Yes, the carrier IQ is nonexistant. But just in case you want to see it in black and white on your device (actually it pops up in green)...

One question:
On the basis of which this ROM is made?
Because no one of the ROM based on a U.S.
ROM does not work in Europe. Actually
sms center does not work.

This is built off of 2.3.5 from a stock z990g

Do you have a stock (or close to stock) nandroid for your device? If you do or we can find one, I will compare the differences between the two. It is likely that this would allow me to create a European version of this ROM, possibly solving the sms issue.

Hey James, feel free to use MH-1.0.1E as a base for the European version . And I told you it was a slippery slope into the rabbit hole. Glad to see another developer pick up the Merit after mine died (still need to replace that).

based on VIP serba ROM. But it does not
work the camcorder, but everything

the ROM-based VIVO Brazil but failed.
Here's a link to this topic and you have it
all links to the VIP and VIVO ROMs.
If you want I'll send you a link with my
backup VIP end VIVObrazil stock, I also
used for a long time.

[ROM] MH-1.0B and MH-1.0E

Set the link becouse, I do not would like to bring
to the topic of your ROM. You have all the
necessary links. Contact pm me to pm if
you want backup my ROM.
I'll try your ROM and let you know if work
sms.
Sorry for bad english.

Hey zajchik, get into this file: /system/build.prop, then edit the following line: change media.stagefright.enable-record=false to media.stagefright.enable-record=true. That should fix your video issue .

So it is confirmed to run on the Net 10 merit as well, is that correct?

The V6 scripts will work with this rom but you need to take some extra steps, I made sure that a compatable busyox version is present, but will have to probably have to make some manual smali edits to make it run. You may get an error from the script saying that the values have already been applied, but this is due to the fact that the applied build.prop changes were taken directly from that script.

Does this have Go Launcher? I like my app badges in it, being spoiled by my ipad, and I'd hate to replace whichever launcher is in this one throwing the look off as a result. Does this have plugin for notifications like the normal go launcher does? Says pro whatever difference that makes up top.

You are free to delete the themed launcher I have included in the ROM, and replace it with your favorite launcher app. Certain Go launcher themes will obviously look better than others over the modified framework of this ROM, but other than that, the changes to the overall look will be minimal. The modded version of launcher Pro really only contributes the matching dock icons and small apk size. (about a quarter of the size of go launcher) The theme mods you see are integrated right into the Framework and User Interface of the OS, so these theme mods in my ROM do not take up system resources in order to be present on your phone. Go launcher themes are completely seperate apps take up your precious internal memory. My mods work by altering the files already on your phone.

I doubt it. You can give it a shot, but I dont recommend it.

Camera issues are confirmed, but the bug seems to be in the app, i had a copy of retro cam that I just installed onto my device and everything worked fine. Ill look more into it.

Hi jamespfassett.
I've installed your rom and the problem with the
SMS in it there. I have a problem with camera too, but I installed UCAM and it works great.
Fonts are very difficult to read and should be
changed. Launcher works very well, and I iinace
MH-1.1e also set it as the default. I have a problem
with GALERIE that shows no picture, so I changed
it. Maybe you're too filled system memory, and I
would put the app such as maps, dolphin, calculator
and some more, to be installed later as a user on
sdext partition. Blue theme I really like it and it's
good.

After a little poking around, Im pretty sure that the camera effects app really doesnt like the system app partition, The solution seems to be converting it to a user app via Link2SD, this will allow you to keep the app and its editing functions. You will notice that most of the market camera apps are much larger in size.

@Zajchik, You are right I suppose. Being the first one I made, I did get a little selfish, configuring it to my tastes with fonts and apps that might not be the best ones for the job, but are just the apps that I happen to use.
However I left Link2SD in there for anyone who would like to remove those system apps in favor of the apps that work best for them. In hindsight I also should have left the stock gallery app in. The extra space it takes up is worth it.

I will make v1.1 with more of a "themed clean slate" mentality, allowing for easier and faster user customization.

Personally the only thing that stops me from flashing this ROM is the fact that it comes pre-installed with software that I have no desire to use. Sort of reminds of why I rooted my phone to begin with.. To get rid of pre-installed junk. Props for the job well done though.

I know I could simply remove them once flashed.. but still. It should be a clean minimal install to be considered a "slimmed down" version of the original stock ROM.

Fear not, version 1.1 willbe ready in about an hour.... This version will be basicly themed empty space. since that seems to be the biggest gripe.

If you do happen to flash this rom, make sure to compare the space you used to have with the space you have now, I would venture to say that it has been slimmed considerably.

I configured v1.0 for my tastes, as I habitually take care of #1 (me) first. V1.1 will cater to everyone else

EDIT v1.1 is available, same link, same install procedure, only now you can expect 149mb free for user apps (91% free) and 68 mb free for system apps (31% free)

...Already plotting for the next attack...

Im really just thinking out loud here, after doing some more homework Im finding all kinds of things that I want to include in SpeedFreak 1.2...

