Default [ROM] ICS/CM9 m835

iwas curious yesterday and decided to look up...
well, it seems the guys over at XDA are all the way up to ICS on the ideos u8150. feeling lucky, i flashed the latest beta 2 updated and and it worked. google cm9 u8150 and maybe some one might dirty port it over or whatever...
no data or signal but everything seems to be OK. no a2sd, either

nope but im pretty sure that one of the geniuses here might b able2 figure something out. at least b4 i figure how 2do it myself.
it takes a shit ton of memory, tho cuz with no a2sd, total of 49.8 BYTES remain free out of 179mb internal
and on top of all that' it HAS to b flashed with CWM 5. bla bla bla

I am currently on a m835 and I got Data, Calling, MMS, SMS all to work.
Also got the Memory to a bare low, you have to install the APN manually and it is a pain, other than that all that really needs to be fixed are Wifi and Bluetooth, unless that was fixed in this version, in that case I can just combine the ROM I customized with this ROM.

Also this thread looked dead. So I bumped it.

I will, I have to bundle it with APN Backup and Restore.

Before you go to install this backup your APN with the app.

Then Install the backup, after done installing it should have APN backup installed already, if it doesn't I there will be a built in File Management app installed. (whoever made this didn't include one and frustrated me to high hell).

Will do shortly.

So as i am going though ICS everything is going to go okay, When i finally hit a snag, you cannot install your APN with an 3rd Party App.

So when you guises download this and install, DO NOT WIPE YOUR DATA AND CACHE.

I Repeat

DO NOT WIPE YOUR DATA AND CACHE, DELETE DALVIK CACHE AND THAT IS IT.

Now here is your link.

update-cm-9-20120217-MADTEAM-U8160-signed.zip

Step-By-Step Here

If you do have root (Which you probably do) and you are running Froyo (Which you probably are) you need to download the ROM from PG's Wiki page, then when done with that go to android market and install ROM Manager.

Open up ROM Manager and get pass the impassable ADS OF DEATH, and it should ask you for you to install a clockrecovery and it should show up as U8160 (This is basically the m835 with a different name), install it.

Now hook the USB cord up to your computer (or if you downloaded the ROM from your phone skip this skip), enable USB Mode, and drag the ROM (in the .zip form) into the root of your SD Card.

Put your phone out of USB Mode, and go back to ROM Manager, click Install ROM from SD Card, It should open up a browser with your SD Card contents on it, go down to cm7 or whatever the ROM name was. and click install.

When this is clicked it will ask you if you want to:
*Backup Existing ROM
*Wipe Data and Cache
*Wipe Dalvik Cache

Click *Backup Existing ROM and *Wipe Dalvik Cache, you need a backup of whatever system you are using just in case something happens or you just want to go back to it.

It should ask you if you are sure you want to reboot in recovery and install the ROM, say yes.

It should reboot in recovery and automatically start going to work in recovery, towards the end of the operation you should get an error saying *sd-ext was not found, skipping backup of this.* This is normal and you shall ignore the living hell out of it.

After getting done with the backup it should start to actually install the ROM, you should get the same error about the sd-ext, once again this is normal.

After that your ROM should finish installing and it should reboot with your new ROM!!!!!!

The new ROM is going to take about 2 or 3 minutes to boot so don't worry.

Just set it up from there~

Also if you need gapps just holla @ me.
What's not working:
Wifi
Bluetooth
......
That's actually just about it.

You should get a system isn't responding at the beginning after your phone boots.
That's normal Force Close it and your phone will continue.

*Note: This was for the u8160 which is the vodaphone model. It's tweaked obv. but still there you go.

Not Responsible for what this does to your phone. Ever. Don't come after me if it does something.

EDIT: I put u8150 not u8160.
EDIT: Added Disclaimer.

1. It runs great after you get done getting rid of the all the *.*.android is not responding things.
2. yes there is an improved kernal that goes up to 748 mhz, freezes after that.
3. Everything.
4. so so, they used half of the ICS UI and half CM UI.
5. Yes. You do, if you need a link i can provide that.
6. 748 Mhz, but can go up to 800 or something like that.
7. I just toild you how to do that. -_-
8. Thank you

Well if you wipe everything you APN will be gon with it so you can't call or text.

you might want to go back to the old one seeing how this one is unstable.

For weird cursor we mean that in order for the touch screen to recognize what we are touching there is a "cursor' in the shape of a circle, that performs that same way a mouse pointer on a computer works. And in order to press on something else like to go through settings or anything, you have to move the cursor and have what you want to be pressed in the middle of the cursor's shape and then it will be pressed. This is very hard to navigate through the phone since we can't just touch on an item and it work, we have to move the cursor to the item and then press anywhere on the touchscreen for it to work. Is there a way to disable this maybe?

For the people that have the weird cursor that I am not getting at all.

1.Download the rom.
2.Depending on what you are running you may need to get a u8150/u8160 recovery. (Will post later)
3. Create a backup in cwm.
4. In cwm wipe data/factory reset, delete dalvik cache too.
5. START THE OLD ROM YOU ARE USEING FIRST.
6. Let the old rom set up.
7. Reboot into cwm and flash over cm9
You're ready

*DO NOT WIPE DATA AFTER/RIGHT BEFORE INSTALLION, YOU WILL NOT HAVE DATA/MMS/SMS AND I AM TO TIRED TO GET WIFI WORKING WITH THIS.
Hope this helps.

How the hell does ICS run on this phone? It can barely handle 2.3.x Oh, by the way, BUMP.

-EDIT- I tried to flash this over, gave me a bunch of junk and error in zip folder. Status 7, install aborted.

I also tried to flash in ROM Manager, says I need different recovery, no 835 or 8150/60 in list.

I dunno, LOL but I tried. Did I do something wrong?

Maybe that's why I can't get it to flash LOL... I'm running 3.0.0.5 CWM. What version of CWM 5 will work on the 835?

What's not working:
Wifi
Bluetooth
......
That's actually just about it.

You should get a system isn't responding at the beginning after your phone boots.
That's normal Force Close it and your phone will continue.

*Note: This was for the u8160 which is the vodaphone model. It's tweaked obv. but still there you go.

Not Responsible for what this does to your phone. Ever. Don't come after me if it does something.

EDIT: I put u8150 not u8160.
EDIT: Added Disclaimer.
For future reference you could use HugeFiles.net - Cloud storage for your HUGE Files it allows you to upload a max of 5 GB per 1 file...

Already tried that MIUI ICS a month ago. It runs HORRIBLE!!! But it does boot and touch screen works. I don't think 835's 149 MB of RAM can handle it

i don't have my original m835, but im prolly getting another one for chits n giggles.
when i DID have it nstarted this thread, i flashed CM9/ICS THEN flashed DT's A2SD script in the same recovery session.
id imagine that now with V6 supercharger by zeppelinrox latest it might hold its own.
