Default Freaky Pics of Mars: Spiders and odd structures.

I saw this post on yahoo news:

Mysterious 'spiders' on Mars - Yahoo!7 Technology

They are talking about the dark spider like specs..
BUT I AM MORE CONCERNED ABOUT WHAT THE SPIDERS ARE SITTING ON.!!!

this is taken from about 200 miles above mars. and the scientist are guessing the spiders are dark gas ruptures... so the structure must be large-ish.

what the hell are these structures? can they be natural formations??...
looks like fossil bones or exterior shells of some creature's remains? or what?????

The black specs don't look like spiders to me.. but I too am very curious as to what that is.. it doesn't look like anything natural. The rounded edge on the picture on the right looks to precise to be natural... but someone must know what it really is, otherwise I think this would have gotten more media attention. Similar to the "face" on Mars

From 200 miles up those would be some big bones

200 miles up.. but zoomed in..
but being the spiders are some kind of gas geysers.. the structures should be about a football size

that face in the ground..i have seen that before..and although very neat..i believe that could be natural ..

You can photograph stones, soil, other stuff and eventually find patterns and probably faces. Heck, they see Elvis in their oatmeal and Jesus in soiled napkins. We are programmed to see patterns because that is part of who we are.

Sorry, the face on mars and the spiders are just natural oddities.

Never trust the scientists. They should never contemplate much past the atmosphere because It took them eons to discover Pluto is not a planet.

Or Photoshop.

At least we've finally discovered where they buried Hoffa.

I saw something on the science channel about how the human brain is programmed to recognize specifically human faces.

As far as these things go, I'm not sold. They didn't really look like anything to me. I'd like to see a close up with the rover before I make a call one way or the other.

I am, however, going to have nightmares about a robotic spider army invading earth from their strategically located base of operations - mars.

I don' think they all are, but I'd say quite a few are. Though, I'd like to think everyone is afraid of invasive interplanetary robotic arachnids.

Dear Neil,

We graciously accept your invitation and will be providing refreshments. Please understand that our beverage of choice comes in 8-packs for obvious reasons. A point of clarification sunbathing is not a recreational activity. We are solar powered and require periodic exposure to UV radiation. The structure is purely ornamental. As a matter of diplomacy, we thought we'd return the gesture.

LOL you two are nutz!
but I like it :P
crazy is the new normal!

but in all seriousness (if that is possible)
what the hell are those structures? any one believe those look like natural formations by some sort of wind? how can the surrounding be so flat, if the there is wind to shape those rocks? there would be waves in the sand.

Not necessarily in the way we'd normally assume. There's a similar situation in (I believe) a California desert where there are very high winds but some effects due to frost cycles make it look flat. I'll track down the details and get back to you. Plus, I didn't see if any zooming was involved there, just 200 miles up. And a single direct view from the top, without a parallax view, can be deceiving.

Dear Earthlings,
You are so easily amused. There is more to this than meets the (your) eye, I have just been messing with you. Much like your little wolf in the pig story I have huffed and puffed, yet I created instead of destroyed.
It's a gas being me.

Dear witch Nebula

Have you tried this?

As for the rock formation, let's assume for a moment that it is not a random natural event that coincidentally looks like a human face when viewed from a single vantage point ... What, then, would it be? A deliberate structure as in Mission to Mars? Perhaps the remnants of a statue from a long vanished civilization? Aliens messing with us for their own amusement? A message from a deity because the burning bush thing is so old school?

The problem with trying to figure out what it is, in order to assign deliberate significance to it, we must first assume the conclusion to be true which is one of the basic logical fallacies.

Only two things can be said with certainty ... it is there and we don't know what it is.

Naw . . . we can say for certainty it is a natural soil, sand or rock formation and too many people have seen Mission To Mars. Built by erosion and eons.

Like I said, we humans are designed to look for patterns and we see things that do not exist. What does happen is they often come to fife on the web and then they never die. You will find pictures in natural materials if you look for them.

There be no martians out there, expect for the wee ones that might be in the water or remaining as fossils.

We are alone!

forget the face.. it is easily dismissed to random structure.. not defined enough to give it more credit.

but the structures under the "spiders" are much harder to dismiss

Why?

There are roads and buildings under the Caribbean and just off Japan, those two places only fueling no end of occult speculations, but they are provable as completely natural.

There was an iterative process used to go from raw sensor data to an image - and the face was a goof. The process wasn't finished, the image wasn't done. When done, there never was a face, and we've photographed it again just to try to quell that meme.

And here, we have incomplete data.

There's too little information for those of us in armchairs to see what natural process was involved for those rocks, but it's probably obvious to geologists.

If not, NASA would have been discussing them instead of the gas shadows.

Sure, that's what they WANT you to say. I have driven on the road under the Caribbean. You drive 50 feet, come up for air, drive 50 feet and come up for air. But eventually you will get there and that is where they are hiding.

They know about the thems and the thems are controlling the theys. The master Overlords are controlling the thems, the theys, and the us's. And for the record, theys are not grey, they are sort of a mauve with longish hair.

