After seeing the new LG watch and that thing Samsung is offering I can say without a doubt I still want the Moto 360.

Moto 360 still seems like the best watch to get.

Oh of course, but I think the thing is, a) why is it so darn expensive?! and b) why only AT&T?
The tablets make sense in both a media consumption and purchasing device far more than a phone IMO.
Are the phones you mention that much cheaper than a top of the line smartphone?

My wife just scratched the screen on her Moto X pretty badly.
But, I doubt she'll get the new one if they don't do Moto Maker again (which sounds very iffy). She loves the wood back too much.

Wait.. Why would they not do Moto Maker? That's what makes the Moto X so good. Member that Moto Maker deal they did on black friday? People crashed Motorola's website.

The Aliyun OS phones, or Yun OS as it's sometimes known, are basic to mid-range dual-SIM phones, nothing special, one is branded as Philips however. It's the software though, Yun OS, which is a fork of Android developed by the Alibaba Group, and the phones are sold exclusively via the TaoBao and Tmall online shopping sites, both of which are owned by Alibaba. You can't sideload Android APKs into a Yun OS device, so effectively it's incompatible with it. And it is locked into just using Alibaba's online services, including AliCloud. Rather like the way that Amazon's Fire OS, is a fork of Android and is designed to make full and exclusive use of Amazon's online services.

YunOS (Chinese)

Apparently there are pirated Android apps being distributed in the Yun OS app store.
Aliyun App Store Confirmed To Be Distributing Pirated Android Apps, Many From Another Pirate Site
...but then this is China, so anything is possible.

"Yun" is Chinese Pinyin for "Cloud", in other words "Cloud OS".

EDIT:

Got me thinking, are Amazon trying to be like Apple with their Fire phone?
1) It's locked into their services.
2) It's quite expensive, over $600.
3) It's only available on one carrier, just like the iPhone was originally.

Previously Amazon's Kindle devices have always been quite reasonably priced IMO and easily available, including the Fire tablets. The Alibaba, Yun OS phones are very reasonably priced, they start at equivalent of $80, and most expensive is just under $200, and they're easily available. Which is what I think you want for a device intended to make it easier for your costumers to buy your merchandise and to consume your content. Get them in as many hands as possible.

Not gonna lie, that is one gorgeous phone. Apple is going to sell gobs and gobs of this thing, likely record breaking.

Yeah, I for one am terribly excited to see them get more profits so that they can increase their legal war chest and come and sue more Android makers for Apple patents on things that Apple didn't invent.

I also can't wait to see what new features that Apple invents for the first time ever that I'll have to ignore hearing about because I've been using them for at least two years.

A new iPhone?

Ugh. My friends are going nuts over the new iPhone 6. Wow, a phone that looks like a miniature iPad Mini. Fantastic.

In other news, I was just diagnosed with adult ADHD. That explains a lot! A doctor told my mom I had it when I was 10 or so, but my dad chalked it up to “immaturity” and “laziness” so I was never put on anything. Now I’m on Adderall and wow, is this what a normal adult feels like??!!

I guess that explains my rants and raves on the epic thread, lol.

I bet apple will announce the best and fastest iPhone to date. They will add a brand new feature never used before in any phone...NFC. And they will have invented the very first 4.7" and 5.5" phones.

Maybe they have porven the myth that increasing the size of the battery have a very close correlation to battery life, and as such, they have revolutionized the smart phone industry once again by increasing the size.

Don't forget that their screen coordinates are hard coded - the real dirty secret behind separate phone and tablet apps.

Unlike this 1080p thing I'm using that adopted its apps from a 720p predecessor that adopted the same apps from a qHD predecessor that...

Absolutely true because nowhere in my M8's name does it say the word "phone."

Does yours?

haha, the only reason they are successful is because they oversimplify the features for the sheep that use the product.

Everything has been done before, now they are taking from Android, and oversimplifying everything to reinvent it.

