Thumbs up iPhone 5 Speculation

Well I am considering going to the dark side: I may be getting the new iPhone 5 when it comes out. I have been so involved with iPhone 5 rumors that I created a Facebook fan page just for iPhone 5 speculation: https://www.facebook.com/TechStream101

"TechStream101: Everything iPhone 5 and other tech: https://www.facebook.com/TechStream101"

I don't have a good reason for possibly switching to iOS besides it looks cool and I am interested in its features. It's like having a Mac around the house - it's a fun new toy to mess around with.

What do you guys think?

Edit: Here is a video of all iPhone 5 Speculation from August 27th - August 31st: iPhone 5 Speculation: August 27th - August 31st (Full Video) - YouTube

In all seriousness, just choose whatever is the best solution for your needs. There is no right or wrong, there is just 'this does what I need and i'm happy with it'

So, with that said and done, see ya back here in ooh, 6-7 months?

Yeah but I am the cool guy offering news to people and what not. Why post on other, less-formulated threads? I like to take time on the threads I create.

Watch out for the allure of "cool". iOS has been the same flavor of cool for 4 years now and no sign of it changing any time soon. If you get bored with stuff easily, the iPhone 5 will be last year's model train set by Christmas. Of course if you get frustrated easily and dislike change for changes sake, then maybe iOS will be a breath of fresh air.

iPhones work. Yup. They have lots of apps, too. Nothing wrong with having one if you want one.

Maybe it's just me, but there isn't a hell of a lot of fundamental differences between Android and iOS. There are quirks to both. And Android may be more difficult to use, at first (I've been using it so long everything seems second nature at this point). But I think I would be unsatisfied if I were to go to iOS after becoming accustomed to Android. If Android isn't your thing, then I can understand trying iOS. If you like Android, though, iOS can be rather simplistic.

The reasons I use Android over iOS is mostly due to lack of widgets and the fact that I can't stand having all my icons in a pre-configured grid. For the app tray, I understand that, but for the homescreen? I don't organize my PC's desktop like that, I'm not going to organize my phone like it, either.

Surprisingly, I do like change quite a bit thus driving my urge to purchase the new iPhone when it comes out. Hopefully it satisfies me for a while anyways.

I used to have all sorts of time to try out various ROMS and perform other customizations, but life is happening and I want something that will be great out of the box. Yeah I will probably jailbreak it but that will be it. Like when I got my iMac in which everything was different and I had to get used to the new layouts, the iPhone 5 will be the same.

I can appreciate that. However, I wasn't talking about switching ROMs. Even though I'm rooted with my GS3, I haven't done much to it. I still run the stock ROM. If you looked at my GS3 against another, you'd be hard pressed to see what I did to differentiate it from any other GS3. I also wanted a phone 'that just works'.

It's sad that Android phones are just now getting to that point. But I think the HTC One Series and the new Galaxy series (GS3, Note 2, etc) are going to be the standard bearers that Android needs to be comparable to the iPhone in this regard.

Hear you Jero, once I got a taste of stock ICS and now JB on my Nexus devices, haven't had a desire to flash a whole lot.

I get my rumors from TWiT.TV mostly. The commentator Sarah Lane is an Apple fangirl. Every show she does she talks about some new Apple rumor. It has gotten downright annoying. The reason Apple has the ego it does is because of fangirls like her in the technoratti. No computer electronics are nearly as important as fangirls like her make them seem.

Get yourself an iPad. It's the exact same OS and at least you get a usable form factor. iPhones are crappily-made devices with poor phone capabilities, small screens and easily breakable components. The only decent things you get with them is the camera (comparable to a premiere Android phone) and lots of choices in cases in your local box store (assuming you give it a couple months with the new iPhone5 design).

I'm down on iOS because I lived with it for two years with iPad and iPod Touch. The iPad is still usable to me having a large tablet screen, but the iPod Touch is too tiny to use. I tried to like the iPhone5 because of all the advertising hype. (And being a girl, I enjoy accessories shopping.) Rrouble is when I'd compare my Samsung Galaxy screen (4.3" and now 4.8") to the tiny iPhone I got so frustrated. And I absolutely HATE the lack of widgets to check my weather and other info. I don't need to unlock my phone to get info in most cases. Just press the power button.

I used to really excited up to iPhone4, but now, not so much.
I don't know...the hype for smartphones is over for me.

Though the bezel less androids are interesting.
