Default The end is near. Maybe.

So I know you all have heard the rumors regarding the mayan calender ending in December of this year.

So should I quit my job, max out my credit card, load up on ammo, and steal the jeep of my dreams in hopes that December 21st is the last day of days?

I hope sprint has service in the post apocalypse. Lol

If the bacon shortage does actually happen it may be a sign of the end days......at least for me.

Sprint wouldn't exist post-apoc. Neither would any of the mobile providers. Mobile phones would be a thing of the past, but if you are looking forward to planning for this supposed 'end of the world' - you can gimme your LTEvo.

I don't think anyone has stopped to think, that the guy making the calendar figured he had enough years covered so he decided to stop and go have a beer with his buddies.

That being said, I want some bacon

In all seriousness I am just worried about how all the nuts will act once we get closer. If anything we will destroy ourselves. Hopefully people have sense not to go crazy. But you never know.

Actually, because leap year wasn't included in that Mayan prediction, we are already well past the end of the Mayan calender. Anyways, the end of the Mayan calender was never the end of the world, just the restart of the calender, kind of like going from December 31 to January 1, just on a lot longer timeline, lol!

The "end" is actually a series of "ends" like the ramps on a ratchet cog. "It's nearly the end, here it comes... oh". And so on .

It will be interesting. I read that law officers stopped the sacrifice of a young girl when Halley's comet came in 1910. They had comet dust, masks, elixirs just for safeguards.

OTOH - that man that keeps predicting the end of the world has been wrong about 3 times already.

Harold Camping Predicts End of the World, Again - ABC News

All this making us cry wolf too many times to care?

The guy who predicts the end of the world, and it's based on Bacon shortages causing thermonuclear warfare, may be pretty close to the mark. I mean seriously, wars have been fought over far less.

What were we talking about again?

I sincerely pray this calendar is correct! I beg to see the apocalypse! This world needs to be reformed. Even if I personally don't survive.

We need a world of love and not greed.

A world of education and pupils whom take their teachings to heart.

A world that lacks greed and hate, dysfunction and confusion, money and stock markets...

I say, let's go back to the old skool like the settlers and REALLY see what life is about when we have to live off of the land and hunt our food, bust @ss to gather firewood for winter. To once again become one with our mother, nature...

And people wonded why I'm suicidal ....

I love and use technology, yet, it never brings me peace and only serves to leave me feeling invaded and hollow at the end of the day.

I say...

BRING IT!

I had to work hard due to the Y2K BS. I had to verify and check and adjust and diddle with hundreds of computers looking for I forget what. Adding to the crap was the need to ferret of all illegal copies of MS Office, installed on any employee's PC.

We had hundreds of Office users who installed the program from the network. We did not have a site license.

You know how many predictions there has been regarding the end of existence? Too many thats how many... There was 2 of them last year even, a lot of people quit their jobs and gave some guy all their money so everyone could be warned. After the world continued existing everyone was SOL because they gave up everything for nothing. Then the guy said he was off on his calculation and that it was actually in October not May.. Guess what he was wrong again. That same man made predictions of the end of the world in the 90s too... And his reason for being wrong.. Wrong calculation..

I know I have seen some documentary where were interviewing living Myans (yes they are still around) and they even said the calendar didn't mean the end of the world, it meant the start of a new beginning. There also is (or at least was) a page on NASA's website dedicated to telling people that there wasn't any evidence to say the world would end.. They even said the world is just as likely to end any other day as it is the 21st of December.

Believe what you want, but I do not think that anyone will be able to predict the end. The end will come when no one is expecting it, with out warning. If I would have believed in the end being in 2012, I would not have gone to college, I would not have even looked for a job..

Theres my view on the whole thing haha

Side note to think about... The Myan calendar was created around 3372BC .. Leap year was introduced in around 45BC... so if you go back, you will see that Dec 21st 2012 would have already happened and we would be in the year 2013.

I would tend to believe in NASA's prediction that the world will NOT end in 2012 than some people's interpretation that an ancient, civilisation's calender ending will result in the world ending. Check it out here: Why the world will NOT end in 2012: Nasa scientist debunks internet rumours | Mail Online

From my understanding of Astronomy, the world will end in 5 billion years when the sun becomes a red giant and engulfs the earth. The end is far.

No, that would be Hulks! Green is my favorite color.

One question though, what would happen to the vampires? Since your undead would you be affected or would it be a world of big green hulks smacking down the vampires who try to feed on them? Interesting dilemma...

I wonder if all of this "end of the world" crap is a modern invention or an older one. It seems more and more people see it is a reason to give up on life and live in some kind of fantasy world. Every time something like this happens it creates such an availability problem in the firearms market.

It's nothing new, dates back as far as man has been around and capable of independent thought and a modicum of intelligence. There are historical records of apocalyptic predictions from almost every major civilization for thousands of years.

The End of Days would be the series finale' of Supernatural, or even worse the day Doctor Who is dying and can no longer regenerate.