I bet the apple fanboys who said that anything over 5 inches is too much, they will turn and say that it's just perfect, and that Apple invented that. Same thing with NFC, if iPhone gets it, then they invented it and made it usable.

I wish all android phones had it. I would be paying for more things with my phone then.

When will we be able to have our state id and drivers licence in our phone?

No one really knows who or what is on these towers. Farmers lease land to some company to construct a tower. Said company builds the tower and then assigns the lease to another company, who furthur assigns it to another company. In most cases, the companies doing the leasing is an LLC named after the property address where the tower is (e.g. 1 Main Street LLC) and it's all washed through a myriad of shell companies.

At that point, you have third party companies that lease and sublet positions on these towers through similarly obfuscated companies to the actual carriers. In other cases, these leasing companies arrays are sitting along side arrays that are owned by the carriers.

Also, you have church steeples, silos, water tanks, and anything else tall that happens to be in the right place for cellular coverage where the owner is happy to take free cash from someone that wants to put antennas on it.

It's not as simple as having VZW's antenna painted bright red and sprint's painted bright yellow and the unpainted one being rogue.

Well maybe they should put rules in place foridentifying exactly who owns the tower. But from the sounds of it probably wouldn't help. Although if you take them down either the owners will finally show up and complain and if they don't then you know it's a scam.

Tower ownership isn't a problem. They are attached to the ground, and are therefor real property. All real property had a written, and recorded, chain of title through deeds and a registry that records all real property transactions. These vary from state to state, but more or less we inherited the British rule of law so that all interests in real property must be in writing and publicly recorded. The we know who "owns" the steal stick poking out of the ground. We often know who has signed a lease for it. In most cases, we are able to figure out who the 15th group is that sublets it, as they are pulling permits to add, replace, or update arrays on the tower. Who they are leasing space to on the tower is not real property, so it gets awful cloudy there. Plus, the people that understand and have a vested interest in tracking tower ownership, and maybe even personal property ownership for arrays on said tower, often don't have the alternative knowledge to understand cellular networks and how they assemble their coverage areas and use GIS and topography to maximize their coverage areas.

Quite simply it's too much disparate information across too many specifically focused bureaucracies in order for efficient recognition of who all the players are. I can easily see that the lack of a professional vested interest combined with limited understanding of personal risks fully enabling rogue arrays being deployed.

According to the largest Dutch tech forum Tweakersnet the Note 4 is going to cost 800 euros ($1050), starting next month. Samsung isn't offering the slick Edge to us Dutchies

Softcard is the best name they could come up with?!

Can't we just make Google Wallet the official payment system?

I would too: but Big Red owns the signal where I live. I can use AT&T... but I'd have to stand on the porch, phone in left hand, wad of aluminum foil in the right hand, and wave the roll toward the nearest tower just to make a call.

So VZ owns us right now.

My work tried giving me an AT&T phone. I got tired of walking around my yard waving my arms like I was singing "We are the world" just to keep a signal to talk.

I'm intrigued by the Note Edge.

Does anyone know if they will be available on Amazon? Was the Note 3 available there on Day 1?

I've got a crapload of credit for Amazon. I figure I'll get it there, and then sell my Note 3 afterwards.

Anyone know?

The Verge says the Moto 360 never lasted a day. I'm second guessing now

The new Moto X seems pretty sweet!

Yep, just finished David's review.
Oh well, I don't have the money for it at the moment, and for just about all intents and purposes my Pebble still does what I want a watch to do (and give me days of battery life).
Dat watch is beautiful though!

More vids!

I'll get it at best buy, or whoever has a longer return policy, and try it out.

Wow. From Harrisburg to Pittsburgh you can't walk into Best Buy to purchase the 360. All they said was select stores. Must be NYC, Chicago and L.A.? Express shipping will get it to you on Tuesday.

Well. So much for walking into a store today and buying the 360. I really don't understand Motorola's handling of this release?
