I never really got into the new wine myself, always preferred vintage. Like a nice 2005 Changyu, Shandong Cabernet.

Pretty sure we're called oenophiles.
Haven't had a Nouveau in forever. Which winery did you have one from? I forget they're always released around turkey day. Duboeuf sees to be the really popular one.

Pardon my broken South Philly Gumba accent
In Pa we are very limited due to the antiquated state store/ liqour control board system, so yeah, Georges Duboeuf was the importer. The actual vineyard is of unknown origin.
Oh yeah, forgot how &^#( PA's laws are in regards to alcohol sales (especially beer).
Just talking about some wine earlier in what to bring to our family friends' house for turkey day. Not to derail this thread too much, but what do you folks like to drink for Thanksgiving? They're not really red wine fans so it's generally some Riesling, their favorite varietal.
I believe we either get the cabernet or the red. Gotta get some more from my brother-in-law, he buys it by the case.

Tried the Duboeuf last night, it was not very good. Last years was so much better!
I try to get a bottle every year, it's fun to taste them. Sorely disappointed this year though, but there have been worse ones in years past for sure.
We're still sitting on a bottle of Octagon we got at the winery last Spring: Octagon | Barboursville Vineyards | Palladio Restaurant | 1804 Inn
Think we may save it for Christmas though. My folks would really love it. Gave them a couple bottles (Chard and Merlot) which they really enjoyed.

Never been a big fan of Duboeuf but that is the good thing about wine, there is something for everybody. I love Australian wines, I have an 02 Penfolds RWT and an 05 Amon Ra (this is one of those buy all you can afford when you see it, consistent 96-100 points) waiting! Unfortunately my cellar died so they are being held dormant in my fridge.

That's awesome! Last restaurant I worked at had a Remy Martin rep come through and non of the chefs want to try their samples!
Yep, got to try some RM XO and Louis XIII!
They are quite delicious but unless I start making 6 figures plus, not worth the purchase.

It was drinkable, but you are correct. Last year's was vastly better. The good

I'm not crazy about the Australians ... wine i mean . French and Italian go without saying, but lately Spain and Chile have been producing some interesting stuff.

Grabbed a bottle of Albarino to bring with us for Thanksgiving. Folks we're with don't care for reds and I like to bring something they may not have tried. Last time we went they tried a Gruner Vetliner for the first time. Good stuff.
