Default The "What I got for Christmas Thread" thread.

I know some people exchange gifts on Christmas Eve instead of Christmas day, so let me start.

I bought myself a new Laptop (Asus Zenbook UX31A touch) and a new camera (Nikon D3200). My relatives gave me a headache and a case of indigestion ... same thing they got me last year.

I got my best gift last week. The kid came home. Nothing beats that. Nothing.
We have a family wedding right after Christmas so it's a tiny one this year. I am not giving or receiving much, and that's just fine with me.

Or the day after Christmas, as in my case this year! Our daughter and son-in-law, and our two beautiful grandsons, are arriving Thursday. I can't wait!

Good for you. Nice choices.

It would be "spit out my coffee" time, but I'm not drinking coffee right now.

I leave it up to the wife to go crazy each year. She never dissapoints. I took care of myself a few days back and ordered a knife I've had my eye on for some time. I stocked up on some refreshing beverages for the holiday. Have a house full of yummy stuff ready to cook. Kids are coming over tomorrow.. what more could a man want?

I didn't participate in Christmas this year. I gave nothing and I got nothing so it ended up working out.

My sweetie let me open 1 present tonight before I went to work. I got some beautiful flannel pajamas in a blue plaid print with a solid blue long sleeve shirt. It's kind of traditional actually, everyone gets new PJs for Christmas in my household.

Santa gave you a "make your own diamond" kit!

Now all you need to do is get that gold away from the hobbits.

Most of my gifts will involve gift cards or just cash

Other than that so far I've gotten battlefield 4

Shame on you, Mr Stinkster-Christmas-Grinch-Living-In-A-Dumpster-With-Giant-Ugly-Disgusting-Cockroaches. Coal looks like an appropriate gift for you this year, young man.

I didn't get much myself, I bought myself a copy of Arkham Origins so I had something for under the tree. I asked for money from everyone else to put towards a PS4 at some point early next year.

The cash thing didn't go to plan though, I bought myself a chromecast earlier in the month and I'm toying between getting a chromebook or a 2nd hand netbook. It's looking like the latter as I've just added a tonne to my ebay watch list. For all I'd use it for, I can't justify 200 on a chromebook and I can get a modest spec netbook for less than half that. Stick Mint or Ubuntu on there and I'm sorted.

My ultimate best present ever was a first christmas with my 8 week old daughter AND for the first time since his mother and I separated, having my son wake up here on Xmas morning. I have never seen such an excited wee man as he was yesterday.

He did pretty well, a tablet, some lego and some hot wheel cars and car set. Mrs Presidente wanted and got a juicer and my daughter got some musical thing for her crib, clothes and a play mat.

I'm a very, very happy man at the moment.

LOL same here. I can't watch Minecraft in split screen on our TV so I never played MC with my kids on the xBox. Fat man brought them tablets this year too, so we spent most of the day linked up on the tablets My vision is still blurred from that!!

My brother in law gave me around 200 shot gun shells. I was a very happy individual as I was down to my last box.

Other than that I got a bunch of very excited smiles from the little ones. Yeah, that made my chest hurt.

Best present ever.

I received exactly what I asked for...socks, lots of socks. I needed some long ones for my work boots and regular short ones since every year my Dad steals them, well not this year.

I, the guy who gave out Happy New Year cards instead of those other ones, spent Christmas with my make-believe family at Mom's assisted-living facility. Said family is her and her fake husband that lives down the hall, a couple that used to come visit her mother but kept coming even though she passed away, and me, who swore for the umpteenth time never to live in a place like that. We exchanged no gifts, but I brought the wine... ho ho ho.

What did I get for Christmas?

Lets see.

Well this year has been 1 hell of an awesome year for me...

I got some chocolates.

I LOVE sweet stuff

I also got something better than anything I can think of... I got my spirit back.

I don't know how... nothing comes close to this great feeling.

It has been a while I will say that.

Oh my hat it has been a while man

And above all else... it has been a while since I could feel again...

It has been a while man ... it has been a while

God loves me... it always did...

I am free...

I stretched myself beyond my means... I like that part.

God's speed my friends.

Merry Christmas to you all... and Merry Christmas to all the animals... all the ones great and small... all the ones young and bold... wonderful... and bald.

Merry Christmas and a Happy wonderful life to you all.

You have the key... every time.

"And it's been a while since I said I am sorry."

I received one odd gift this year. Naturally... my kids know I'm odd lol. I got a toy RC spy car. I can't see of it's value but it was sort of fun to play with. This car is controlled via a wifi connection between your android device and the car. You can go forward and reverse with two speeds and left and right. It has a couple of cameras on the car and it's picture shows up on your phone or tablet. One camera is b&w and the other is a night vision camera. You can cap a pic or a vid or just watch as you drive along. I fired it up, drove it out of the office and down the hall. Then through the living room, dinning room, and kitchen. As I headed into the utility room my dogs, completely freaked out, dashed out through the doggie door. All the while I was sitting here in the office with my feet up on the desk lol. Like I said.. no particular value but it was fun.

My family being together right now is the best gift I could've gotten. My husband, our daughter, her husband, and their two beautiful boys are all here. Words can't describe the joy of watching two very energetic grandsons laughing and playing and having fun.

Another gift is the [reluctant, on my part] transformation of my mom's room into a guest room. Pics from the day Mom died and now:

You may see my little princess, Joy Noelle, checking out the new bed.

Well, I must admit, I had a very interesting Holiday Season to date. I don't think I've ever experienced anything like this ever in my life.

I was one of the 200+ thousand people that had no power on Dec.22nd around 12:30am. Also discovered a tree branch took out my phone line (so no internet and landline phone). I finally got power back on Christmas Eve and ended up puking my guts out later that same day. My phone and internet just came back today after the tech patched and hooked the wire back.

On a side note, the power outage made it the most beautiful thing I have ever seen (trees literally covered in sheets of ice; from top to bottom). It was also very unnatural with all the trees literally being bent out of shape. Some even splintered at the trunk due to the excessive weight of the ice formations. The only fear was if the trees in our backyard will fall apart and come crashing down on the cars and/or the house. They were strained and you can see it. One branch was literally broken, but still clinging onto the main trunk a few feet over. It's hard to explain in words and pictures don't do it justice. It's one of those things where the experience was just undescribable.

Cold weather didn't help as it was dropping our house temps down to the single digits. Keeping warm was a challenge.

Stayed in bed all of Christmas with a low grade fever and severe chest pain. Liquid diet for the better part of the day.

My sister and mom were sick with the flu.

But in the end, I'm still thankful that I'm still here. I'm still recovering and not my full self yet. My sister and mom are still recovering too. I think this is one of the few times I am really thankful and appreciative of the life I have and how blessed I was during this time. There are still small pockets that have no power still.

Wow, glad things are getting back to normal and you are feeling better. At least you will have an interesting story to tell whenever somebody complains about having a crappy Christmas for years to come lol.

For my actual Christmas gifts, I recieved my 3 favorite Christmas movies from my daughter: Christmas with the Kranks, White Christmas, and It's a Wonderful Life.
From my husband, I had actually picked out my own Christmas gift about a week before, and that was a really nice exercise bike.
And last but not least...today as a belated Christmas gift, we ordered a really nice upgrade to my wedding rings, and as much as I love the current rings, I am rather excited to see the new set when it comes in next week. Last Christmas I upgraded my husband's wedding band to a nicer one, so I suppose it was my turn now. We have been married for 25+ years.
