From discussions in the MetroPCS forum, it seems that 60GB is the high end for the "unlimited" plan. The vast majority of users will never come close to using that much data, it's only going to happen if you do a ton of streaming and/or use the phone as your main internet connection which really isn't its intended purpose.
Metro is not alone in doing this, all the carriers have similar practices in place.

I moved this to the Metro PCS forum as it is more of a carrier related discussion. Also, lets attack the issue, not each other.

Thanks.

That isn't true cause if you was using to much data from tethering you would be dropped from metro . The reason u have slower speads is workers fixing on the network due to the merger of tmobile and metro . If you don't believe the work check it out . Voicemail, updateing and even customer service .

Merger has nothing to do with anything metro is doing. They announced a merger but that merger hasnt been approved yet so the merger has not started yet and will not start until late April.

OK, enough already. The OP purchased an unlimited plan. There is a part of the TOS that deals with throttling bandwidth as some point. Let's keep the discussion on that topic.

Thanks.

I'd just like to know how much meat was using before receiving this message and see where the general line is drawn or if its because he was tethering.

Regular 3g speeds can get there, but throttled 4g leaves you way lower than that

Recently, I received a different type of warning text message from MetroPCS...a warning about offnet violations. I went to an area store & was informed that when Metro cell owners are out of their home service area, which is the state where phone was purchased, for greater than 3 months; immediate cancellation of service may occur. Thus, Metro is not for the consumer who may be away from their home state for longer than 3 months. This policy applies to texting & data services as well.

Now, when shopping for cell phone service, I will never assume free long distance is equivalent to free roaming capabilities, which Metro terms TravelTalk. I signed with Metro due to their affordable rates, without inquiring specifically about their out-of-state 'Roaming' policy. This has been an unpleasant lesson for a newbie cell phone user, but I did learn from it. As the old cliche says, 'If it sounds too good to be true, then it probably is'. Conclusion: MetroPCS is not a true nationwide cell phone carrier.

On tmobile unlimited you get throttled after 9765GB according to what shows up on some peoples data usage monitor in their tmobile account settings.

its still a good deal for those that are heavy data users lately since going back on verizon fios i haven't had the need to use much of my 4g data but i suppose i have the unlimted plan as a emergency need if i ever do need it.

Say whacha will but unless I am missing something, that makes TMo the only carrier who Really Is offering Real unlimited full speed data.

I mean, 10 T's have got to be more than most anyone is going to use...

techically not true unlimted data but its an amount that no one could possibly reach in 30 days. so might as well not even be counted.

It would be about 30mbps sustained not counting ping and jitter, 24/7 for the 30 days

ive used 6 gb in a month before i had stable internet so that means i was dependent on my 4g tethering to do everything from downloading files, email, netflix, hulu plus, pandora, youtube,liveleak.com, and other video streaming sites i didnt make it till the end of my 30 days i still had 1 week left so lets say i used up 6gb in 23 days. now probaly the only thing i never tried was heavy torrent downloads or using it play my ps3/xbox on cuz i dont have any game consoles anymore. but if ya think ya can consume 9-10 terabytes in 30days i would love to see that lol. for those that dont know 1000 gb is 1 terabyte and 1000 terabytes is 1 petabyte and from there i lost track of the names lol i wont boast on what i was known for but i do know what heavy data consumption is and i seriously doubt anyone can come close to their limits.

I used 253GB on my home internet when I had Comcast last summer lucky they had suspended the 250GB cap though with U-Verse now they only charge an extra $10. Not even home internet has a cap that high

last month is the first month in a very long time I even came close to the 250gb cap, but I too am glad they suspended it.

well i think we agree then even with home net connection we can barely even make it 50% of a terbyte even if we downloaded 500gb of blue ray "whatever" lmao that still isnt 9-10 terabytes not even 1% of it lol also would like to add that in 2010 i bought a 1 terabyte hard drive and im still at 60% with 600 gb out of a 1000 gb so in 3 years i havnt manged to use it all up i doubt any1 on tmobile will be able to use up that much data in 30 days........

I'm sure it's just me but I just don't see using the data that (approx) 27 "normal" customers would use And stating my wish to use Even More (set a higher record) as something I'd be "bragging" about.
