It really seems absurd but I guess a lot of things in life do.

Sorry, I somehow left off the part about TWC in my area only. Throughout the country there are other companies, but in most areas they also have a monopoly. Sorry for the misrepresentation.

Yeah, hehe, I remember back in the late 90s when they were getting blasted because their catalogs were so "scandalous" and had to be plastic wrapped when shipped.
I don't know, their image peaked around 2003 and I don't think anyone cares about them anymore. Rarely see anyone in their stores anymore.
Guess I'm just someone who only shops at H&M. Do you have those where you live?

How many satellite TV companies operate in the US? Two is it, DirectTV and Dish Network? A duopoly.

Think you can get satellite broadband. But from what I've heard it's very expensive, slow, has a long latency, and a low data usage cap. It's something you have as a last resort, for when there's nothing else available.

Abercrombie is expensive. I don't like h&m. We don't have it in the Philippines but there are some in Singapore and here.

Yeah, just the two. I'm not sure it's an option as far as satellite broadband, because the package you can get through DirectTV that includes internet comes from the local telephone company. So all it offers is dial-up or slow DSL. I'm not sure was Dish Network offers around here if they even offer anything at all.

It's an American (or Mexican American if you will) dip. SUPER simple to make. You basically layer a bunch of stuff from cans and it's AWESOME!

We used to have it all the time at friends house growing up when we went over to their pool. I love it.

Well, I guess being so close to Baltimore we SHOULD be rooting for them.
I'm pretty indifferent. Both teams deserve the win, so I think it'll be a great game.

Time for bed, I'm tired, been playing pool, singing at KTV most of evening, and white knuckle taxi ride home...phew.

BTW first time I seen a good use for Microsoft Surface/Windows 8, in a karaoke machine. Seems to work really well here for selecting songs.

It's not terrible overall, takes a little getting use to. I personally like it from the perspective that it unifies their phones/tablets/pc's on one os more or less. Would be a lot more useful if I used Windows Phone though.

Also, when more devices like the Transformer AIO come out, it will have increased utility.

Its bit useless but the fact desktop mode is still needed makes the metro part kinda redundant.

I guess there is a benefit to them having one crappy UI.

That's probably not fair, it probably works well for phones, I just hate it on my laptop.

Who ever designed the metro ui needs to be replaced. But at least they don't have to worry about Apple litigation over the ui

My guess is that it's a casualty in order to keep it unified as one OS. It could also been seen as push to get people to upgrade towards these laptop/tablet combos that we've seen advertised instead of just upgrading older devices. But as sales have shown, this has been a complete failure.

I really am looking forward to the Asus AIO being released to see if anything comes of it. Being able to dual-boot Win8 & Android sounds great, but I imagine that device will be locked tight because of MS. I hope that the dev community can dissect it's method of dual-booting because most of the methods currently are kind of messy.

I've got Win 8 on a laptop here, it's not touch screen, so I just never use the Metro UI, it's always in Classic mode. However it would seem to work really well in a kiosk environment. Like the karaoke machine we were using last night. It was really smooth, looked good, and easy to use and intuitive, unlike some other karaoke machines. Probably would be the same for other touch screen kiosk uses, like airport check-in machines, phone top-up vending machines, ticket vending, information terminals for museums, ATMs, etc.

It couldn't be more slow here. About to kill myself watching the clock. Ugh.
After the chaos that was yesterday it's hard to transition. Plus, it's Restaurant Week here in DC which means tons of folks going out to high end restaurants for a cheap meal. We're not participating so we're only negatively affected. Bah, just want to go to bed.

Um... No, it's bad on phones, too. My mom had one and the functionality was just awful. Finally sold her on Android this past weekend :-)
