Or a cherry tree.
Dread will be more than willing to share his magnificent walnut cherry bread recipe. You could give that to your mom, along with the tree

Hmmm, still trying to figure out something for my mom.
She'll actually be in town for my nephew's Christening so I don't have to ship anything. Maybe I'll check around town today.

No idea what to get her either. Mothersday is celebrated with mixed feelings here since my bro passed away two years ago. Left me as only child.

Taking her to a Joe Cocker concert this friday but that ticket was a x-mas gift

Sorry to hear about that, Kaat.
My mom is still big into Mother's Day while my dad could care less about Father's Day (a phone call suffices ).

Haha. Marco's dad is that easy too.

Still need to find the right way to deal with it. My mom cannot help it, being reminded of her loss on those days. Me having the urge to spoil her double now

Problem with a cherry tree is they need a female and male to pollinate. They work so much better in orchards. A 10 ft pear tree would work way better, since I can actually fit 2 '

I have a female Ginkgo Tree in my front yard that produces the most awful smelling fruit?or actually I think it's technically a nut? I didn't plant it...the city I live in planted some of them years and years ago ..we call them stink bombs..they literally smell like dog doo! The fruit drops in the fall.Apparently they are commonly eaten in Asian countries . One of my neighbors comes and gathers them and roasts them and she made me try one once ..I'm not a fan..
but I AM thinking of charging her $$ for my next stink bomb harvest!!

The only way that can happen is if it's a hybrid tree. Not a big problem of course, but I have a heirloom non GMO garden. Hence why I would want a tree that could cross pollinate. Of course of you have other cherries in a closer proximity, that wouldn't be a problem.... but I know for a fact I don't.

Gooseberries are really sour, but go well with something like apple in a crumble. Tae and loganberries are similar to raspberries, so I doubt you'd like them much, on another note, Rhubarb is dead easy to grow

Apple, cherry, strawberries, blue grapes and plums in the back. And herbs. Will get some tomato, chillies and peppers this week.

I have broccoli but the problem is it's so hot, in seeding them in a few weeks for a fall harvest. I do have a ton of tomatoes and beans. My fall will be asparagus, broccoli, collards, winter lettuce and carrots to start. Oh and I'm trying corn this year.

Farmer's Market was really low key. Understandable being this early in the season. Only one vendor with fresh veggies (greens, spring garlic, radishes etc). She said the reason being as virtually the rest of them are from PA while she's from VA where the season is further along.
Hoping to see some peas next week!
Well, with the few veggies I picked up, looks like it'll be omelets and potatoes/bacon for dinner.

Bah!!!! Bread stuck to my pan.

May either pick up a new, heavier duty bread pan or work better at greasing it. At least what is left tastes pretty good.

Have you tried cast iron?

A bit more fickle but much more predictable.

Will look into that or porcelain (a la Le Creuset). I use cast iron as much as possible in my cooking; Lodge makes up the bulk of my cookware.

Ahh, looks like they make a loaf pan (great deal too!).

Edit: Yeah, yeah, just ordered.

SAM'S club and Costco make an extremely good knock off to La Creuset. I have purchased both and much to my dismay. The results are very similar. Not enough to spend the extra money on the name brand.

Hope everybody is having a great Saturday. Glad things are coming along w/ the house Hulk.

After a nice big Mexican dinner & a few 's, I'm wiped.

Trent : the whole reason A. Barton is leaving Memphis is b/c he was having to compete for playing time w/ one of our best players ( Joe Jackson ). So if he comes your way & you have a stud freshman coming in, it sounds like he would be in the same boat. But yeah, he is a good kid & we had no problems w/ him on or off the court during his time in blue & grey

Good sundaymorning folks. Reading and Watching back to catch up each morning has been an over moderated joy for the last couple of days. I am liking the pics very much

How are the kitty and her kittens, Daddy?

How the beeb did mama Treb fix that swirl in her cakes? Congrats to the whole Treb nest

It's Liberation Day here today. Blue sky and in the sixties. It's also our last vacation day. No plans yet though.
You?

Passed an old city: Oudewater. Most buildings are from the 17th century. Cute huh? 1367764016235.jpg1367764042734.jpg1367764060853.jpg1367764075750.jpg

This balance wage is of the year 1482. It was originally for weighing hemp (for ship robes) but became famous as the witch test. If you were too light you had to be a witch...1367764500520.jpg

It was really good! I enjoyed the whole marathon experience despite the couple hiccups the theater experienced. I'd definitely do another one if the opportunity comes up.
