Don't know how to root the Wal-Mart ZTE Avail Z990G

I need help trying to root my Avail Z990G, I'm just trying to get off the bloatware stuff and that's all I want to do. I have no clue on how to root or what to do. I've hacked my wii before to play all the stuff, so I know how to do something when given the information. I just don't know what I need or what I need to type to get this thing rooted. Thanks in advance for any help.

Oh and it would be nice to move pre-installed apps like facebook over to the SD card

Unfortunately this tutorial only works for the Z990, not the Z990G. In all technicality, the Z990G is called the ZTE Merit, but is virtually the same as the Z990 (ZTE Avail). They must have patched up the exploit to gain root as none of the tutorials on here work for the Merit. I have tried everything I could find.

My ZTE is a roamer, but is in fact equivalent to avail with less ram and Android 2.3.5

I have tried, but it appears to do nothing on the Fastboot step. Ive turned the phone completely off, and turned it on again holding the home button with volume down, nothing. Tried home button and volume up, nothing. Tried home button and both volume buttons, nothing. Ive done the same, but holding the buttons after its turned on and it initially vibrates, but nothing. I am not sure what Fastboot does, but it appears to change or do nothing to my phone if I have done it.

FASTBOOT =MENY +VOLUME DOWN, no home +volume down.

That starts the phone normally, but in the bottom left of the screen it says "Safe mode"

MENU + VOL UP is recovery
MENU + VOL DOWN is safe mode
haven't got fastboot yet.

I have a ZTE Merit z990g Straight Talk from Walmart and have been able to root it. A developer Justin Case has provided a solution on the XDA Devlopers site. Go to h t t p: // forum xda-developers com/showthread.php?p=27629905#post27629905 for the solution.
