The two I like best and use the most are gimp (offline) and sumopaint (online or offline with paid version). Give 'em a try.

Just a note on these - Gimp is definitely the more feature filled of the two, but it's also harder to learn to use than Sumo (IMO). And there are many video tutorials on the use of both on Youtube (& elsewhere, I'm sure). Just give me a shout if you have any questions.

Good luck & have fun!

I'd look into the GimpShop set, it's gimp, but made to look like photoshop. I have never actually used it, but I've been meaning to get it running (i've always just stuck with regular boring gimp)

But yeah, gimp ftw.

IF you don't have the money for Photoshop, use GIMP.

Keep in mind though, Photoshop is superior is pretty much every way, and if you have a .edu email address they'll give you a pretty good discount on the software.

Also, photoshop offers a thirty day trail, so that's something to consider...

err... wrong thread, I swear this was a browser error, and that the problem was not between keyboard and monitor, but I'd probably be lying.

Back on topic of photo software, I like IrfanView in windows, it's not too bad. good for viewing pictures, and making slight changes to them.
