I'd much rather stay with Metro, but I may have to be moving around the country soon and mostly to areas Metro just doesn't cover.

Yeah just you won't be "fully" using it. You can only talk and text with it.

Sure can, some metro stores still flash phones especially verizon or sprint because they're cdma devices without sim card

EDIT: NM I thought it was the other way around correct my friend.

I still don't get all the worry people are having over whether or not to go s3.. 2 YEARS. 2 years to keep the fam on here together with additional benefits possibly before the bigger changes hit. If this ship IS sinking for metro..its doing it on the edge of a beach. Don't sweat it..when its time, just jump off and swim to another provider lol. I know damn well this thing will last me that long anyway..

Btw..something I noticed yesterday at the store by me which has me a little excited. Where the demos are with all of the 4g phones, all were there except the esteem demo. ...they still have them for sale. Maybe getting ready to pop something else in that spot soon????

You have a good point on that mike but with the two combination what would happen. Also keep in mind if data is running we can make calls over data bigger that volte so I love to see what will happen. I think that the s 3 can and will have a few extra bonuses when it do hit our metro stores

I've decided to go ahead and leave metro, buy an s3 out right and activate on t mobiles byod $60 plan.

Why am i doing this?

I get an s3 now. I get an s3 that i won't have to get rid of after the companies fully integrate. And if you plan on staying with metro, you will be moved to t mobile eventually. So I'm just moving now instead of later, saving a lot of money and i end up having a phone that will have value and still be operable that i will get for far less than metros price.

Versus buying metros s3 if it every comes out only to sell it because it will become inoperable in due time after the company fully merges from which i would buy a tmob phone at that point anyway.

After thinking about this, it's blatantly obvious the right move to make.

PLUS, you can buy an unlocked s3 brand new on Ebay for 400. It's a win win win all around to just jump ship now and make the move. It's the same thing as waiting on metro but you'll lose money by buying their phone vs straight out elsewhere and losing money when you are stuck with an inoperable phone that you can't sell.

I'm just stating my decision. This isn't a debate or an argument waiting to start so don't even go there. I plan on buying my s3 today and using up my last month of metro because I've already paid and then signing up on tmob byod $60 plan at the first of the month.

It's been real. It's been fun. It's been real fun.

Lucky for you that you probably have good tmobile coverage where you live... I don't.. so I have to get the metro version as their coverage here is better than tmobiles... or else I would of done the same thing u did

but how funny would it be if you went out to buy the s3 today only to have the metro s3 come out tomorrow... that would be lulz

The metro s3 could come out right now and i would still not buy it. Read my post again. Assuming the metro s3 is 499, i save 100 right off the bat. Second, Im buying an unlocked s3 versus metros s3 that will be useless when the companies have fully integrated. Yes, that's a while from now but selling that metro s3 to people that know it will be no good isn't going to be easy. At some point if you stay with metro YOU WILL HAVE TO BUY A T MOBILE PHONE.

I'm just moving now instead of later and buying the s3 for cheaper now instead of waiting on metro. I'm moving to the other side of the same company that isn't going to be phased out. That's all.

I was considering to switch to Tmobile but really? We can use Metro phones until the end of 2015 we can save money for three years plus I'm going to buy the S3 which I was concern about, but really raise your hand if anyone here use the same phone for 3 years! Go ahead and buy the Galaxy s3 and enjoy it until last

Unless your're happy with T -Mobile EDGE speeds I wouldn't get the unlocked version and just pony up the extra bucks for the T -Mobile branded GS3.

My friend you will save the $100 for the phone but you will spend more money in monthly payments for 3 years. I was planning to do the same thing but nope I will stay with metro and save the extra money By that time maybe the Galaxy S6 will be at the stores Lol and the S3 won't have the same value. Think about it

Im actually gonna go through with this and just sell my motion for 100 and get the galaxy nexus unlocked, get it on tmobiles 30 dollar plan with unlimited text, 100mins, and 5gb of 4g which i know i wont use either up.
You cant beat hd jellybean for 30 dollars a month with hspa+ speeds. Saves me intsantly 200 bucks and 25 dollars every month. plus as pg says better battery life.
SIKESR likes this.

Yes and i have a feeling that the gnex price is gonna go down since the new nexus devices will be launched next month. Yet if one of the new nexus is 350-400 on google play ill just get that. Im just gonna wait till next month.

Uhhhh. Yes you can. They offer bring your own device plans that utilize their 4g network.

So how would you bring your device and use it if it wasn't unlocked?

They even have specific i phone plans for unlocked i phones.

I'll probably be holding off on any new device purchases and waiting till 2013 for MetroPCS to start selling GSM, HSPA+, LTE compatible devices.

I'm with you on this one lol. It's like all of us (almost) wants the galaxy s 3 but now ever since the merge announcement with metro and t mobile must of us have second thoughts about buying one.

Smh, shit just got real.

gonna hold on to my motion for another 9 months until the merger is final and we start getting a better phone selection through tmobile.

hopefully i dont get bogarded off my $55 all you can eat plan and i'll have the galaxy s4.

the galaxy s3 is an awesome device but there are already phones coming out that top that device and i've always said if metro could get something better i would get that instead and now it seems like this will become a reality.

Hey you guys I have been looking for this answer to my question and it was answered by not one not two but 4 metro employees. Well I wanted to know if we had to get devices and they said you have til 2015 . But as the world has issues with money and jobs. All I can say is look out for a update. Cause t-mobile is changing to the full LTE SERVICE SO people like me with this esteem may not need a new device. But as both metro and t-mobile say Samsung s 3 would be the best choice and may still be in service in the later years of 2018 . If we are still around to see. So hey esteem may not work but s 3 will and will be around
