Default [ROM] Ice Cream Scamwich 2.0 3/17 (happy st pattys!)

Welcome to Ice Cream Scamwich v2.0. Heavily improved from the last release. Implemented a bunch of ICS/CM7 functions, and this thing is along ways from its gingerbread home.

I thought you all might enjoy some new stuff. Totally stable and fit your everyday use.

This currently does not change your kernel. This means if you are overclocked, then you stay overclocked. If you have stock then you stay stock.

This ROM is/has
  • Built off Stock (my Deodexed ROM)
  • ROOTED
  • Deodexed
  • Zip-Aligned
  • Init.d Support
  • Some build.prop tweaks, other random things
  • Full ICS themed(More Added-fonts, progress bar, sliders, etc.)
  • Superuser
  • Es File Explorer
  • Dolphin Browser
Updates- 2.0
  • Lidroid Toggles (14 panel control widget-wifi,gps,data,bt,lockscreen,airplane, etc)*
  • More ICS-like popups.
  • RE-Re-redid Settings (looks, added battery)
  • Added ICScamwich settings section with Quickpanel settings, No frills CPU control, and ICS lockscreen options
  • Changed around the checkbox look
  • updated QuickPic(somehow they made it faster)
  • other stuff
  • ICS camera stock (WORKING panorama)

Updates- 1.5
  • Swipe To Remove Notifications
  • Transparency
  • Rebuilt Settings
  • JB Date and Time in status bar
  • ICS themed MIUI Music (thanks to)
  • MIUI Camera
  • all branding removed

DOWNLOAD HERE ----- version 2.0 IceCreamScamwich2.0.zip

*Toggle Tips-You can set which ones you want , and the order from Quickpanel settings.
FLASHLIGHT DOES NOT WORK- our phone doesnt have one, so this will FC your status bar, then it will pop back up in a few seconds.
Screen Timeout-works, but FC status bar during the switch. I just take both of these out of my panels.

Not so old older versions

IceCreamScamwichv1.5.zip
ThemeUpdate.zip

IceCreamScamwichv1.zip

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS IN CWM
Download IceCreamScamwichv2.zip
Navigate to your recovery (vol up+Menu plus Power On.)
Wipe your dalvik cache, and the cache.
(optional- wipe DATA. You dont need to , but it may not be perfect, so...)
Select "Install Zip from Sdcard"
Chose IceCreamScamwichv2.zip.
let it do its thing.

Ive included some apps from the Stock merit (live wallpaper, etc). Ive installed wallappers, books and a couple others. Anything not here you can get at the play store.

This is NOT CWM flashable. download it, unzip and put the apps you want on your sdcard. Some apps have to be copied to system/app and some can be simply installed by long pressing in the file explorer. You can figure it out(wallpaper had to be on /app)

download here StockappsMERIT.zip

if you want the stock task manager- TaskManager.apk

THESE IS AN OLD VERSION AND IS CWM BACKUPS, not update. they will be removed soon, but I'll leave them up for a little longer

IceCreamDreamOC.zip New OVERCLOCKED Version. (anthony's kernel - [Kernel] Kernel1.0 (Update Apr 7 11:33) [Released!] )

WARNING-IF YOUR PHONE BREAKS I A NOT RESPONSIBLE. Nor is anyone at this site. This stuff works, so you shouldnt worry about that, but i didnt break it. enjoy

THANKS TO !!

Lidroid- For the toggles. You sir are genius
Hansip87- Swipe to Remove notifications
balamu96m- Settings redesign
Bloodawn- Porting Lidroid to the ZTE warp, which gave me a good base idea. Also might have ganked some pngs now that I look at it.
EVERYONE who posts guides, tutorials, how-tos, etc. You guys rock and this wouldnt have happened if you didnt decide to be hlepful and share knowledge. So Thanks
(..some more I gotta dig up)

These first two pics are old, and are just illustrating swipe to remove. so the pulldown looks like the ones with the toggles, but you swipe like the first two show.

If you feel like buying me a coffee to keep chugging along with this dev stuff, it'd be much appreciated.

Dropbox seems to never want to work easy with me. I was 75% done when i put this up. Then got a flash error on their end. So i reuploaded but now it doesnt want to dl properly yet. Bad internet. As soon as i can verify it is good to go i will put up the link. Cant let other people put it in their phone without trying first.

The screenshots are not up to date. I changed fonts since. But it gives an idea. Screenahot not working tonight for some reason.

away we go ....... ICS, it might be too early, but I'm concerned with the incompatibility of U.S. ROMs. Does this mean that we Europeans again have to wait for the European version of the same?

Instead of GoLauncher, try Holo Launcher. It's much lighter and easier on resources. As for the lockscreen, Go Locker has an ICS theme, or you can make it yourself.

i can understand that.

dropbox is the worst honestly.

use mediafire. i realize there's not an app for it, but it's much better than dropbox will ever be about uploading files.

Yeah this is just a beta, i was thinking of trying out holo, its on a couple roms I like. If i had the time to do the dock and app drawer myself, i probably wouldn't even be on Go. Still some tweaks to come so it could end up very different.

And I tried used that go locker and it added too much lag I thought. Really want to try and just do everything myself and not rely on apps too much. I have to look more into redoing lockscreens.

A bonus was the camera slide on the lockscreen works in GoL, I would really like to have that on here stock.

you realize that build.prop tweaks don't work, right?

build.prop tweaks are useless and they don't do anything.

most of the things that are in the build.prop are set by init.rc in the ramdisk of the boot.img. it doesn't matter what settings you put in the build.prop, if they are set to something else in the init.rc, then even though they are in the build.prop file they are not getting used.

You do realize that some of them do right?

And i didn't use any of the garbage ones that don't work.