...built in init.d support will mean that the 99supercharger scripts by zepplinrox and the Dalvik Relocation script written by our very own Motorhead will run on boot.

...Increasingly extensive themeing will help put more distance between the look of SpeedFreak and its Gingerbread building blocks... As the saying goes, Gimpin' aint easy, but its nessasary. Or somthing like that.

...Possible ramdisk swap?

I tried to update the wife on all of this, she bootlooped for a minute, but eventually pulled out of it. Im not sure I really like being called a developer. It just sounds so formal. I picture a guy in a lab coat sitting at a desk, and here I am wearing a pair a pajama pants and smokin a jay... It just doesnt fit... lol

I work on my bed in the dark :P. And for the dalvik script, ypu may want to tweak it some. Add 99 to the name and maybe add the sleep command as the first action, that will keep the system from freaking out.

I think it's the nature of the hardware. My Avail did that all the time.

this only happened to me twice. and that was before i rooted. i think it had something to do with the power button. cause the two times it happened were when my phone was upside down in my pocket for an extended period of time.

hasn't happened since. if it were a hardware issue it would be more prevalent...

i know it may be asking for much, but it would be cool if you can continue to release modified themes as well.

i just don't need a rom for my phone ;-) but your styling is sweeeeet.

Honestly... now that I'm getting "into the thick of it" (meant to be read; Zajchik is about to start testing speedfreakeuro.beta) Some mindless themeing sounds nice.

Im totally planning the taking the speedfreak theme a lot closer to the edge of non-Gingerbreadism, its actually the best way Ive found to make my mark on the widest range and highest total number possible of devices out there. (meant to be read; Marketing Strategy) I can do lots of things that UOT kitchen is just not capeable of yet. There are a lot of talented developers out there, and my clumsy mechanics fingers just cannot keep up. Themeing might be the only way to go.

EDIT - Oh I forgot to address Nicdalzell's question. While I was making and testing this ROM I ran it pretty hard and I never had the random reboot issue either. It could be your hardware as well. You could try flashing the ROM and just watching to see if it fixes the problem. Do you happen to have it in one of these cases?...

Because I have one and it gets hot in there, somthing like that could also cause weird shit to happen. Ive drawn up the plans for retrofitting this handset with a liquid injected intercooler, but lets face it... its kind of a bush-league phone to begin with.

P.S. Im really just joking about the intercooler...

Being a mechanic has nothing to do with it :P. I'm not a programmer by trade, I'm actually a diesel mechanic.

As for your ROM, it's looking good, and my tweak added in should help .

Try a virus/malware scanner too, If you do a lot of non-market downloading, youre system might have fleas...

This Just In, SpeedFreakEuro v1.0 has been tested and found to be 100% functional. Im applying the O.G. speedfreak theme, and soon after that I will make the official release.

Big Ups to Motorhead for his MH1.1E, and Brohn for his VIVO Brazil port, It was these two roms that I combined with a modified boot.img from SpeedFreak1.0 to make it all mesh. The framework is quite a bit different the OG SpeedFreak ROM so themeing will take a second, but the important part is... IT WORKS!!!

Glad to hear it worked out for you . I've been wondering if the kernel effects MMS as of late, as I've helped in the struggle of a stubborn RIL layer.

My next project...

Im going to mod the Blue theme much more extensively and also if anyone has any other color sugestions, I'd love to hear them. Blue isnt for everybody, but I would certainly build a few more of these custom themes in various colors if I could get a feel for what everybody wants... so let me know.

It would certainly be possible, ill have to play around with it, I do know that white pixels take a lot more power to maintain than dark ones, but other than that, I dont see a problem.

Perhaps I spoke too soon, this guy is claiming that it a rumor from the old CRT screens, and on newer lcd screens, white pixels actually draw less power, but its so small we would never notice.

http://www.seanmichaelragan.com/html/[2009-03-26]_Power_use_of_white_vs_black_screens_in_LCDs_and_C RTs.shtml

I think a white on black theme would be rad, super high vis.

You just reminded me of the teachings of socrates and I had to check it out. Question everything

Yeah, there are many ways to change it, apps and such, or change it by making a uot theme with just a font change, or any other custom mods you may want.

i managed to get the 'incompatible' apps to sideload properly, apparently the problem is Google Play itself, not a specific ROM afterall. build.prop hacks to make the market think your phone is something it isn't got patched after Android Market became Google Play from what i am reading

So far this ROM seems perfect. it is fast booting, good on battery life (had the phone on constantly screen awake playing with it for hours and still had 71% in the end) and it HAS NOT EVER phantom booted yet. whatever you did to the kernel it works perfectly. even with my preferred launcher and apps it is speedy, stable, even when overclocked. and boots FAST! great job!

EDIT: it also recharges fast. 15 minutes it went from 59% to fully charged. also, i have noticed the phone model in settings is changed to ZTE Hotrod. is that an actual ZTE model you used the stuff from or is that just creative license?

EDIT2: added, whatever you did to this ROM to eliminate the 'low space' notification and lack of sync, that's great! it never shows up and i always get my syncs to work--tested to 10MB left.
