Alrighty, so there've been some nice advances already in this relatively new phone. Here's a small guide to help
Before starting, be sure you have the latest LG drivers. One way to do this is to connect the phone before doing any of this and let your computer do the new hardware found stuff. If that doesn't pop up you should be good.
Or go to the LG Website and download the newest driver
Optional: Download a reboot app to your phone (Quick Boot is what I have.) In my personal experience (I haven't heard anyone else say this) my phone got stuck on the last reboot and I couldn't get the power button to bring up the power down menu. I removed the battery and plugged it back in, booted up the phone and everything was dandy. Having Quick Boot would've made this easier and made me not worry about pulling the battery, though it worked out.
1. Download and unzip the optimusmplus_root_windows.zip file attached below.
2. On your phone, go to Settings > Applications > Development and be sure that USB Debugging is checked.
2. Plug your OM+ into your computer, and unplug any other phones you might have plugged in.
3. Locate the folder you unzipped from step 1, and run run.bat.
4. Sit back and let it do it's thing. Your phone should reboot 3 times. If you're stuck on the reboot after "Cleaning up..." reboot your phone using Quick Boot.
5. Enjoy your rooted phone!
6. If you haven't already, head over to the Bump up your networks speeds thread and boost your data service (if you're noticing really... really slow speeds, like <0.20mbps )

Just did mine following this, couldn't have been easier. Had to do it twice for some reason as it didn't work the first time. Second time went perfectly.

I just got the phone yesterday and was frustrated that GingerBreak did not work.
I found this post...and it was AWESOME!!! Unfortunately, I had to wait until I got home because I work for the Federal Gov't and they like to play "big brother" with the computer system. lol
I had NO PROBLEMS rooting at all! This morning, I boosted my data signal to (almost) 4G speeds.
Thanks for posting this. You are a major stress reliever! lol
If you have ADB running already, close that it might cause a conflict. Then just follow the instructions in the first post. Its fairly straightforward.

You should still be able to see a file called "Run"
And you probably opened it with the regular windows file explorer, you still must unzip it because it is a zip and things do not run properly when it is zipped.

Right-click the downloaded zipped folder, select "Extract All" and Windows will extract the files into a new folder in the same location (downloads folder, desktop or wherever you have it). Then open that folder and you should see all the files, open run.bat.
If you still don't see it then it's possible the download was incomplete or corrupt, try downloading it again.
I did follow the steps. The first time I tried I didn't work and I retry all the steps again. The second time I got stuck in the start loop. So I tried to run the RUN file again. Now I just get till the point when it says: "link failed file exists". I've been trying many times. Using the hard reset button combination too (which brings the phone to the default state). Some help?
Aghhhhhh! 9 days, still can't get even ONE recovery to boot into Boot Recovery. What gives?
I think I need a simple "flash_image" file and "recovery.img" to use.
here are my adb cmds:
I can almost 99% guarantee you that that is a terrible idea, it probably doesn't have any of the same mounting points or partition stuff so it probably wouldn't do you any good

Yea and what did flashing the ov's cwm get ya?? same principle, a boot.img does not make a rom. Yes it may boot, but the majority of shyt isnt gonna work. You got lucky with the og om as its real close to the ov. What I have seen of the om+ its a all new device with only slight better specs, like its cpu is out of a lil bit better fail bin. It will surprise me if it oc's past 1Ghz, if that.

Ov's cwm got me a fastboot, its a lot harder to port a recovery than a rom, and I know there's other files besides the boot.img to replace, I have an entire thread of files saying what to replace, I would just like to see if this works the same way it did with the V/S

porting a prebuilt CWM is dumb and unneeded as the src is available to do it correctly.
And yea the method you talk about for the roms will be possible, its dirty porting and with the time it takes to even do that you could config n build CM7 from src.

But hey, to each their own lol.
I wanted to bring ROMs here by porting, not the other way around lol, I finally got MIUI working with your MMS fix. Everything works in functionality...some extra settings menus FC, but other than that it all works fine
And BACKside has been working, it's the most up to date ROM we have from CM7 source.
If I can figure out how to port OM+ to the OM, then I can easily get it working the other way around.
But yea, I'll probably need a CM7 built for this phone first to bring it here.

did you download the latest USB drivers? also, try closing any adb.exe running with task manager and try again. Also, make sure you don't have other phone devices plugged in while you're doing this

Ok, well, I had some time this morning before my service calls so I tried to do the root on my phone. I'm not quite sure what happened but during the last reboot phase, I got that there were more than one device attached, as well as another error (unfortunately, I closed out the dos box before I started this post so can't remember what it was). Now, the end result was that my phone didn't get rooted and I lost all sound. I had to do a factory reset and got my sound back. I plan on trying this again, but for now I am reloading all my apps.

Ok, I tried it again this evening and got the same results, although this time it got into a boot loop. I did think to get a screen shot of the dos prompt.

Notice that it mentions more than one device/emulator. This is the only phone I have plugged in. If anyone has any ideas that'd be great and helpfull.

I'm not sure right off hand what virtual modem you might be talking 'bout. Unless it's one of the drivers installed when I installed the LG driver? I'll look at it when I have some time later. Thanks.
Be sure your phone is in USB Debug mode (Settings > Applications > Development) and be sure the USB is set to Mass Storage as opposed to Internet connection (Settings > Connectivity)
Also, be sure no other instances of adb.exe are running in your Task Manager (I'm assuming you have windows)

I think the mass storage/internet connection is the problem. I've had mine in internet connection mode each time. I will retry this with the connection in mass storage mode next time ('course I'm working both my jobs today and will get home tonight around11:30 just exhausted so it probably won't be today).
Oh, so why should out be in ms instead of internet mode? When in im, my phone displays the debug symbol so that's why I was using internet mode. When I'm in ms mode I don't get the debug symbol.

Go to Official LG Phone Forum and download the drivers for MetroPCS. Install the drivers and plug your phone in, wait for windows to configure the drivers and start run.bat

Hi everybody. I'm new to these forums and would appreciate some help here.
LG's website seems to have removed driver downloads for the LG Optimus M+ (LG MS695). Where do I go from here? :/
nvm, found the driver I needed here: Official LG Phone Forum, followed the OP's instructions, and rooted my phone. Easy-peasy. Worked like a charm on the very first try. Thanks!

There appears to be a problem with the link. When I click on it, I'm taken to an LG Web page for the original I'm, and nothing about the USB drivers. I searched around and can't find them on lg's site (for the MS695).
