I love Christmas time but really the commercialization of the whole thing is one of the biggest turn offs. Retail stores everywhere are the blame. For a few moments every year they sell things at the price they should be everyday. The way I feel about it is simple, If you can't sell to me at the same price you sold to customer A then you are ripping me off. This does not bring out the best in people but the worst. Christmas as I remember was about giving from the heart and not about some cheap sell that the retail market has made us succumbed to. I personally don't like the insult nor do I like the fact that people show up as their worst to get a "Deal" Where is the Christmas spirit in that?
Wow, can you imagine spending Thanksgiving camping in a parking lot? Honey can you pass the can of cranberries? I hope we brought enough turkey loaf (or is it turkey sandwiches of maybe even tofurkey)...

Ah, Christmas in China, where the Santas sprout up, everyone enjoys their chocolate chip cuckoos, and worships at the creatively named Eastern Church, Western Church, Southern Church, and Northern Church.

I saw an ad in the paper this week by P.C. Richards that says they are honoring families, and the fact that the season doesn't start until the day after Thanksgiving, by not opening on Thanksgiving. I applaud any company doing that. I can understand grocery stores being open in the morning but there is no reason to be open all day. Just my 2¢
It hit us this year, my parents wanted us to come to FL for thanksgiving. But my wife wanted to do bf like I said earlier. If it had been Friday morning like it used to be, we could have pulled it off. Hopefully it starts moving back here soon.

I told my coworkers, whom were talking about the black friday lines, about this funky new thing called teh interwebz. I went on to tell them about how they could buy everything they want from online stores and have them gift wrapped and shipped to you (or whomever is getting the gift) without ever leaving the house. Plus the deals are roughly the same (if not exactly) and there's no need for a friggin' tent.

I think it caught on.

Interwebz? Sounds more like that Devil Magick to me.

I used to spend every Black Friday camping out with some friends at the local Best Buy, but after missing dinner last year - I was in the dog house. Needless to say, I learned my lesson. No more local Black Friday shopping. Save it for the online deals, which are often better.

ummm no that is not me nor my friends. we have better things to do on black friday. but i went last year around 6am and the line wrapped way down the building. it eventually went across the railroad that is directly behind the store. they had porta potties and vendors were there providing hot dogs with grilled vegetables. it was a crazy scene. not this year for me. LOL

I went to Best Buy this afternoon and saw six tents in front of the store... I was a bit shocked, I don't recall any other year where people were a whole 24hrs early... (which isn't as impressive as ocn seeing 'em a week early....)
Made me think of this thread

In my area, someone pitched a tent Monday at Best Buy, I couldn't believe it. They were on the local news and one of them said they will stay there in shifts, and they got tired of being second in line!

I went to Walmart last night to get my wife a rubbermade container set, bad idea.
One lady punched another in the face over a blender. A guy was arrested in the parkinglot for selling tazers to underage kids. The parkinglot was packed, I highly enjoyed myself watching all the crazies grabbing everything they could get their hands on. I also got a 16gig flash drive for like 6 bucks or something.
When I left I swung past the BestBuy and it was just as crazy there. The crowd was around the building already.
