OK those force closes are not attributed to the kernel.

So now the final step is very easy. We now need to delete an app that would normally brick the phone.

Such apps I can think of are google books and google videos which come in the form of a single app named videos.apk.

To delete this app, with any root explorer navigate to /system/app and delete videos.apk and videos.odex. Then reboot your phone. If all is well, your phone will boot up normally and we'll have confirmed success on the kernel.

Once you've done this, let me know.

Fantastic! You now have a fully working Kernel.

So now I'll start a new thread in a few minutes for the Kernel with all the details. When the thread is up, don't forget to swing by and click the thanks button. It's all I ask for in return for my time and work.

Thanks you for testing.

Ill be sure to thank the topic, and I enjoy testing things my only question is what is the next step to get a actual build of Clockwork recovery? and do you think now I would be able to flash the rom I made without getting status 7 error

OK it's now up....

[KERNEL][VS870]LOKI] Modded Unsecure Kernel

Now I have to test recovery for a similar phone and if it works for that one, then it'll work for this one. I'll keep checking in.

Your rom just needs some adjustments to boot. We'll cover that later on.

Sorry, I don't own this phone, so there's no troubleshooting I can really do without it.

You might have to check with the rest of the community in the non-root section to see if anyone else is having this issue or to troubleshoot it together.

So, now that we have a custom kernel and everything, is there anyone working on a rom? If not, where are some novice guides to whipping one in real quick? I would love a CM10 port but maybe something simpler to start? Any nudge in the right direction would be appreciated

Well, I guess if no one knows anything I'll just do it the hard way and figure it out, hopefully it won't take too long, lol. Google, here I come

So the Lucid 2 sections of the forums seem to be pretty dead lately.... Is there some way i can help get the ball rolling when it comes to making a rom?

I dont really know much but I am down to help any way I can.

We have github kernel from gametheory, and we have lucid 2 source from lg opensource center. take those and the cm source for 10.2 and start hacking away.

Do the phones have the same screen dimensions? I seem to remember that being a factor in porting roms... It's probably possible but if it is it's probably a lot of work and would probably take a considerable amount of android/linux knowledge... Also, since this phone isn't really popular you might not have much support if you got stuck.

I hope you can do it, I wish I could help more. If you get anything going I will be happy to test it. Good luck.http://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Main_Page

I am aware that it also matters about DPI and resolution... HOWEVER I found a work around for that on XDA.. Also thanks for the testing support I'm not worried about bricking I have bricked this phone more times then I can count I have a method of I unbricking I use everytime I have the stock firmware on my box account (in case they remove it from the websites) and a flashing program on my box account it flashes the .CAB file I even once deleted the whole ROM in cwm touch.. And the method worked. But I'm gonna do this I'm dying for my piece of the KitKat bar.. So I'll try everything I can to get as close as possible I dont think lg lucid 2 will be getting the official KitKat ever cause the lg lucid 1 is still on ICS .. And the lg lucid 3 came out with KitKat and after seeing the specs for lucid 3 and seeing the almost exactly same specs as lucid 2 I know its possible . I'll keep you updated on progress

Hope you can get it going, and am still happy to test if needed. Have bricked mine a bunch of times too and don't mind doing it again. Good luck and thanks for even attempting it.

if you need help with porting hit me up at jaclane299@gmail.com or jacobthetacomaster on skype.

updates on my rom build for this device: i managed to get everything to compile with no errors but it outputs the wrong system.img. aka the system.img has no ext4 filesystem.

"not impossible, but gonna take alot of work as it looks like the last rom put out for it was jellybean based? the internals arent that far apart, just used phenom's github work as a base and try to build instead of port. good luck!" -someone on the CyanogenMod thread

edit: lg spectrum seems to be a little further away hardware wise, that would be more work

Sooo... I think I'm gonna go with this game plan what do you think?

I have an idea for lucidian while my rom is being compiled. If we add libart.so and libart-compiler.so to system/lib with my flashable zip and do this modificiation adb - Manually switch from ART to Dalvik - Android Enthusiasts Stack Exchange (backwards of course) then we might be able to run art.

That sounds chill to me dude.
Also, I think we should find a better way to converse about this stuff. Like skype or google hangouts. I thought you were building the kernel and i was building the rom?

@lgrootnoob

I noticed you're including my kernel in your rom. I never gave anyone permission to include my kernel in any roms.

OK you can use my current kernel as long as you give me credit for it in your rom post, but do not use my rom in your project.

I just dropped the .lok in there cause i needed it to boot with apps removed.
Of course i was gonna credit you.

Also, can i ask how you built the build.prop and added all the keylayout files and extra libs?
Did you copy those from the stock rom?

The toolkit was only for capturing the dmesg and logcat of the rom. Your supposed to do that while it boots.

You can do your regular method of recovering. Which you gotta tell me about, cause it takes a genius to recover this phone. Does it use the lgmobilesupport tool? I remember using that to recovery my optimus u one time.

Anyways, im waiting for a response from GT ^ about all the extra stuff in the rom.

I also added you to my circles on g+, add me back mayne. At what time can i do a hangout with you? (btw, im gonna be with bad internet for a couple days cause we have to go see my grandma at the hospital in oklahoma. And im not taking any of my gear.)

Cool, but next time ask first if it's even ok to include someone's work in your project.

Yes, just grab a clean untouched stock rom and make all your mods/changes to it. Build.prop can be left as is or tweaked with any mods you're interested in.

Its the fact that you CANNOT get the drivers from box. You must get it from http://www.lg.com/us/support-mobile/lg-VS870
