so basically they took the esteem gave it a new shape and made it cheaper.
dud
Exactly we knew about this phone coming months ago at least the price is right on this one next in line is the admire 4g unless metro releases the s3 first and then the admire but it will be a busy next 3 weeks for us
I don't consider this phone as a good deal for the price. It truly is more expensive than it should be. MetroPCS's price range for phones are ridiculous. The ONLY phone they priced right was the LG Motion. If your going to charge that price, atleast make it have ICS and a respectable 1GB of RAM... They shouldn't be producing anymore 512MB of RAM phones. They are desperately trying to make it seem like they are offering a whole different array of good price ranged 4G phones so more people can finally switch over to 4G. But they are still putting disrespectful specs out there that don't make any sense. This is why MetroPOS gets mocked so much. Just release the damn S3 ALREADY! And thank the universe that Samsung doesn't let carriers change/degrade it's flagship phone...

Well I agree with you however remember the esteem when it came out it was consider a late arrival and yet it was priced a lot higher for what you are getting with the zte is not bad remember we of course won't buy it we know better but for people that want a big screen plus hdmi output is not a bad deal for what you get yes the motion is excellent all around package but screen resolution is a deal breaker but metro sets prices in a weird way to their phones

Does anybody know the resolution? It's rarely mentioned but is just as important as ram and processor to me. Specifically the ppi.

so the actual price tag for this thing is gonna be between $249 and $279 or maybe even $319 depending on the rebate amount.
this phone should be $200 flat.
but hey, if people are gonna keep buying phones solely because of screen size...
What people in here need to realize is that none of us here will buy this phone we all know better and are tech savy metro wants to bring more customers to lte and with phones like this and the motion they will do just that people that don't know better will see this zte as a high end lol just because of the screen size

as far as screen resolution, i watch youtube videos on my motion and they're not pixelated or grainy at all. the 4.3" esteem has a ppi of 217 to the motion's 165. the different in real world video quality between the two is almost negligible. same with the connect thats 4" with ppi of 233. all 3 are more or less the same with the ppi being proportional to the screen sizes. though the connect will be brighter as it uses LCD tech while the esteem and motion have TFT.

I can't agree with that. The difference in picture quality between the connect and esteem was huge for me. I don't know if it's to do with the brightness buti have both turned down to 25% at all times. My brother went from a connect to the motion and he says the screen sucks. He said its almost as if they were using old screens from flip phone days. Of course that might be an exaggeration but still...
And seeing as how i didn't know anything about ppi back then, i would say my experience was real world.

could be the fact that your bro doesnt like the size of it but as far as watching videos the motion and connect are basically the same, unless your bro is putting both screens right up to his face to really examine the pixels.
again, because of the LCD NOVA screen the connect will be brighter but thats about it.

EDIT: hell, the LG motion isnt priced right either haha. this phone should be between $200-$250 for what it can do, but hey im not complaining haha.
$200 flat for this phone should be the ideal price. Heck, the reason why I said that the LG Motion was priced right, was because it is priced under it's true value. This is certainly a priced ranged GOOD phone that would get people to switch from 1x to 4G. Which is what Metro wants but yet fails to realize.
But, like Mike and others have said, they are trying to appeal to the masses. Not the tech savvy. For that we have the S3, which is what i'm waiting for. Then again, I can't help but feel bad about people buying into these whack azz phones. That's why I always try to get people to buy the LG motion and not the Lightray or the coolpad. - No I don't work for Metro, I'm just a good friend!

There's going to be a lot of mad customers that are gonna end up buying/bought these phones that recently came out, that have probably no idea that the S3 is gonna be available for Metro, soon. Can you imagine someone paying that much for the Lightray, then few weeks later the S3 drops? I would be pissed!

Ive heard the Motion is subsidized by Metro to 4G phones in peoples hands. Its definitely worth more than 150$ for what it offers, so I put some stock in that.

I remember a report at the end of last quarters earnings report said they were gonna lightly subsidize some phones
I dont really get the hype with all the new phones.
For myself upgrading from Optimus M to LG Motion was like an upgrade from pentium 4 to nice quad core. Yes you can buy new latest processor for $1000 but for a casual user it wont matter. So most people now upgrade from nice quad core to even faster quadcores, which really does not make that much sense to me.
It's getting to the point when no matter how much you are going to pay for a smartphone you are going to get fast and responsive device. IMO there is no reason to waste money on high end phones in nearest future.
Phones are not made to render grachics, edit movies, gpaphic design. How much better can it get.

I went into a local North Dallas authorized dealer a few minutes ago. I got a chance to hold one and look at it turned on. It's nice. I compared it side by side with my Optimus M+. Quite the size difference. I didn't get a chance to do a lot of intensive stuff to really test it, but I didn't notice any appreciable lag due to only having 512 MB RAM. The screen was nice. Overall, I really thought it looked nice. It wasn't a lightweight either, but not like carrying a 45mm either.

so they bought this down to $200 with rebates. they also brought down the coolpad and activa. coolpad is $79 with MIR and they cut the original price down $20. thats what that phone is worth honestly.
Its a mystery what they are doing with prices . I think I should sell my esteem ASAP before the prices go down lol
I was selling my Esteem for $255 on eBay, and the highest bid on it is at $153. It hasn't moved from there for a few days. So I just now check Metro's website, and see that the Esteem is now at $279, lol down from $379. Huge drop. I'm supposed to send this phone out in a few days, but problem is, I put the "bidding limit" around the rumored S3 date (today) :/ stupid move by me. Still a few days left before the bidding limit is over, and i don't think by then the S3 will be available. If not, ima have to throw in a free SD card if they can wait a few more days before I send it.
