Wasn't talking about any of the fees or anything. The phones themselves are almost always MORE in store then buying it from Metro's website or off of sites like Wirefly where they charge even less then Metro.

@Joshb101
So that's what your whole "buying online" spiel was about, I see now. Well that's sad to hear for you. I'm in FL and I've been to many stores, including corporate stores, and literally every phone I've seen is the same price in-store and online. So I guess maybe it just depends on where ya go.

Seriously you don't have to be so condescending, it wasn't a "spiel" everyone knows you can regularly find better deals for phones by buying online then going into a store. Apparently your Metro stores sell for the same price as the Metro site, which is surprising, but I would be very surprised if that held true for most stores.

And really I was referring more to buying from Wirefly where a phone like the Motion which is normally 149.99 is 138.88. And yes that's not much of a discount of course they don't charge sales tax and shipping is free so its actually a bigger discount depending on what your state's sale tax is and how far away the nearest Metro store is.

And really this went away from the originial intent of my posting which was to inform elcocho852 that yes he could go buy a phone online and activate it in-store to get the $30 plan.

When I spoke to the very helpful girl at the Gainesville, FL Corporate store, I asked her about their prices. She said, "We're a Corporate store, our store prices are always the same as on-line." I have no idea if that's the case with every Corp store but to me it also alluded to the possibility that the authorized dealers May charge more.

@Joshb101
Don't read into what I say too much man.

I just think maybe you haven't been to too many MetroPCS stores recently and checked the prices. Though I could be wrong. Maybe you're right, and it just depends on the area. Anyway, I appreciate the info about wirefly. I didn't know about them selling the same phones for a discount.

Lol if any employee tells you that you need to get a new number, laughingly tell them you're about to call corporate and rat them out, see how fast they bend over for you.

Dealers often do charge more, as a dealer I would charge as much as I could until the negative pr got too bad hehe.

1st off just remember it expires the 31st
Q1 it has to be a new line added to your account so I think that means new number.
If she's already on your account just cancel her service & see if they will let you choose that number. Not sure if that would work though so maybe someone else will elaborate.
Q2 yes since it's not a smartphone it's included in the promotion. Even though I don't see it on the website

MetroPCS - Buy One Get One Free Savings Terms and Conditions

Should read both of those
Seems like that's what you have to do

I'm on a family plan. Originally we had four regular non smartphones which set my bill to $25 for each phone. I upgraded my phone to the Motion with the $55 unlimited plan. Since I'm on the family plan I only pay $50 for my unlimited 4g plan.

Once you have more than 1 person it's $5 off a line so if you get her the $50 2.5 & you get the unlimited $55 or $60 depending on when you switch it's either going to be $90 or $95 I use to be on the 4 for a 100 plan but I'm pretty sure that's not available for 4G
So for both of you it can range from $90-$110

we arent gunna catch teh 55 dollar plan and 2.5 is more than enough for both. so since we are being added on we would save 5 bucks on each plan, so 90 bucks a month for both lines

There are some people over there that are trying to root it but yeah I would stay away from that phone like there's no tommorow. Even the name screams cheap (IMO)

I really like my Motion and may upgrade eventually to Galaxy S4 mid 2013-

Just wondering if a Dumbphone would make me look smarter by contrast.........

I keep looking at the MetroPCS web site but I don't see these new rate plans and in fact the only place I have seen these rate plans is here in this thread. Any other word on it? I talked with a dealer this morning and they said the plans were still the same as they have been.

They lowered the cost of their non-promotional no throttle plan by $10 while getting rid of 2 features no one used anyway.

If they hold true to what they say and only throttle to 1-3Mbps then I don't see much of a change. That's 5 times faster than what others throttle to. Hell going off the speeds I was getting, they could throttle me and nothing would have changed. Haha. I'm also not surprised in the huge customer loss recently. Metro is going to have to refarm their entire game plan or that # will keep getting bigger. There's WAY too many other choices for people that offer better prices and better options. Hell if they would produce real world LTE speeds like Verizon then they would be more attractive as a cheaper LTE option. Of course these changes will be good for the current customers that refuse to leave cause they will be getting more for their money. That's my prediction at least. Hopefully they can get their cards straight and continue to be a large pre paid provider. The more pre paid options the better, that's how I look at it.

When people hear about take over rumors they usually leave a company thinking that they will get screwed metro took a hit this past quarter but they did gain lte users either way it will all be tmobile in a couple of months on my personal experience metro has gotten better and better.

metro just wasnt very good last year. they had a great price for their plans but didnt have the phones or the speed. their top phones(esteem, connect, lightray) were(and still are apparently) grossly overpriced.

now they have phones like the motion, avid, GS3, and the upcoming spirit that are high performance phones that are well priced(obviously the GS3 is a bit pricier). the ZTE anthem which is the same phone as the esteem is almost $200 cheaper. a $60 buffet plan is still the cheapest offer in the industry for unlimited all and the speeds are picking up and will get even better once the merger hits. those getting throttled on metro's buffet plans are those using copious amounts of data( 100GB?) usually streaming netflix or tethering.

as far as verizon and their speeds, as i've said many times before, you're gonna pay up your rear end and around the corner for that speed and you're not gonna get as much to use unless you wanna pay even more. when you only get 2GB a month to use the only things you're gonna do with such a data allowance is social media, web surfing, video/audio streaming, and gaming. you can do these things without a hitch on a solid 5-6mbps connection so the real difference is speedtest.net bragging rights.

this is why i think metro should focus more on consistency of speed before top speed. people should be able to get that 5-7mbps everywhere they go within metro's home coverage area.

BTW, did anybody else hear about our GS3 getting jellybean sometime next month?

Okay quick question. I have the old $50 unlimited 4g with 2.5 gb of streaming on two of my lines. When I checked my account online last night it no longer says 2.5 gb of streaming , instead it says 1 gb. Anyone know what happened? I've tried contacting metro on Facebook & Twitter & no response yet. When I asked the rep over the phone she didn't have a clue why.

FWIW, I just checked my on-line account and I'm still showing the $55 Unlimited Everything Promo plan for me with no changes to what it was.

And, I slithered into that plan barely a week before it ended.

It's an older plan when data & streaming were counted separate from each other.

They don't have the spectrum for that. So really it's impossible. That'll change with the merger though

I've seen these speeds mentioned in an online article, and this is not true for me at all.

Obviously I can't vouch for all areas, but I'm in central Florida, in a high coverage LTE area, according to the coverage map. I've tested my speeds in different locations in my town while standing outside (no building interference). My download speeds are unthrottled (max speeds) 1-3megabits/sec, and throttled about 0.05-0.5megabits/sec.

Upload speeds are generally about 1.5xdownload speed.

Ugh that sucks. Those were the exacts speeds I was getting which was the main reason why I threw in the towel. Hopefully it will get better for you within due time.
