NO. T-mobile bought Metro.
Argghhh. T-mobile's CEO stays in charge (so T-mobile runs T-mobile), T-mobile name stays. Metro gets 1.5 billion for their spectrum and licenses. Metro name goes away, Metro stores near T-mobile stores go away.
DT still owns 76% of the the combined company. The accountants are calling it a merger for tax reasons, but it was a sale. Metro sold out to DT (T-Mobile)

Least well have the Note 2 (maybe ) I really don't care. Don't know why everyone is making such a big fuss about it. One company bought out another and now becoming one. Happens everyday throughout America and around the world. That's how alot of companies grow. A lot of people are acting like it's the end of the world and Tmo and Metro are the only carriers in the world and now there's only one. Metro sucks. We can all say that. But hey we like the bill/plan prices. IF prices go up and IF quality and coverage/data speeds or whatever? I'll gladly pay a little more for the better. I mean seriously of I could afford and wanted to be in a contract, I'd be on one of the big 5 paying more Ahaha
Just my 2 cents which don't mean much but hey to me it's whatever

2. How does this transaction benefit MetroPCS customers?
We believe that this combination will best position MetroPCS for long-term success, supported by the best talent in the industry.
We are confident that, through this combination, we can offer customers a wider selection of affordable products and services, deeper network coverage and a clear-cut technology path to one common 4G LTE network – in even more cities. We expect to improve your mobile experience by:
Creating a faster, broader, higher capacity 4G network ; Offering wider handset choice and lower costs by building on our combined portfolio of cutting-edge products and services; and Enhancing our national footprint, and offering international roaming options Deutsche Telekom and T-Mobile have announced publicly that they intend to grow the MetroPCS brand, both through extension into new geographic areas and through the introduction of a broader product portfolio into our existing network. Importantly, MetroPCS and T-Mobile have the same network strategies and LTE networks in the same spectrum bands, which we believe will accelerate the deployment of advanced services to our customers.
3. Will the MetroPCS name or branding change?
Upon completion of the combination, the new combined company will be called T-Mobile, and will continue to operate MetroPCS and T-Mobile as separate customer units. Deutsche Telekom and T-Mobile have announced publicly that they intend to grow the MetroPCS brand, both through extension into new geographic areas and through the introduction of a broader product portfolio into our existing network.
So if this is how it's gonna go metro isn't gonna disappear into thin air but instead be a prepaid subordinate of tmobile. They get our LTE footprint and we get access to awesome high end phones.
Can't grow a brand that no longer exists.

Heres how I see it:
GSM > CDMA - reason why, GSM devices have better call quality and better battery life (Ask any CDMA GNexus owner ), and is super easy to change devices & keep your # etc.
T-Mobiles LTE/4G + MetroPCS's = more/better coverage for us all
IMO I think they would be better dumping the CDMA all together and going full GSM, but they may use both, I doubt seriously they dump GSM tho.

It's still a bit confusing but on page 5 of the investors presentation they referred to the transaction as a ''reverse acquisitions of T-Mobile by MetroPCS''.
Also on page 20 it looks like they plan to migrate convert MetroPCS PCS spectrum to HSPA+ and the AWS spectrum to LTE by the second half of 2015.
I was planning on getting the S3 but I think I'll just keep using my connect and see what happens next year.
Did yall see today that MetroPCS was bought by T-Mobile!!! ... Maybe our 4g network will get faster and extended more Fingers Crossed!
Dream on...

MetroPCS represents a potentially big lost opportunity for Sprint. The two companies use the same network technology (CDMA), which would have made for a relatively smooth integration of customers and devices. T-Mobile runs on GSM, so the company will have to convert MetroPCS’s 9.3 million customers to its technology over the next three years.

Honestly I dont give a damn as long as my plan stays the same and like the CEO of metro said our service will operate normally I dont give a damn lol. And well I understand that you guys like to change phone very often ,but think about ti what if you want to give your phone to siblings, so yes to the question most people will still use the GS3 after two years and I plan on doing so as well I already changed too many phones.

Notice in the announcement that the ceo made that it keeps saying "before" the merge fully completes. No where does it say what happens after. This is the part where your metro phone becomes useless and you are moved over t mobile. So keep that in mind. Granted this won't happen for a while but It will happen.

Just talked to t mobile and even they said to wait before dropping it on the s3. They said all the details should be out and the full merger should be completed in about 6 to 9 months.
He sounded competent but idk. No one knows i guess lol

VoLTE is the direction mobile carriers are heading. LTE may drain your battery faster but it's a much more efficient usage of spectrum. I can't see T-Mobile rendering the GS3 obsolete.

i dont see how shutting down CDMA will automatic mean metropcs will go kaput especially when metro planned on doing this long before this merger plan in order to make way for voLTE.
its the reason why metro has been putting out more LTE capable handsets the last 3 months.
obviously metro will have to switch over to GSM, which is what they'll be working on up until 2015. both companies want LTE.
i'd also like to know how voLTE is going to be implemented on handsets. is it a hardware thing or a firmware thing?

Well, first of all you need VoLTE capable phones , in this case the esteem is confirmed to have it, the connect, the beast gs3 and I'm not sure about the motion. Since these phones are equipped with the capability then metro will probably push out a firmware or ota update to these phones activating the VoLTE feature...

Fuzzy, since you've been talking to both Tm and MPCS both, maybe you can attack it from another angle. Why not contact Samsung, get to the techies who had something to do with getting the S3 Metro ready. Shouldn't they know the 2 carriers AND how they set the phones up for them to give you some better 411 about your options so far as getting the Metro S3 now and future network options?

I think metros CDMA towers will just be bought out by sprint and anyone still using metros CDMA phones will be moved to sprintpcs...its the only thing that makes sense if metro and T-Mobile want to drop CDMA metro phones.
There are a lot of speculation at the moment who knows cdma might get dropped after 2015 either way in two years even if metro was not getting bought I'm sure volte would have make us buy new phones or some other technology who knows let's not worried about the future the way the world is going who knows if we will even be alive it might sound cruel but it's reality

Hi there, Dreamer...
That does sound good, but how likely you think anyone would trouble themselves to make this happen?
I mean, we can't know everything...
Maybe Verizon is gonna buy Sprint, and CDMAs will make a great comeback!
See, I'll dream with you too...
