they broke something.

If you're reliant on Google Now, forget it.

You need location services for that.

Just got back from my meth dealer, Best Buy.

I couldn't get over the lag on Note 10.1.

Good bye, sweet sweet Pen.

Hello, Retina Mini. Now go hide in the drawer. I will call upon you only when needed.

I honestly thought they would turn me away since I'm technically banned from returning. But my receipt from Note 10.1 says that all returns since Nov. 3 are eligible for holiday extended returns.

They went ahead and did it.

I saw they're hitting the T-Mobile and AT&T Moto X now also... Gee, sure do feel special with my NEXUS device... But I'm happy they are finally rolling it out.

And us owners of RAZR HD's are getting Kit Kat too. Devices are a year old and we're getting some Moogle Love.

I never thought I would see the day a Moto had an OTA before a Nexus. Never. Never. What, yes, I fed the pink horses. Yes, yes, I put the nets up so the flying pigs wouldn't steal the feed. Shhh..., people will think I'm wierd if I keep talking to you.

Well, there's still hope for you even if you did drink the Kool Aid, since we were only TOLD that we're getting KitKat. It hasn't arrived just yet Who knows, it could arrive around the time Star Wars Episode VII comes out.

Yeah I got it last night for both my 2012 and 2013. I'm glad I have a Nexus 7, so I still get some Nexus love. I have to wait till Q1 for my phone to get it. :P

Bought a low-speed buffer off Craigslist for our hardwood floors. Some of the best money we've ever spent: this place has a mirror finish to it!

The technologically-impaired but still beautiful and charming Darling Bride gets her next Moto X Monday! Hopefully THIS one will work

I'm tired, folks. Heavy cleaning, steam-mopping and buffing will take it out of an old Chief! I was going to cook something easy for dinner... I found something even easier. Pizza delivery

EDIT: Normally I would post a Craigslist ad like this title in Member Found Deals, but it's just too good a deal - I mean, the entire Verizon 4G LTE network for only $120!

"For Sale: Verizon 4G LTE"

The listing was actually for an LG Spectrum. Good luck selling a 2-year old phone for that much...
