I check this forum a lot to see if anyone has a date and so far nothing. I was by 57th street here in new york and stopped by a pcs store and asked about the phone.

The guy was reluctant to tell me anything but her sorta kinda knows me because I work for FedEx and I deliver to him once in a while. Anyways, he says the phone is coming the 21st.

Default i feel obligated to tell everyone about this.

to call customer service directly dial *490 it will connect u right away
now u can check constantly for any news on gs3 and hope one of the employees slips or something

but if u have "my metro" installed itll open it and then u can navigate through til it says add features or something like that.

youre all very welcome

every device for metro has its booloader locked! why? cuz metro wont invest in a product that is so easily modded to do things that metro would prefer us not to do.

If the Samsung GS3 is the best U.S. Android device to date then it's should be running the best and latest Android OS to date! If it's not coming with Jelly Bean shipped then it will most likely never to see the light of day unless you hack it! We all know how Samsung and U.S. carriers are when it comes to software updates.

i personal dont care if we get jellybean out of the gate or not ive been using gingerbread this long so ics will be good enough for me for now and im sure metro will get the update if its released with out it. do you really think Samsung would allow metro not to update the S3 come on they wouldn't allow that it would look bad for Samsung and th S3 as a whole.

Just because jb is the latest doesn't make it the best. But think about this, Samsung worked on the gs3 for a while. At least a year, since the launch of the s2. Samsung also had plenty of time to tweak ics for the gs3 to make sure it ran perfectly on the device. When a new version of the os is released, people expect it to be available right away. Samsung needs to customize it with their ui first, then take time to make sure it runs smoothly. Would you rather have them release the update right away, but take multiple updates over the months to make it run right, or take time to minimize the bugs before releasing it? It's all about quality

Have you ran jb? I do on my nexus 7, and can assure you it is the best. Ics was the best, not just latest, and jb is ics hyped up with new features, making it the new bestest!

Nah... I'd just rather get the update when it's available, and be done with it.
If I want their TouchWiz UI interface cr****p on top, then I'll get that too once it's updated.
The way I see it, the phones should be configured as so:
/system/app <--- only vanilla android stuff. Period.
/system/data (/data/data) <--- normal user installed program without root
/system/vendor (or /system/oem, or /system/distrib) <--- touchwiz, carrier bloatware and all that stuff.
Now when an update comes along for android, we just update /system/data and we're done.
if /system/vendor happens to conflict with the update, then sad day for it. /system/data works without it.
Now when Samsung or whatever other manufacturer or carrier decides to update their apps, they can just push an OTA to /system/vendor, and if it's good, we'll use it.
Why would you want it this way? You can ensure you ALWAYS have the latest android version on your device, regardless of manufacturer/carrier laziness.
I mean, do you wait for your car dealership to get a better radio or tranny installed in your car?

Yes its much better, but it wont hurt to wait couple more days to get the update, I rather get the device now and wait year for Samsung to release JB. Most of us doesn't care we just want the phone on our hand already. There are countless Jb rom for S3 already, anyway matter of fact some features were taken away from Jb because of freaking stupid dumb f99k company like crapple. So anyway lets get the device first then Jb, I wouldn't want Samsung to rush and then release a broken OS instead of a correct OS. And trust me you haven't seen LG it takes them freaking three years to release a new update and that's damn broken and I have 3 LG android devices so I know. You will enjoy ICS trust me its incredible, especially for users like me who are coming from gingerbread

Of course it's the latest and greatest. That's just the fact of the matter. Jelly Bean update is out on the international version and could easily be rolled out on the U.S. versions, but instead they want to sell it with outdated software. The GSIII Mini even comes with Jelly Bean out of the box! Samsung and the U.S. carriers playing politics as usual. No wondering some people will never buy a Samsuck phone again. Oops... I mean Samsung.

You don't seem to understand how the update roll out works

When Samsung releases jellybean like they have for the international versions the us gets the update sent to the carriers. Then the carriers have to bloat it up and so their own quality control testing.

The reason the US doesn't have it has nothing to do with Samsung and everything good with the carriers.
