Thanks, I'll do that too.

Unfortunately I keep getting an error when I try to download the ROM. I get the message "Oops! Google Chrome could not find goo-inside.me."

I don't think that I'd be blocked just because I'm out of the US. I'm going to try from a different wifi location and see if that works any better.

I hope this doesn't cause itching and burning when posting the link from the app, but....

Here's my favorite YouTube video to show off the Gnex screen. Anyone else have a fave?

some update for you guys.

I am switching back from the extended battery to the stock one. although the extended doesn't add much bulk, but the bulk is enough that the cover I am using doesn't fit too well also the extended makes the phone a bit heavy. I am using the Shell/Holster Combo https://www.verizonwireless.com/b2c/store/accessory?action=accessoryDetails&archetypeId=1292 8&accessoryId=49886

which is really terrific, because it has a kickstand and allows the phone to stand in landscape or portrait mode.

So I decided to get a second standard battery, and the best option is to get the battery charger with battery and y cable.
https://www.verizonwireless.com/b2c/store/accessory?action=accessoryDetails&archetypeId=1292 2&accessoryId=49880

Here's an experience for you:
First I call 3 VZW stores near me looking for the charger/stand and they all say they don't have it in stock. Knowing these guys are either distracted, or simply unwilling, or unaware to search correctly for a product, I call 611 and have them search for availability near me. Two of the stores that I had call, had the charger in stock and the VZW phone rep, had the one at the nearest store keep one aside for me, which I picked up soon after.

I love that case with kickstand. But I love my tpu case as well. And they are sending me a new one next week to replace the original which has the 'ghost volume rocker' issue as they put it.

Welp, just got back from Verizon to spend the $50 living social deal that never got used when I bought my Nexus...He confirmed it never got used, so I got the spare battery and charger and extra screen protectors for $4! Pretty sweet deal. Now I have more battery power than I will every need (have the standard, an extended, now this with another standard).

Kind of sucks though, I asked him for a docking station so I can throw it on the dock while at my desk and use my bluetooth keyboard with it, but he showed me the inventory list and he said the Galaxy Nexus dock wasn't released yet .

using the SGN one forms an intimate relationship with the battery. boy does this phone love to suck up power when in use. it's not too bad when hibernating, but as soon as you start to use web, or other features, you can see the battery meter go down a percent per every few minutes.

It's sweet. From settings, in the ROM manager, you can set the LED color and how fast it blinks!

Flashing Franco's 7.1 kernel. It's supposed to be better with battery life.
Just flashed both and yes (other than the horrible bootanimation which I immediately changed) it looks pretty good.

Since it's a nightly I take it that it's not deodexed so I can't flash the "autobrightness" patch?

Default New Year's Eve

Everyone have big plans for New Year's Eve?

Thanks to the international dateline I get two of them this year. It's already Dec 31st here in Japan and since I'll be flying to Hawaii tonight I'll get a second chance to party tomorrow.

I'm looking forward to tomorrow because I'll be flying the plane tonight so I'll have to limit myself to just a few drinks.

Before anyone calls the FAA, I'm just kidding about tonight!!!

TBH, although I may be warmer, I'm sure you'll have a better time with friends and family than I will surrounded by strangers.

Maybe , but with strangers you don't have to worry about being judged for any behavior.

It is deodex but I wouldn't recommend flashing it on top of a modded rom

Agreed. Most, if not all, custom roms are deodexed, but I concur that it will probably either simply not work, or may cause stability problems if you use that patch on a rom that's not just a pure AOSP.

I just got back from a get-together with friends, and I was pleased to see that one of the gang also had a Galaxy Nexus. Naturally we had to try Android Beam, since neither one of us knows anybody else with an NFC-capable phone.

Kinda surprised to find that there actually aren't many actual uses of Android Beam implemented yet. She successfully sent me a map location using Google Maps, but that was it. No way we could find to share contacts or photos, at least not with the stock apps. I can only assume that as more people get NFC capability, app developers will start using it.

Another one of the group was trying to flash an ICS ROM on his Captivate. (It was that kind of party.) Unfortunately it didn't go well, and now his phone is bricked. Won't even boot into recovery. That was painful to see... hopefully he'll find a solution!

I just tried Netflix on my Nexus and it is great in HD.

And using Google Wallet is priceless to see the expressions on peoples faces.

My boss got mad when I tried to use Wallet at a Mickey D's at lunch. Apparently their machine was broken so it would never receive the payment. He was behind me in line and all the cashiers had stopped taking orders to watch me try to buy a cheeseburger with my phone.

He even blasted me on twitter for it. The old dude is learning.

So after days of fighting what I'm pretty sure is stock ICS's terrible mis-management of battery stats (could NOT for the life of me get the phone to charge to a true 100%) I broke down and unlocked and rooted. Here goes hours and hours of my life lol.

I can't tell what the other is. I thought maybe a rottie but I can't tell. Regardless, they are definitely 4 powerful dogs and as much as I love the idea I know I couldn't do it on my own. I'd like to go visit them though!

Unfortunately he's on an AT&T family plan, so switching to Verizon isn't financially feasible. I did tell him that I've heard good things about the Galaxy S 2, though.

I don't think he's given up on his Captivate yet, though. He's bricked it before (though not quite this badly) and brought it back.

OK, I've been going 22 hours with a 20% charge remaining. And I was on 4G for a big chunk of yesterday. I am officially going to stop worrying about battery life.

Default I really need some advice

I've searched other threads and just haven't found the info I need. Some people are returning their phones and others don't think it is a big deal...

First of all, I love my GN! I can deal with the issues of button placement, battery drain, heat, speaker volume... Those issues will get resolved with updates or I'll get used to them.

The issue that has kept coming up over the past two weeks is call clarity. I know lots of people don't even use the phone part of a smartphone. I do. I keep having to ask people to repeat themselves - over and over! It is not a volume issue, the person comes across a bit garbled.

Is call clarity an issue that will improve with updates or not? Unfortunately, this might be a deal breaker if it is a hardware issue. Again, I love this phone and want to find a way to keep it - if at all possible. Could this be a defective handset?

Thoughts?

TIA
