If I post a link will you take a picture of the hulk smash and post it?

On to the EVO...

I'm looking forward to this phone as much as the next nerd, but I have to ask, is it really that great? Yes, it is a game changer, but there are a lot of sweet phones coming out this year. I keep seeing people saying they're going to drop their Heros, moments, and droids for it. These phones all came out less than a year ago so they will obviously be paying full price or early term fees. Why not wait until later in the year, have more options, and save money? Also, 4G isn't coming to more markets until later in the year and sprint has said they're going to have a lot of 4G phones coming out later this year too.

Obviously for those that are not under contract or are up for an upgrade it's a great option. I have a hero myself and will have a hard time waiting, but I think it will be worth waiting in the end. Even if that end is still getting the EVO.

Word. This topic is long overdue. Thanks mods for keeping the other one at least a little bit tidy.

I'm paying 3 months worth of early term fees to AT&T, but the early term fees are prorated, so it won't be much money, and my Sprint bill will be about $20/month cheaper, so even that money will be made up in about 2 months or less. Win win.

Honestly, I'd pay the full term fee just to get off of AT&T. Especially with the 3G iPads about to get on the network.

Personally, if I were in charge and a mod, I would immediately lock any and all future Ozcar linked threads that pop up, with a canned message saying why. That, and/or put up a locked sticky thread stating NOT to post links from that bloody site as the thread title, then a single simple post inside discussing why.

they actually could block the url on this site in the mod tools but it would have to be the highest lvl of mod

the only way i can think that they could make the evo better is to port it into my pocket via instant transmission

i think the official thread should only allow informative posts, especially by jackson, eieio, and...um...that other guy. or really, only posts with info on the evo or plans and pricing.

on another note, i need the evo asap. my current phone is doing funky things with the battery. like randomly overheating as if something is causing it to use the cpu to the extreme or short circuit the battery. this leaves my battery that was either full or with a decent charge to low battery levels. hopefully it won't burst into flames near my crotch.

so yea, why bother buying a new battery (if that's the problem) and just get a new phone instead? please release the evo already!

i think for every droid incredible sold is another evo sale lost. not that many people are willing to pay etf's ya know?

"Do you think it's bad because they would be competing with the iphone or b/c they're not competing with the incredible? "

Both because the Inc has gone to market and stolen a lot of potential customers, you've sacraficed your current customers and last you are placing all you hopes on stealing customers away from the i-phone.

Let me be clear I like Sprint and have been a customer for 10+ years. But they are making really hard to remain a customer. They have good service, pricing and plans but they are missing the boat entirely on the hardware and marketing sides of the business. All they have to do is get customers to try them out they will stay.

I agree completely with that last paragraph. I was with sprint for a while, had to switch to nextel for work, and now am back with sprint. I've never had a problem with phone service or customer service (I may have been with nextel during the dark years) but, ever since I started with sprint I've felt like my phones have alwasy been inferior to my friends phones. I think the EVO will change that.

I'm jsut not sure sprint wants to go head tohead with any good smart phones. By waiting they can let the incredible hype die off and get customers before the new iphone comes out.

HEHE, if it is not about getting customers, then why even say anything. That is not a good plan.

Some times the best way to see if you have a good plan is to place it into context with other plans.

Sprints wwII plan.

March 23 1944.

Dear Hitler

On June 6 1944 we, the allies forces, will invade the main land of Europe specifically at Normandy. You will know the invasion has began when we start to bomb you just after midnight on that above mentioned date and full land force will start just after 5:30am Berlin time.

We will use the following deployment:
1,213 warships
4,126 transport vessels
736 ancillary craft
864 merchant vessels.
175,000 men

We will attack on the 5 beach front, see attachments. We do expect to catch you off guard with a behind the front line airborne drop. But where is our little secret, but I can tell you the passcode is thunder/flash.

We do extend this letter to you and the rest of the military as a way to get the military industrial complexes attention, so you and they know that we are not just siting on your butts doing nothing. After all a good attack plan is one that everyone knows what is coming.

As you clearly see we have really plan this plan out. And just soo thrilled to attack you with this new plan.

I thought about the idea of fainting an attack with Patton into italy, to drawn you from west beach head is a clever move, but it is only a idea. If it starts to look like it will work. We will let you know in the next few months on any extra details.

Thank you for your time.
General H.

PS oh I forgot. The project is call overlord and neptune, so you can keep track off all the developments by the spy network.

PSS We also have plans for a Market Garden. Please stay tune for that.

PSSS we are now holding a contest to get the generals map to the invasion. If you would like to get one, just tell us what you can do really fast!

PSSSS We are holding an open screening of the general invasion plan on may 12.

PSSSSS We know have a cost damage analyzes of the invasion, please go to ozr for details.

PSSSSSSS and go to android forums for controled intel leaks.

PSSSSSSSS Sorry, forgot what I was going to say.

While I'm on my soap box. Can someone explain to me what the purpose of the NYC party is? I mean come on it's not like they are Apple with their drones that follow every little thing they do. Did I miss the V Incredible unvieling party? What am I missing. This event won't be covered by anyone except tech people. This release could end up being a white paper for marketing companies of what not to do. I thought they fired the Pre advertising agency.

What issue do you have, with Sprint teaming up with a new Disney, to leverage it for advertising & marketing purposes?

Sprint is fighting for life right now.

Regardless.

Enacting a plan in which you gain nothing, and lose everything is not a plan. It is what happens when plans fail.

If you do not gain any customers from the plan. And you give every detail to the enemies in time frame they can start changing plans to meet you.

You just gave them every tool to beat you, and gain nothing out of it.

That is a bad plan.

Can anyone make me an avatar with Donald Duck using an EVO? I would greatly appreciate it.

I'd love to see a photoshop of Hulk smashing an IPhone apart too.

Oh, and let me just say, I love the way you arrange your posts River, regardless of what you type, I always feel like I'm getting a story

Please read a history book.

Those 175,000 men took a 4 year old entrenched beach head.

Hilter had 350,000 men waiting for them. Including the 5th and 21th panzer. If Hilter would have even thought it was remotely going to happen. D-day would have failed soo badly that you would have lost all of the troops and equipment. It was a hail mary pass.

If hilter knew we where coming, it would have be a massacre. Instead, all his generals where out reach, and most of the defense was on leave.

He was expecting patton from the south, and russia from the east.

He had no clue the pain that was coming.

But look at this!

Apple does.

AT&T blocks employees vacations in June for iPhone launch Boy Genius Report

Instead of not knowing when the next attack is coming and where, ie verizon. Apple has this one in it sights.

Why do I care again? Oh right I don't, if I wanted to be a history major I wouldn't have wasted 4 years majoring in computer science. Now that said put your sarcasm hat on like a good little boy and stop taking everything in such a literal context.

As far as AT&T, sucks to be them I guess. I've heard too much Steve Jobs mambo-jumbo to even care anymore. As far as the cellphone revolutionary war, viva la revolucion!

I wanna say something. I'm gonna put it out there; if you like it, you can take it, if you don't, send it right back. I want an Evo NOW!

Even if sprint releases the EVO before the iPhone, it won't make any difference as we all know that thousands of overzealous apple suck-ups will even buy Steve Jobs's poo if he would sell it to them.

the iPhone will always out sell despite its inferiority (people bought the iPad for goodness sake). and even though apple seems to be pissing off more and more of their devs each day, it is hardily likely that the end consumer will even know/care.

although if apple keeps crap like this up (Apple Gets Nasty With Adobe Over Flash - PCWorld) they wont have many devs left soon...

i really do hope that the EVO gives apple a run for their money, but i think that is just wishful thinking at this point...
