Default Root Info If Anybody Would Be So Kind..

Hello All,

I'm new to the SmartPhone thing and I'm loving my new Eris. However, I've noticed a lot of people with HTC SmartPhones using Root, Root termanology, etc. and I have absolutley NO idea what they're talking about .

If anybody can shed some light on a dismally dark and gloomy ignorance situation I would be very grateful.

I'm not too sure if I rooted my Eris or not. Was getting some great help in the live chat earlier, but had to leave so I got kinda confused again.

Also trying to figure out how to use the "Wifi Hotspot For Root Users" application. I'm assuming I did root my Eris with the 2.1 ROM (loaded onto the SD card) because before I did the application would tell me I wasn't rooted. Bluetooth connect necessary? If not/not possible how do I tether it to a computer? Would I be able to use this application to pick up wifi on my iPod touch? (haha threw that one in for fun).

Thanks again in advance anybody that can/will help!

First thing I would say is if you don't know or am unsure of what "root" is or why you need it, don't do it. You can really mess up you phone and VZW will not help you as you voided the warranty on it.

Now, you can tell if you are rooted by looking in the settings menu under about phone or phone info (not sure what the call it on the Eris) and looking for what firmware ver you have.
