So, Me and my friend who has a Moto Droid where at this bar. We walk in, and I see this girl playing with her Eris. I go to him, "watch, I'm going to open this set with my phone".
Me: "OMG is that a droid??"
Her: "Yea!"
Me: *takes out his phone* The Eris right?
Her: "omg yea, awesome!"
I then showed her about some battery saving techniques. I also showed her 2.1 (she didnt know she even had 1.5/cared about an upadte) but told her not to worry she'd get it soon too. My friend jumped right in and talked to her friend, and eventually started showing off his droid.
So, i got a pair of cute girls numbers thank to my Eris.
Effing iPhone, everyone has one now, so it's lost it's coolness.

It's really not hard to get people's numbers in NYC. I won't end up calling them. The bar we where at, apparently, was a gay bar ( i ran into one of my friends from school, who was shocked to see me there...since he knows i'm straight).

I know there's a lesbian bar in Chicago that may get closed down and I was wondering, the gay community would be the last group of people I would expect to discriminate, but are men barred from lesbian bars and vice-versa?

Women are not barred from gay clubs but straight men are barred from lesbian clubs. (Unless you know someone ;-)

But that's exactly my point. There is no reason for a guy to go to a lesbian bar with those intentions. I've been to lesbian bars a lot but would never hit on anyone in there. It's just not appropriate IMO. Not that I wasn't attracted to some of them, but if you are accepted into a lesbian bar, it's hands off. Oh, I never said it wasn't pointless and it could be dangerous for some too. Some of those girls are the man hater types. I've seen guys get there butts kicked for messing with the wrong girl. I was just saying that guys aren't forbiden from going in.

my girl has a girlfriend but thats not the same thing. It was akward when she first told me that her room mate wasn't exactly her room mate, but she was her gf lol, especially being 2 years into our relationship but i guess thats a whole nother story

But I also see merit in the way the thread was started here; good forums of a basically technical nature always have a frivolous thread or two. The moderators are then challenged, though, to keep it somewhat related to the general subject(s) of the area, plus to keep it civil, etc.

Yeah, but I just realized something. The title of the thread, "Opened a set of girls" begs what's being discussed here. So really, if you don't want to read something that is obviously unrelated to the tech portion of this forum, then just don't open it. It's really a no brainer. That point could have been put in the thread in a manner other than with use of the term, "jackass," aimed at another member.

First up, we don't discriminate here on AF. Everyone is welcome regardless of age, gender, religion, sexual orientation, hair colour etc etc. Nothing in this thread gets anywhere near overstepping the site rules..... except the fact that it's drifted way off the forum topic. That's certainly no grounds for closing it. If you don't like the content then move onto the next thread - simple.
As suggested, I'll move this to the Lounge so that the discussion can continue. Kinda figured that after reading through the original thread. Really the only thing that drains my phone now is actually talking on it. This thread was more fun in the main forum. Oh well, at least they didn't lock it.
Hey funny thing happened tonight. I turned off my phone, actually a reboot. It was getting laggy. I said, wtf, can't hurt. When I turned it back on the battery was showing a greater charge. Stayed that way all night. Just plugged it in. Pandora on. Goodnight.
