Hmm, I'll have to PM Andy that the link isn't working and give him the one that does work.

Apparently the new resources page is:
Official LG Phone Forum

You should be able to download the driver from the MetroPCS link

Are you sure your device is in debug mode and the USB is set to mass storage and not as a modem?

Did it and this time I remembered to make sure that I had mass storage selected. It worked this time.

Hermm...

How long should it be at "daemon started successfully"? Been about 10 minutes and noticing nothing happening. Debug enabled, drivers up to date, running "run.bat" as admin on PC, etc.

scratch that, debugging only looked to be checked off while greyed out. thanks again to those of you helping out on these forums though

Have you got the phone in mass storage mode? I first tried to do this when it was in internet mode and that was the results. When you plug in your phone to the computer, and it asks you if you want to be in internet or mass storage mode, select mass storage.

I keep getting "ADB is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file batch" gggrrrr my phones not rooting and i'm follwing all of the necessary steps!!! I went into device manager and disabled the modem stuff. I dissabled the ADM stuff too. What am I supposed to do???!! H-E-L-P

So, try this out: shut down your computer and restart so you have a clean slate. When it's up and running, plug in the phone. You need to make sure that the phone is in mass storage mode and NOT in internet mode. As far as ADB, if it's not in the path, then you will get the error you indicate about unrecognized command. Just navigate the command line till you get to the dir that contains the *.exe you want to run. That will prevent the internal/external command error you were getting.

That's how it's supposed to work. Just make sure you are in mass storage mode and it will work. Or, at any rate, it did for me.

Default How to gain Super User permission for Root Explorer

Hi everyone. After much heart ache, I believe I was finally able to get my phone rooted. I have the LG Optimus M 2.2.1, which was purchased like 2 years, so the previous Ginger Break method worked for me, but then I accidentally deleted, LG Home.apk, and then performed a hard reset, so I lost complete access to everything. After updating the drivers on my pc and updating the phone completely from the LG website, I was able to get it working again, but then the Ginger Break method no longer worked. I then found this thread and used the optimusmplus_root_windows method and everything seems to have worked out fine. The problem I have now, is I'm trying to use Root Explorer, but it's not prompting me to give it Super User Access. I want to be able move apps from the phones internal memory to the SD Card, but I'm unable to do so, without Super User permission. Once again, I used the optimusmplus_root_windows.zip, and once it was completed, the phone seems to be rooted,.I have Root Explorer installed, but when I try to move a file, I can't because I need to set it to RW instead of RO and it won't let me change the read-write method without SU permissions. Any ideas on how to do this? And how do I know if my phone is been fully rooted? Thanks in advance.

Well, what have you done? If you read and do exactly as stated, it will work. You do need to be in mass storage mode though; I tried it twice in internet mode and it didn't work.

Before starting, be sure you have the latest LG drivers. One way to do this is to connect the phone before doing any of this and let your computer do the new hardware found stuff. If that doesn't pop up you should be good.

Or go to the LG Website and download the newest driver

Optional: Download a reboot app to your phone (Quick Boot is what I have.) In my personal experience (I haven't heard anyone else say this) my phone got stuck on the last reboot and I couldn't get the power button to bring up the power down menu. I removed the battery and plugged it back in, booted up the phone and everything was dandy. Having Quick Boot would've made this easier and made me not worry about pulling the battery, though it worked out.

1. Download and unzip the optimusmplus_root_windows.zip file attached below.

2. On your phone, go to Settings > Applications > Development and be sure that USB Debugging is checked.

2. Plug your OM+ into your computer, and unplug any other phones you might have plugged in.

3. Locate the folder you unzipped from step 1, and run run.bat.

4. Sit back and let it do it's thing. Your phone should reboot 3 times. If you're stuck on the reboot after "Cleaning up..." reboot your phone using Quick Boot.

5. Enjoy your rooted phone!

6. If you haven't already, head over to the Bump up your networks speeds thread and boost your data service (if you're noticing really... really slow speeds, like <0.20mbps )

7. If you like this post, hit the Thanks button

Yes it still works (pretty sure since there haven't been any OS updates). There aren't but a couple, or maybe it was only one, ROM 's for this phone. If you look in the all things root you will find it; something about Optimus Prime maybe. I can't remember. I think most folk that had this phone have moved on, including me. I'm now using the LG Motion 4G.

You are welcome. Yeah, I liked the phone. It was pretty smooth for and 800mhz processor. Aside from root and recovery that the fine folks from the unloved devices group got us, there just wasn't any development on the phone. I moved on 'cause I wanted to get a 4G phone.

Thank you SO much for this! I just bought the phone today and the first thing I wanted to do was root it. I love you. I love you...I LOVE YOU.
