Yep. I know what a cigar is I've seen people inhale those.

I did once by accident. I ended up on the ground for around 5 minutes and thought I was high.

I actually prefer something a little stronger. In this case Courvoisier V.S.O.P.

To those who don't smoke, don't get started. There are better ways to spend your money that won't give you brown teeth and make you smell funny ... like on Android devices!

Android put the "vice" in device.

... yeah, that should be the tagline.

I love having a cigar every now and then for celebratory occasions. The last one I had was back in January. I'll need to buy one come the end of august after all my prelims are finished.

It is just burning away money though

I love me a good cigar, but I can't have them anymore. Once I quit smoking I realized I can't even have a cigar without risking starting smoking again. Yeah, I was one of those guys that would inhale a Havana.

I used to think that way, pup. I was a two pack a day smoker of Winston 100's. When I quit in the 80's I was terrified I'd never be able to do it again if I ever took it up a second time. I flirted with it during some stress a few years later but i didn't really enjoy/crave/need it like i did and I just stopped. I had cigars now and then, but didn't really become an aficionado until much later. I have maybe three or four a week in the summer. In the winter I'm lucky if I get two a month. During the winter, I don't really crave them, though ... not like a cigarette addiction anyway.

Don't let me talk you into it, though. For the really good ones, you have to spend $10+/smoke.

Don't smoke cigs anymore but it was the only way I knew how to smoke and the couple of times I would try cigars, I never "got" it. Inhaled each time.
I've quite smoking a few times with no problems as it was never much to begin with. Can't say I'll ever pick up that habit again -> way too expensive.

Going to Verizon store today to see if they have any new G2s on hand. My digitizer has been messed up for 3 or 4 months. I would get the G3 but then I'd also have to buy a computer just root it.

Steven, I hope for your sake it doesn't have the botched screen issue like the G2 has. Still deciding if I want to try and get a warranty claim on mine and only have a couple months left until it's out of warranty. Problem is, unless they can swap it on the spot, I'm kind of SOL since both the S3 and Gnex are close to being paperweights (only backups I have).

It is my understanding that the current policy is is that if your phone is under 1 year old they will swap it out new song. It is my understanding that you to be to do it at the store or they will send you a phone then you return the bad one postage paid.

If that's true then my 2 stores have no idea what they are doing.

Yeah yeah. I don't know why I act like I'm surprised with anything they do?

Looks like it's finally time to just give up on unlimited data.
Verizon will soon throttle LTE data: here's what you need to know | The Verge
May see if a tiered plan is cheaper cause between the two of us, we may use 3Gb of data a month max.

I've alread dealt with this in another thread. People need to realize it isn't throttling like other carriers. It has specific triggers that are based on real world criteria instead of arbitrary use x you get slowed to z. From the article:

Quote:
Again, this policy only applies in areas where the network is seeing heavy demand. You might be throttled in one town and experience regular, fast speeds in the next. See? We told you it wasn't straightforward.
So you need to be in the top 5% (4.7GB currently) and connected to a tower that is busy.

Here is Verizon's take on it, also from your article.
Quote:
"The vast majority of data customers will not see any impact from Verizon Wireless’ Network Optimization policy, and will be able to browse the Internet, stream music and videos, upload pictures and send emails as they always have, " the carrier said today.
I've seen elsewhere that even when you get "throttled" your speed is only reduced enough to enable all users of the tower to get reasonable data speeds. It may happen for 2 hours during rush hour when a bunch of people are streaming tv, news, or music (just like highways during rush hour) or during specific events like concerts or sporting events. I just don't see this being news.

It could end up being much to do about nothing, or it could be very real. In a lot of areas, Verizon towers are always extremely congested and this might trigger this as if it is a billing cycle throttle. Only time will tell.

No more DPP. Now throttling unlimited in 4G. Next step is just taking it away from people because...."there are not enough people with the unlimited data plan to justify keeping it part of the company plans."

Pup, the only qualifiers we're under is unlimited data and we live in a modest size city (no idea how clogged it is here). But, I think it's just another step and if we could save some money by going with a 4Gb plan, we may consider it.

I get the impression that perhaps there is too much abuse of it. Different mindset, I guess.

Not too much. Verizon has said it's only a small amount of folks who are going through loads of data since they're often replacing their home broadband with it through tethering. If they're not doing that, I've no idea how people can go 5Gb+ a month with just their phone. There's only so many videos you can stream, right?

So people who have unlimited can't use as much as they want?

Someone here managed to download 3tb worth of media. Needless to say he received a phone call from his carrier soon

Didn't realize Josh Topolsky has left The Verge. Bit of a bummer there. Unsurprisingly, Nilay Patel has taken his place.
