One more question. My wifi on the status bar grays out after a while of inactivity. The only way I can get it back to blue is if I restart the phone. I even tried to turn my wifi off then back on and it still grey. Its the same thing is happening with my 3G. I thought my data was caped but when I restart my phone i have data for a while. Is it a power saving setting in my phone?

grey icons (ICS style) mean you lost the connection to Google services. in GB they are usually green when ok but turn to white when lost. when properly working and connected to Google they turn blue in ICS or in ICS themes. grey is ugly for no go but you still have data, but Google stuff like sync, updater, and voice search will not work. market or Play store will work though

i'm going to give this one a try. i just installed the real ICS on my Fire again and was pretty satisfied this time (bare bones vanilla) so now i think i can get used to it. seems GB is getting old for me even! the only thing i would like is to change the blue to green. for some reason electric blue hurts my eyes

I don't know if it was coincidence or what but I reloaded the Ice
Cream Dream and I haven't lost connection to Google yet. Just throwing it out there.

Great work if I haven't said that already. way better than that stock ROM!

i lose connection to Google Services a lot. it's pretty random. last night all downloads, even through the web browser ended in 'download unsuccessfull' instantly. then the icons went grey. this was on my Kindle Fire running ICS. i didn't check my phone but i expect this is just a common event. it is one reason i use email.apk instead of gmail, (also because it does all my accounts in one place, vs. having separate apps for yahoo, gmail, etc) and why i use other contact apps because i don't have to rely on Google Sync

EDIT: Disregard bug report. i got the play store working again...BTW even with 1/3 the apps i had before on my own ROM, i seem to be left with little over 15MB left. the low disk space icon can't be disabled, my SQlite trick doesn't work here. so now that bloody icon is up top and my sync is dead. i seem to have had half the internal storage i had before. good news? i can install apps below the 15MB threshold without the 'insufficient storage available' error.

quick suggestion, is there a way to incorporate the swipe-away notifications menu that is part of ICS in the notification area? i'm starting to get used to that on one of my tablets which runs the real ICS and having some of its features. i am not sure if that is possible but it would add to the authenticity. also, i added ICS Locker since it is more true-to-ICS IMO, also ICS Launcher too.

Jay Mms works great. I send pic messages all the time. Bluetooth should work fine. But I don't is it personally. I left an app I wanted to delete just to keep it. So if you use it, let me know so I can tell others.

Nick, that's one of the things I've been working on for a bit. Mostly there.

Glad people are liking it.

I suggest using ICS Launcher instead of holo, and ICS locker. Seems to look more like the real deal IMO

Fookin A!

Finally got the obnoxious swipe to remove notifications to work. Today was honestly the last day i was going to try it. I had enough of it. Then finally after one last tweak I got it going. I'm back to being hyped up about this again, so expect an updated release this week sometime.

New name, cuz i thought of it a couple weeks ago and was mad I didn't use it, but decided I would change it if I got some of these new mods going.

How about replacing the stock lock screen with an ICS style one? Would this work as a /system/app?

Apps don't replace. They sit on top of. People can get them off the market if they want. The holo locker was pretty good.

Everything I'm adding I built into it. Not apps

Problem I had was having the stock lock screen show up on top of holo locker or under it which forced me to use ICS Locker instead. Perhaps disabling the stock lock screen entirely to avoid conflict? Even a themed GB lock screen is still a GB lock screen. Kinda breaks the authenticity

Ok so I keep on trying to add new things and keep putting off releasing this, but I figure you guys deserve an awesome ROM so im realeasing this version. Stable as ever. Way beyond what ICD was.

If you liked it before you will love it, if not maybe you will like it now.

Default Help Please!!!

I need help installing the ice cream scamwich rom. I usually don't have problems with roms but mine get stuck on the att boot screen. I followed the directions perfectly but this rom just won't cooperate. Any help is appreciated.

Theme update- ThemeUpdate.zip

A little theme update and fixed play store search issue.(not a whole rom, you need 1.5 for this to even work)

Oh i also added ICS camera, because I got panorama working. And how awesome is panorama on a $80 phone? i also still like MIUI camera for the burst mode which is awesome for kids or animals and moving stuff. So it is up to you to delete which ever one you want. try em out and let me know which one I should keep.

after the 50th retry i got it to download from Mediafire. this one makes the old one seem downright primitive! quick question, will future releases require us to wipe our data (and reinstall everything) or can we just apply it like an update.zip and keep what we got?

You could prob get away with not wiping data and keep everything. But its not guaranteed and I can't troubleshoot a million random issues..

Try Googling your exact error. See if anyone else has it. It might be one of the sign out sign back in things.
Maybe clear the cache. Mines been fine.

