Default The best camera in the world...

The best camera in the world is the one you have with you when you need a camera.

This evening, that was my cell phone.

This was taken and post-processed on my LTEvo.

I'm calling it "Going Places" because that describes it for me.

How about it? Got a photo you took, just for the moment, just for you, that speaks to you?

Let's see!

This was taken in the late Summer of 2009, of Daisy after we had just played a ton together (she was a lot like a large dog and loved to play). granted, it was not a fancy smartphone camera, and i was a bit anti-smartphone during the time (i call it my retro tech phase) and it was just a flip phone, some $20 Verizon Samsung phone who's only notable feature was camera, it was a replacement to my aging Nokia 5185i that had burned in a house fire February that same year. as me and Daisy were lying together she looked at me and i was lucky to snap this picture of her smiling, as she was often camera shy. Like the Sanchez Butt Fumble, this picture of a deer is undefeated and has yet to be challenged by anyone

I often find myself watching the squirrels and I hurried up and snapped this one because I knew he was after that rabbit! Unsuccessful by the way.
Played with Aviary on photo.

Great shot. The bike looks like something the guys on American Pickers would want to grab!

Here's one that definitely speaks to me, for me...about me. I took it a few days after Joy Noelle joined my family. My beautiful Freddie Mercury is looking down at her. Their weight difference that day? 180 pounds. (My kids all have to get along. That's a house rule! )

I take most if my pics with my SG3, simply because it is there when I need it.
When we're sitting around the dinner table the kitties like to be there too. Sometimes there's a beautiful connection, they're taking part in the conversation.

This was on my birthday this year; an April's weekend along the coast of Norway. I felt at home, totally relaxed here. A dear moment.

I like this threead hey!

Should we maybe sticky it perhpsa?

For some really good reason (I am still trying to figure out! ) I really like this thread!

Maybe because I like to see other parts of the world and other's perspective I think?

Either way I REALLY like this one!

How do I make it easy for me to find this thread because sometimes I am a dork king and can't seem to find my own threads at times?

heh!

xD

What is the "subcribe" thing do and should I experiment?

Great thread!

Well done GlassesMon!

How do you take such a wonderful shot with such massive glasses the size of Mars?

I love to snap a picture of just about anything, was in a phase of b/w buildings a long while ago. I don't have any on my laptop though, I'll have to fix that!
I took this in February when I visited my son in Fl., cracks me up every time I look at it. It's a Laughing gull:

And since I just got back from a raptor migratory bird count in the Helderbergs here is my resident Cooper's hawk. He likes my birdfeeder

Sometimes, you’ve just got to grab a camera. This one taken in 2003 with an Olympus C-2 is one that comes to mind.

On a sizzling (100+ degrees) day in May, I was in my usual spot at my patio table when this unexpected visitor showed up:

Possums are supposed to be nocturnal, so my first reaction was...WTF?!! Not only was she out in broad daylight but she was very UNafraid of this human being a few feet away from her. But she was just looking for water--so she wasn't rabid, just hot!

But the real reason I snapped pics is because of her striking resemblance to my little princess, Joy Noelle:

I think they're twins separated at birth...and by nine years...and 1500 miles, since Joy was born in Carrollton, Texas and the possum here in Arcadia, CA.

This was taken back in Feburary, the wife and I stop by Sweetie Pie's restaurant. It is featured on Oprah's OWN tv network (cable). The owner also used to sing with Ike & Tina Turner. She was an Ikette!

In 2011 we spent some time driving around in the south west of the USA. We passed by the Cadillac Ranch, in Amarillo TX.
An open field, clear blue skies. Ten colorful Cadillacs half-buried nose-first in the ground.

I stopped by the Range Cafe in Bernalillo, NM and took this for Kaat, she's visited there.

I believe I've shared this one before, but it's of the Angel Tree in Charleston, SC. Took it with my Gnex since I wanted to use Photosphere.

EarlyMon: Best in the world.

All of these pictures are causing me to feel very envious...that I lack the hardware to produce such beautiful images.

Don't sell yourself short my friend.

It's all about the feeling and the moment.

Many, many years ago a pro retired and left suitcases of Hasselblad equipment up for sale at the camera store where my buddy worked.

We got to talking and he challenged us to a showdown, the upcoming photography contest. My buddy took after him with a Mamiya RB-67 and me with a twin lens Rollei - we're talking top notch and major bucks, and we had our own darkrooms.

He mopped the floor with us using a Kodak Instamatic and drug store development for his prints.

I hope you find this video as moving as I do -

That was made with a kid's toy - the Fisher Price PXL 2000 - 120×90 pixels, 15 frames per second.

It's all about the feeling, it's all about the moment, it's all about how you feel.

Someone on the forums told me I have a grainy camera.

That's one opinion, here's mine - so what?

I think this shot of my grandson - "At The Zoo" - shows more emotion with more grain and color distortion added.

1379786191515.jpg

What do you think?

Never, never, never let anyone or anything discourage you from capturing the moments in your life.

That's just my opinion.

I've always said that a bad picture is better than no picture. Some of my bad pictures are my favorites.
My dad was a photographer and hated it when we kids "wasted film", yet he would develop and print them all. As we got older we could use his darkroom, that's where the fun was.
I went on assignments with him sometimes, had a blast and a lot of good memories. He took some stunning shots but every now and again it was his "bad" shots that I liked better.
Shoot, shoot and shoot some more. Bad be damned, you will be glad you have something because a bad picture is better than no picture

Coffee is an important part of my life. While staying in Warsaw, I frequented a cafe around the corner. Best damn coffee I have ever had. Worst service I've ever had.
This photo represents the perfection of life at that time, when it was simple and free. I look at this photo and I remember what it was like to not have a care in the world.

I love trains and I love vintage photos of them.

I took this one in Albuquerque on a hot day in the desert - and I wanted to capture the sense of the bleak light and searing heat in the lines extending to the horizon.

hardware? the hardware in my $20 Samsung Flip (i still have the phone in a drawer somewhere) was basically a 1/3 Megapixel and no flash. the fact Daisy came out the way she did was a miracle.

EarlyMon, saw that one you posted over in the (One?) thread discussing HDR. I admired it there too (though I think it was in color?)

Ah yes - here is the same image shot plain, then again with HDR (high dynamic range by averaging 3 pictures). The shot above, exactly what I was going for as soon as I looked down the platform, is the HDR shot, colorized.

I like the above shot with the muted colors best as it has more of an artistic flair to it. But that's just me.

That's the HDR shot, colorized - or color filtered, whichever you prefer.

It's been Ted Turner-ized.
That's the kind of shot I like in good ol' fashion black and white.

Not me, I think it loses some of the heat that way, but I reduced it to black and white for ya so here you go -

I know it's not at all what you were trying to capture but of the three shots I honestly like the b/w best.
It's actually the opposite of what you were after; cold, stark steel but it really works for me.
That's what's so great about a picture (or anything), no two see it the same way.
