There is a mod you can do which involves taking the thing apart and soldering the D+/D- pins together. I don't really want to do that. Has anyone had any luck finding an adapter that will let you draw 1 AMP?

I found the following thread on here that discusses this issue, but it doesn't seem to have any resolution: Charging: USB and AC differences - Android Forums
Just buy THESE

1 amp per port, get extra usb cords from monoprice, you are good to go. I have them everywhere.

And I have THESE all over the house. They have a dual port one of these too.

All available from Walmart or bestbuy.

Thanks, I'll check these out! I was thinking about getting a dual one.

Edit: Strike that. I looked up this adapter on Amazon and reviewers are saying that it has the same problem. Have you been able to verify you are getting 1 amp from it?

Did you get "Skype" or "Skype mobile for verizon" (or something like that). The correct one in the market is just "Skype".

The family i skype with tell me that the picture and sound is equal or greater that my laptop. And I have a good laptop. I usually use it from wifi at home, but have used it with success driving down the road in 4g. I will check on changing the orientation thing, but I hold it in landscape with the front camera to my left. It works with my bluetooth earpiece great. It has much better video quality than Google+ via messenger for me.

I can vouch for the Griffin products. They are great. 1 amp (1000ma) like the Griffin and the one in the picture you posted is the same output as the stock GNex wall wart. If I could find any with 1.5 amp I would try those too.

I am also thinking of trying a 2 amp tablet/ipad wall wart plugged into the inverter in my truck. As long as it is 5 volts, the extra amps wont hurt a thing.

Actually, no. I dont know where to check a usb with a multimeter or I would. Alls I know is that i net a charge when plugged in while multitasking gps, navagation and streaming xm radio at the same time.

However, if you are concerned about it, try THIS
5 volts and 2.1 amp output.

I think I will try it too!

For anyone who is still wondering - the double data for Verizon ends on the 15th. I just heard a commercial for it.

Yeah, thats why I was trying to find one rated at 1 amp. The thing I'm questioning is whether that is what you are actually able to draw from it though. Some people are saying that your phone can't distinguish whether it is a data connection or a charger and limits the draw to 400 ma.

I read somewhere that there are apps that can measure the current draw, but the only one I could find is CurrentWidget. However, based on one of the reviews, I don't think it will work on the Galaxy Nexus.

Just Skype by Skype. I try to avoid Verizon apps whenever possible

Well, my current hunt is failing so I am hoping someone here can point me in the right direction. I have been searching on XDA and Rootzwiki for a themed ICS keyboard and can't find anything. My internet is acting up right now and its taking 2 minutes to load 1 stinkin web page so my search as been painful...but if anyone can point me in the right direction to some themed, stock ICS keyboards that'd be great!

I'm interested in this as well. I'm interested in a neon blue color, but stock ICS so I can keep the excellent voice to text feature.

Not bad. You had it on the charger 3 times, maybe 2 hours worth?

How much was your screen on time during that 20 hrs you remember?

I've used Google Goggles for that. I've never compared it against any other dedicated apps, but it usually gets all the relevant information and has an option to add as Contact.

Default Long term iPhone user, blah, blah, blah....

Not sure if this is the correct thread but what the hell!

Well, after every incarnation of the iPhone so far I have finally decided to move over to Android. ICS just looks too good compared to my iOS which I thought would never be beaten. And the galaxy nexus looks like a great handset so made the plunge.

I must say, great phone, great software. Finally android is moving in the right direction with a operating system that looks good, is slowly conforming to a set standard but still leaving scope for nerdy types to mess if they feel. I liked the closed environment of the iPhone as every app was made for it, I see that android is attempting in future to be similar between both phones and tablets. (but not too much!)

Now I love my iPad and can not as yet see android even coming close to that for at least another year or so but as for the phone.....the iPhone needs to change dramatically with the iPhone 5, many people buy it simply because it's apple (yes, I did) and because the apps look great and everybody seems to make them for it (think sky go in the uk!)

Anyway, bye bye iPhone 4s......well hello android galaxy nexus!

Oh, one last thing, I don't like phone makers messing with android, I like the stock software. Personally I see no reason to put their own skin on it? That is the main reason, or one of them I didn't like android. And I don't root phones.

We'll just file this comment away for a few months until you've had time to drink the Android juice. It may come back to haunt you in 6 months.

Not yet anyways. (How's that juice?)

It was plugged into the computer during the tether work. Yep, on and off for about 2 hours. Screen on, the computer can barely keep up.

Screen is off during xm sports streaming (finebaum fix).

Screen on maybe 6 or 8 hours? That's a swag.

It's been a while since I've used Tapatalk. You like it better than the Phandroid app?

Honestly I do like Tapatalk better than the Phandroid app -- the new update is much cleaner too and they made some really nice optimizations. It's always super fast.

Good morning everyone!

Also I somehow misplaced the headphones/headset that came with the phone and I liked them because they were "decent" sound quality and had the built in mic.

If anyone needs a replacement set, Amazon has it for $5.54 and free shipping: http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-Headphone-Handsfree-EHS44ASSBE-GH59-10443B/dp/B005FUNYV2/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1325772919&sr=8-1

Yeah I figured out which file to tweak in Nova launcher a while ago. I'm surprised it took the devs this long.

Welcome to the forums and welcome to Android, Dave!

I think you'll find sufficient help for anything issue you come across right here in the forums. Hope you enjoy your Nexus as much as we enjoy ours!

So I have tried the trick of leaving wifi on all the time and for the past 3 mornings I have the same problem when I get to work - I lose ALL data until I turn off the wifi. It seems to be just at work. If I turn off the wifi I get data with no problems. I'm not overly concerned but thought I'd share this possible anomaly.

You're not connected to a wifi network when you're at work are you?

LOL.... I don't use it much - a few calls & texts, browse the web while sitting on the couch, some email.... maybe a game of Monopoly every now and then. BUT, I have not changed my habits and am getting 2x the battery life that I got on the Rezound :-)

EDIT - actually now that I think about it I was on a job taking photos with it - I probably took 40 with flash.

Nope, wifi at work is basically nonexistent unless you are right next to the router. But it seems to be the only place that no wifi connection causes all data to be lost.

Wow. I am impressed. Although you'll rarely find me without the phone in my hand or within reach.

Haha, I wonder what changed for Rob to allow tapatalk. I bought that app two days before he banned it, looks like it's time to reinstall it.

Ditto for me and the reason I bought Tapatalk was for this forum. Time to reinstall it.

I think it came down to reinstating tapatalk or updating the app and tapatalk was the easier of the two. IMHO anyway.