If that don't work let me know.

Good deal.

Since I've already twice almost accidently erased my whole sdcard, I decided to remove to the option from settings. You could still do it in CWM if you had to erase it for some reason.

Actually, you can still get it the long way through Privacy option.

Hey guys.

been a little while, but v2 is here. Go back to the first post and enjoy.

i added lidroid toggles, fixed settings shortcut, polished up the look added some more ics clock and widget stuff, etc.

i also added a zip with the stock apps, so if you want something I deleted, its in there or at the play store.

My phone with live wallpapers.

Everything form this rom is great but the bluetooth and wifi are buggy and i found out its because of the removal of some of the stock apps. I removed the music player app and the gallery app from another rom and it caused the samething. Slow bluetooth response time and eventually crashes the bluetooth just wanted to ask if anyone else has the same problem. Also just putting back the stock apps didn't fix it i guess it needs to come with them

removing the stock gallery app and stock music app WILL NOT cause issues on the phone.

your issues are coming from somewhere else. those apps have nothing do with wifi and bluetooth, or any other important service.

what causes such issues is most commonly incorrect permissions or edited / deleted files

OK guys and gals.

So I've officially dug my apk multi-tool out of its dusty folder and got back to work on redoing some apks.

I have a few things in mind im working on, got the dumb google apps all sorted out, added pngs for the brightness toggle, etc.

But i wouldn't mind anyone's suggestions on what i should work on.

not saying I'm going to do every idea, but it'd be cool to hear what people are looking for.

Thanks

couple random battery tips.

The music player has a lot of fancy built in functions(sync album artworks, shake to change song, etc.) Turn all those off in music player settings to save some juice.

Also, dolphin browser has the Sonar feature you may or may not be aware of. basically, you shake your phone and the voice search comes up. Go into more, settings, gesture and sonar, sonar tab, turn it off. That saves a good amount.

Still working on the 2g3g thing, and screenshot, in between making apps and reviewing other peoples apps. Busy busy.

Hopefully some nice update coming soon, I'll keep you up to date.

what kernel are you using? Just asking cuz last I knew his roms didnt move to the sd automatically.

Link2sd is easy though. just download it then open it. It will ask for what type of partition you got, then you reboot and it will link to it. then you can multi select what apps you want and create a link to your partition.

Link2sd is easy though. just download it then open it. It will ask for what type of partition you got, then you reboot and it will link to it. then you can multi select what apps you want and create a link to your partition.

not that his move the items, but when you install one of Stayboogy's roms (usually) it sets up the sd-ext to be usable, then when you install your apps, they go into the sd-ext partition . no muss no fuss :>

So you flash ROM, then new installed apps automatically go onto the Ext? Good deal. I used his a while back and I'm guessing they changed since then.

I knew he used his dalvik to dev script which frees up a ton of space. I'll have to give him a shout one of these days.

Just install AreaRom first AreaRom RELEASE for Z990 - Android Area51
Then install ics2.0 over it and you will have, what they call "big data" I have 3gig partitioned off for apps. It works great.

This is by far the most stable and nicest ROM I've used on my merit! But I have one issue. When bluetooth is on the dialer is very slow to dial. Sometimes it takes so long to actually dial I get a not responding error. With bluetooth of I hit a contact and it dials immediately like it's supposed to. Any ideas?

It is missing. I've been trying to find a Livewallpaperpicker that works. but they either don't install or just crashes when I try to use it.

I took it out but put up some stock apps most of the way down in the first post

Ive included some apps from the Stock merit (live wallpaper, etc). Ive installed wallappers, books and a couple others. Anything not here you can get at the play store.

This is NOT CWM flashable. download it, unzip and put the apps you want on your sdcard. Some apps have to be copied to system/app and some can be simply installed by long pressing in the file explorer. You can figure it out(wallpaper had to be on /app)

download here StockappsMERIT.zip

if you want the stock task manager- TaskManager.apk
the "StockappsMERIT.zip" is a collection of a few different apks. so as stated, download it, and unzip it then pick which apps you want.

It was more of a heads up if you update in the future.
adding stay boogy kernel would be great also.

But I must say this is a very well done stable. I loaded it down with xscope and adobe flash with hd video it handled it will out any reboots or crash.

keep up the good work

here is the livewallpaper picker zip i used.

flash with clockworks recovery.

Just checking for a friend of mine that just got a merit... but will this work on a net10 version without loss of function such as mms?

Ok not so good. Signal is all around weaker having issues with play store saying apps can't be used that worked with the stock rom and YouTube no longer plays.
Going back to stock ... which stinks because I can tell a lot of work went into this.