They want to take over and the government is keeping it a secret. I know you know more than you are telling us, Early. Be afraid, be very afraid because They are here and the other theys know all about it.

They all communicate through Wikepedia and some of the YouTube videos contain a buried hypersonic signal. Why do you think cute kitty videos are so popuar?

Remember if you are not a they or a them, you are doomed.

If the Universe is infinite, it will be impossible to reach the end. Or the half-way point, or quarter way point and on and on. Apparently, we wll ever reach the end even if it finite. Either way, there is lots of space in our universe.

The earth formed and that proves it is is not impossible for another earth like planet to form. Out there, somewhere. Either that or we are a fluke and there is only one of us floating around in all that space.

I believe we are not alone. In all that vastness, there must be another place like earth. Perhaps a place just like us, technologically. Or perhaps a place where the bomb was developed early on and humans are gone.

We are not alone, seriously. The problem is, we cannot prove it.

Bob, I assure you, I know far more than I am telling.

I will tell you this though - every time someone sets out to prove what they know ahead of time, science has left the building and logic soon follows.

What you did there - I see it.

In the right hand is a Tralfalmadorian Hyperluminal Spanner, and he's flashing for the Antares Proboscis Gang.

The insulated watch band drew immediate attention to that because (naturally, a little too naturally!) the arms not being quite parallel in 2D and not co-planar in 3D.

Things like that can unnoticed in any neighborhood.

Very astute, your powers of observation are almost perfect had you not missed the mass concealed under the shirt that could only be...Quatto!

I am, however, going to have nightmares about a robotic spider army invading earth from their strategically located base of operations - mars.
The "canals" of Mars are the same optical phenomena. Craters that happened to be fairly lined up gave the appearance of straight lines.
The orginal word was canali - which is Italian for channels, not canals.

Also Lowell stopped down his 24" scope so far - he was seeing the blood vessels in his own eye.

Similar to the "face" on Mars

From 200 miles up those would be some big bones
That image was taken in 1977 I believe (and was only 50 bytes or so in size/quality?), read the book "Faces of Mars" in the early 80's, which used this image and many others trying to say that this face and "the city of pyramids" called Cydonia (I think) was all possibly made by intelligent life. Fast forward to 2006 and look at the same image in better 1 megapixel 3d mapping quality. Doesn't much look like anything but a mound of dirt.

I noticed that. Did you happen to notice that the Franni nut has left handed multi-chamber threads and not the standard thread type we know about?

We are decades away form that kind of tech. But you already know that.

I do see a rotisserie chicken on a spit. Did you notice that? It is right next to the foundation under construction for the next Apple store. Walk past the right eye (on the face) and turn east when you pass the nostrils.

earlymon... I see that the rock formations are interesting..but they are easily dismissed to be natural formations... random.. but still cool

and i am sure there are a lot of them on earth.. that are cooler but still dismissible.
and maybe some that are not so easily explained.

the marsian structure.. is not so easily explained. why the scientist dont explain them or talk about them.. would/could mean:
1. it is nothing and the experts in this field have already know what it is and have moved on to the "spiders"
2. the experts dont know what it is, but the picture is already leaked out.. so they are ignoring it.. to cause the public to assume that it was not important and move on. (yeah i know.. conspiracy theory gone crazy)

i just find it all very interesting.. and wish to have some better understanding of those structures. Mars in general is interesting.. life outside of earth is interesting. put them together and I want more!

It's the first one.

Everyone in every related field studies every detail of photos like these.

When the experts get stumped they don't cover it up, they go for grant money or a staff position so that they can funded to answer the question.

If no one here has done that as of yet, it's only because the interesting questions could be still be under debate or not noticed yet.

Put another way, maybe the mystery isn't the structures, maybe it's where they're located. Or what they're sitting on or a part of. Or maybe the mystery is the sand around them.

So, when I say, not enough information, I'm not saying that you're wrong to speculate about anything seen on another planet. Because it's too easy to get too complacent with our technology - good grief, it's Mars! No, I'm saying to be open to many speculations when a mystery like that crops up. Because - Mars!

Used to keep a copy on my office wall of the National Enquirer front page that revealed that a squadron of B-17 bombers were parked on the dark side of the moon.

They stopped over to refuel on the bombing run against the Martian Arachonobot Nazi Bell Liberation Cadre but were mysteriously never heard from again.

Yup. I have one of them on my desk. No, wait, it's a TBM Avenger from Flight 19. Leonard, the ambassador (and my boss) has one of the B-17's in his back yard by the pool.

Wasn't there also an article about the cows that committed suicide by jumping off the Transamerica tower? That scene always made me chuckle.

We still have a flat earth society. Another group believes earth is supported by turtles.
They love that and think it's real.

The odd thing about the dark side of the moon is that it is more cratered and less maria.
The thought is the moon intercepted meteors that would have hit earth otherwise.

Oh, yeah - and Pink Floyd.

The Flat Earth Society is no longer about flat earth. They get together and drink and party. Not like the hard core flat earthers who also believe the moon is made of green Limburger. Those were the days, I'll tell you what.