Here's a good read Examining build.prop tweaks for Android ICS: A comprehensive guide (Part 1) | Jeff Mixon

i'm well aware of that blog post, but also that's in ICS, not Gingerbread. there are very many differences between the two.

also, notice that he only confirms 3 but disproves over double that...

my point exactly--MOST don't work

And some do work is my point you said they dont work. some do. The differences in OS dont so much come into play in the selected ones.

I didnt use ones that dont work. I dont even get how people could sit there and add tons of lines to the buildprop.

@zajchik i personally know pretty much nothign about the euro version. So I dont know how to bring it over to you. You have mms and video issues or something with US roms? maybe ill talk to james about it.

In other news, the official release might be sooner than I thought. Got this working

(not my actual phone, but same menu).

Isn't smali a PITA?! . I did the same thing to my Rugby while I was on Gingerbread. I even went as far as making full color images.

And Stayboogy, I can confirm that locking an app in memory works (build.prop stuff). The Rugby Smart took an ungodly amount of time to open the camera (~20s), but forcing the camera to memory cut that time in half, if not more. I tap it, it opened.

In fact, the only problem they have the Europeans with
ROMs based on the
U.S., the dysfunctional SMS center.
Everything else works. Do it in the kernel
or something else no one so far has not
revealed.

Yup...I tried your rom and that SMS does not work as well as any so far, based on the U.S. roms. looks nice, but I'm not too bothered, because is not for us Europeans. Otherwise, everything was fine until the restore to the boot.
In boot no problems, looad lasted as anybody roms so far.

Yeah it's been driving me nuts. The new thing I'm working on is about50 times worse. Needed To put that on hold for a minute.

Zajchik does changing the apn settings help at all?

1.0 coming this week. A couple changes.

APN only improves the net and MMS, but not SMS.

Nice, if you care for ICS, I personally never understood the attachment or hype. I tried two ROMs once of ICS on my Fire and found the extreme amount of changes (the worst being the sliding dock and removal of the clear button in notifications and having that fingerprint-inducing swipe-away feature) too much.

This is still GB but i see what youre saying.

I personally find GB stock to be nauseating. That dock, those ugly orange yellows everywhere. bleh. Plus i was running the same thing on a prevail over a year ago so I've had my fill. Time to update a bit.

1.0 now up.

I like green myself. Everything else I changed with go launcher. But I was never fond of electric blue either. But ICS was too different.

can this work on the zte avail? read somewhere that someone had merit roms running on the avail. I got installation aborted. Just wondering if it was a bad download, or totally incompatible.

Here's a bunch of screenshots. Some reason they dont want to go in the first post.

Some got random colored lines through it, that is NOT how this rom looks, it is a glitch in the screenshot. For instance, ther reboot menu looks the same as the larger one I posted earlier, not like bars through it.

Didn't realize it was a nandroid backup. I was trying to flash it like a regular rom.

I got a ROM that is mostly tacked with apps to do some of the stuff and using Go Launcher (sorry I do like the built-in features and anything else feels empty) but I was curious, I am not sure what I did to the files in /system to fix the phantom booting (it's never happened in the last three days that I have used it with data on) so I was worried about flashing the Kernel 1.0 to get overclock and such, thinking it may start doing it again. I am currently cleaning up and making a nandroid for anyone wanting to play with it, it has ROM Toolbox Pro and a few others in there, but no ability to go past 600MHz. but it feels rather snappy to me

I use Anthony's kernel & it is so much smother then stock. I get the random reboot every once in a while may be weeks in between them.

I am not sure what I hacked as I did so many but I did *something* that stopped them permanently (the self-reboots) which only happened when cellular was enabled. I've managed a few days without any incident. which is what concerns me should I put the Kernel 1.0 in there to enable overclock. would it overwrite what I did, or introduce new bugs (such as the broken camera and GPS which was present in SpeedFreak?) my concern is not being able to recreate the cure for it that I did as it was purely accidental, so if I wipes my setting out I can't recreate it to bring it back.

In all intensive honesty, I never remembered a noticeable performance increase with it overclocked as far as 800MHz min and max. performance setting. Angry Birds or other intensive game used to benchmark. it seemed to lag similar either way in-game. so are we truly getting results or placebo effect here?

I haven't had a random reboot since I deodexed.

Keep whatever you are doing in a thread about that. It has nothing to do with my rom and shouldn't really be in here.

how do y'all get the screenshot of the lock screens and in-apps? the only screenshot tools i have downloaded from the Play store take only shots of the home screen, do nothing in the lock screen (because the device is, um, locked maybe?) and usually say something like 'screenshot not available here' when in settings or inside an app

Very cool! Took a bit to get it, I ran into a few problems. One quetion, while it was going through its process I got an error on sdcard. Do you think that will effect anything? Anyway, playing with it and I don't see a problem yet!

Thanks again!

What error did you get? If its on the SD card it shouldn't effect anything but try to see f backups work OK.

The play store stuff is on Google's end. Not the rom .

So I put Ice Cream Dream OC on my phone this morning, and randomly all day my phone pulls up a massage "Error. We are unable to verify your account at this time. Please try again in a few minutes." This error is for my Google account, none of my Google apps work when it does this. And in a few minuets my Google account works again. Never did this before I put this ROM on my phone... and it works now. Doesn't take long. Do you think it is google or my ROM screwing with things? And the message is back, compleatly random. Any Ideas?

Okay. When I try to download an app off Google play store I get a message, "Error retrieving information from server. [RPC:S-5:AEC-0]

My guess is Google, but I'm not all that tech savvy.

Later:
Holy cow I need to pay attention! My data was capped, and my phone wasn't connected to my wifi!
The question now is why doesn't my phone stay connected to my wifi? the bars are there but grayed out.
